There really aren't many options to stay when you visit the Katse Dam. It's too far to visit on a day trip and there are no other hotels anywhere nearby. The hotel is functional. The rooms are clean and basic. There is hot water. Wifi is available in the lobby but is very slow. The dining room serves acceptable food....

Thank you for your comments. Yes, Katse is a fantastic destination. We are planning a refurbishment of the Lodge this year to improve the Guest Experience.

Although the views are amazing, the hotel itself desperately needs some upgrading. You get the feeling that you are in a highschool hostel. It is clean, but very outdated. The food is definitely not up to scratch either, and we were very disappointed with our meals.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, the Lodge was built primarily for the Construction of the Dam, hence the Hostel feel, and was converted to a Lodge on completion of the project. We are planning a refurbishment this year to bring it more in Line with a Tourist destination. We will also look into the quality of the meals.

We did a day trip from clarens which took an entire day on an incredibly windey road...spectacular scenery to be had but what an education. No petrol stations en route and in all honesty who would want to do this trip to/from clarens in one day? 196kms took 4 hours one way needless to say the end point was katse...

Thank you for your Feedback. Yes, indeed it is quite a drive with spectacular views, hence the attraction for Motor Bikers and 4 x 4 vehicles. Next year we are planning a refurbishment of the Hotel to address your concerns and we then trust it will look much better.

Dear Michael de Kock (general manager of Katse Lodge) I would like to express my utmost dissatisfaction of your poor hospitality. Why on earth would you invite us to join your Christmas lunch when we made our camping reservation, only to be informed by three different staff members that there is NO Christmas Lunch, only a le carte menu? I...

I apologise for there being no Christmas Lunch. Unfortunately, I have been asked to go and assist at another Hotel in the Group over December/ January. The Team at Katse decided that the demand for a Christmas Day lunch was not sufficient and decided to cancel the Lunch. Once again, my apologies.

The internet site advertising indicates idyllic accommodation alongside the waterside - far from it. Very misleading as we ended up sleeping at the other end of the "estate" closer to the entrance gate. Having arrived around 18h00, later than we had anticipated, found a garden in a terrible state. The front door handle was difficult to operate and broken. We...

If you stay overnight after visiting Katse Dam you will probably stay at Katse Lodge. It's a motel style of accommodation....rooms are clean and adequate but are off a long corridor and sound proofing is poor. We did not find the staff very welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant...the trout with almonds was delicious but the service was akin...

I had great memories of being at Katse dam about 12 years ago. Decided to go through Leshoto again to show my wife, and one cannot exclude Katse. The Lodge staff was very friendly, extremely helpful and proud. Lodge was well maintained and the food was of very good quality. The thought that everything had to come in through the...

Thank you Hugo for your comments. We are glad that your visit with your wife to Katse was a happy one. Next year we are planning a refurbishment of the Lodge to make it into an even better destination. Yes, I agree that a visit to Lesotho must include the beautiful Katse Dam. Thanks again.

I was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. On arrival the staff were very friendly and welcomed us with a drink . The whole place was clean and tidy. I must point out that the Lodge was built to house the people building katse Dam so please don't expect the Traditional Lodge. My room was plain and...

We travelled late July- and it was a very slow drive up through the mountains. Snow piled up either side of the road, ours was one of the first vehicles (4x4)through in several days. If you arrive before 5pm, you can drive across the dam (need to go through checkpoint). It saves several miles of driving to the lodge. We...

This is the only place to stay if you want to go and visit the Katse dam wall. The staff are friendly and helpful.
