Salvatore and the rest of the staff were amazing and very friendly. They were very accommodating. The resort needs some updates however it is very clean. The food was good, with a good variety of choices.Covid recommendations are followed and I felt very safe.

We had a great experience at the Samba. The staff are amazing, we looked forward to seeing Salvador each day. Only gave 4 stars because the hotel could use some refreshing the rooms are looking kind of old, but still clean. The common area are well kept.

A group of 3 couples, having stayed throughout Nayarit and PV numerous times, we chose Samba Vallarta this trip based on 3 things: 1) a 4 day notice deal from Edmonton 2) recent good reviews based on service 3) determining a reasonable level of expectations given the times of Covid and knowing the offerings would differ from those where we've stayed in the recent past before travel came to a halt.. (a larger resort chain next door to the Samba either side) Check in/out very quick and smooth. We had a superior suite with Balcony...decent beds, large table in the main room and the couch , while aged, is comfortable. While facing the Riu Jaliso brings with it the sounds form their pools and night-life, all is quiet with the windows and balcony doors closed. Our time was spent mostly on the beach enjoying the sun and in the ocean enjoying the waves.......even treated with seeing dolphins a few times. We had great service from the bar and beach service staff. Meals were at the a la carte a couple nights, and buffet (great egg and pasta station) in the main building and the burger shack near the beach. There was also a BBQ night and Mexican Night served in the entertainment/shows area...a real neat venue. While the resort is smaller in size compared to the larger major chain resorts, the amenities provided meet all requirements of comfort and safety, perhaps a feeling of more personable service. The evening entertainment shows were that...entertaining. We didn't see any kayaks or paddle boards, though to be honest we never really looked......there are bicycles to use as well. There's only a small bar with a couple of pool tables in the main lobby area that's open in the evening,.....can fill up fairly quick and spill-over into the open lobby area but all is good. The Samba Vallarta locations allows for a 2km walk north along the beach to the Bucerius square, or 4.6km walk south along the beach to the inlet of the marina. There's a couple of beach-side bars/restaurants along the way to quench that thirst, as well as the many massage venues to get those aches and pains worked out. Front desk arranged for the Covid tests which were done in the room, results in 36 hrs and all went very smooth. The hotel noted they had rooms set-aside for Covid positive customers and would provide food service to the room. All hotel staff very disciplined in wearing masks, making sure sanitizers were available throughout the resort and in general, just cognizant that everyone there wanted to be safe yet try and enjoy some "old-normal" where possible

The good: 1. The resort is in a good location. Close to the small city of Bucerias if you want to get off resort. Great view of sunset and a nice wide beach. 2. The staff are really nice. They are attentive and really try to give you the best service they can. 3. Bikes available! We've stayed at many places, but it's the first time I've seen a resort offer bikes and they do come useful to explore around. The not so good: 1. It's dated. Everything feels 20 years old. The furniture the room design, public spaces. 2. It's small (~200 rooms), so barely any grounds really available. And if you're looking to meet other people the selection will be very limited. 3. There's no quite rooms. One side of the building faces the Rio entertainent building (music till 12-1am), the other side faces the pool & entertainment for this hotel.

The service is excellent. We were asked regularly if we wanted refills on our drinks or if they could get us anything. And the staff were easy to get along with and cracked jokes. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. I have been to larger resorts in the past and I enjoyed the smaller, less busy atmosphere. Also it is very close to the beach. My only suggestion for improvement is that there could be some updating done to the rooms. But I’ve stayed in brand new places in the past and I prefer the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at Samba to something that looks flashy. Thank you “Salvador the bus boy”, for showing me how to leave a review, refilling my coffee regularly and for finding me real cream! ;)
