We have been going to PVR now for 11 years. Our children were toddlers when we first started going and are now young adults! We have made many great friends there, and watch each other’s children grow up.
The Kids Club is what drew us in to start with. They have a great little club for different age groups, 2 hours in morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Very well supervised. Your kids will have a great time.
Lots of activities to do, you’ll never get board. Or just relax and do absolutely nothing down by the pool or beach.
Different levels of cottages to choose from, something to suit every family’s needs.
Cottages are basic but very clean. Some need some updating and some TLC.
My biggest complaint is the plastic patio chairs and wooden picnic tables at some cottages, good comfortable dining chairs and tables are needed, especially at this price point, I would expect that.
Staff are exceptional! They are what makes this resort stand out!! We have gotten to know them very well over the years. There has been very little staff changes since we began.
We have only gone during the summer, but hear that all season have been great. There are fireplaces in a lot of cottages, great for fall evening or cold winter nights.
There is an indoor and outdoor hot tub, and also a large heated pool.
Everyone will have a great time at PVR!
We have already rebooked for next year!

We first went to Pine Vista in the winter about 9 years ago. This was our 5th year at Sunset Haven and the only negative thing I have to say that it was sadly our last year at the island - but it's certainly not our last time at Pine Vista! We have such a great time - no matter what time of year it is! The staff, the Kids Club, the activities, the grounds, the new sports area, the games room - we can't say enough about all of it! Each summer we have an entire week to disconnect and reconnect all at the same time. My 50th is later this year and we've already booked cottages to bring up some friends and family to celebrate in one of our favourite places. Thanks so much to all of you for all that you do! Even though one of the kids is too old for Kids Club she just won't leave it! The little one is 2 years out and we can't wait to see her up on the stage for the Friday skits. See you in October!
Thank fiddesj

Hi fiddesj Thanks again for a great week at the island. We understand the island cottage has been a very special place for families to enjoy their holidays and we are sadly going to miss having it as a rental. We sure are happy that we are going to see you again in October. Enjoy the rest of the Summer, see you soon :)

Third year in a row at Pine Vista. We stayed in the Homestead and it is perfect for our family.

We all enjoyed the archery and tubing again this year with Blake. The tubing is always the highlight of our vacation and Blake always give us the kind of ride that we wanted.
My teen sons enjoyed tie-dying a shirt with Sarah and we all did string art/wood burning with Devin. I was a bit disappointed to see that the teen-only activities were mainly sports-related this year. We also participated for the first time in Family Survivor and we had fun with that.

The pool and hot tub are clean and nice, but I continue to be frustrated by the many families who come early in the morning, spread their things out over the tables by the pool and then come pick up their stuff at the end of the day. They come and go as they please, but space there is limited. Most of the time when we would arrive at the pool in the middle of the day, there would only be one or two loungers available, while the tables were often only occupied with people's things. I would love a sign to remind people that you can't just reserve space all day long and to take your things when you go.

The games room is always popular with us. Really glad to see the new pool table, but sadly the pool cues are damaged. The air hockey pucks were also in bad shape and made playing a bit tricky at times. I sometimes saw kids in there by themselves who were maybe too young to treat the equipment with the care that it needed.

We took the canoes out a couple of times. Very relaxing out on the river. We also enjoyed the family sunset cruise with Blake.

Sadly, the wifi saga continued. This time the problem was due to a lightning strike the week before our arrival that damaged the wifi router in our area of the resort. The replacement parts never arrived during our week, so no wifi. I had to walk to the office a few times a day to keep in touch with people and to use my food tracking app because it won't run at all without wifi. Not the end of the world, but somewhat inconvenient.

The staff are always great. The satellite for our TV stopped working, and it was fixed within a few hours. When we were missing small things for our cottage, we were always able to pick them up at the office and they were also always ready to answer any questions.

Lucky for us, the weather was phenomenal, so we spent quite a bit of time outside, but we were also able to recharge as a family and play some board games and watch movies together. We are looking forward to coming back.

HI MoreMeTime Thank you for taking the time to post this great review. We love your comments and suggestions and we always look for ways to improve our service to each and every guest. The Wi-Fi is the most difficult service we come up against. Being out In the country and having very limited options available and with more extreme storms each season which damages equipment we are looking into a more simple solution that will accommodate our guests with better access but offered in one location. This will help with minimizing the mass amount of users that can log in at one time which will give better speeds and support to our guests that really need the internet access for work business and emails. Thanks again for mentioning the staff and amenities we offer. We really appreciate this. We are looking forward to seeing you again next Summer!

We have stayed here for a week every summer since I was a child. It is so amazing to now bring my children here as well. The kids club is OUTSTANDING! So child centered and fun. This magical place harkens back to simpler times and we have so much fun together here. Couldn't ever have enough room to list all the positives. So many happy memories are made here each year.

The unit was an upper level, 3 bdrm. Comfortable beds for our group. Kitchen was tight but covered all our needs. TV was surprisingly small but I you should be outside enjoying the outdoors. This is an older property with very friendly staff. It was good value for our group.

Breakfast was not included in our reservation. We had a kitchen in our unit so made our own breakfast. Not sure what is the closest though there is a golf course about 1 mile away that has a restaurant.

It’s great there! Quiet. As long as you are comfortable with a boat you’ll be good. And not sure if you are traveling with kids or not, and what your exact dates are, but I believe there is no Kids Club after Labour... More
