Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely, clean and relaxing accommodation. Satellite tv in the room was a nice surprise. The restaurant on the premises is very welcoming and the food and service was excellent. Would recommend to any family coming to or around the area, including Mallacoota.

No staff on site on arrival. Key in lockbox. More like Airbnb. Due to storm we lost internet, then all electricity followed by the water supply shutting down. This was not a treat. Biggest issue is that no staff had shown up by 9:00am when we left the next morning. Would have been ok except for complete loss of facilities but can’t excuse absence of staff throughout the visit. Was glad to drive away.

On our way south we decided to stop in Mallacoota for the evening. Searching the internet for positive reviews we settled on spending the night at the Gypsy Point Lodge which is situated about 15 minutes outside of the town. You pass.it on the way in.  At first glance it doesn't look like much but we had a lovely stay. Room was very clean and the restaurant right on the premises was not only convenient but served excellent food.  We highly recommend the Gypsy Point Lodge.  Thank you for a lovely stay, Joanne and Frank

This was an overnight stay on our way up to the nsw ski resorts. We stayed in a Queen/single garden view room and it was clean and what you would expect from a nice motel. Dinner was at the on-site restaurant. The meals were very expensive, but well cooked and tasty. So many things to do in the area, so much wildlife. We will be returning to spend a week at gipsy point, so very glad we found it.

Nice position but room totally outdated and dingy with a musty smell. The walls are paper thin and not at at all soundproof. We stayed in room no.7 and the door would not close let alone lock. We had to put a suitcase against it….very poor!! The restaurant is very expensive for very ordinary food! We won’t be going back.

Felt like we were staying in a deserted school camp! Only positive is that it was very quiet. Seems like no care is given. Restaurant only open at night. Service is not good and whilst food was ok, it wasn’t nearly worth the price. No one around, no atmosphere, certainly won’t be back

We enjoyed our stay and found the host very flexible and our room was lovely. The room was clean, quite big, and well appointed with everything we needed. The bathroom was clean, bright and airy with plenty of space on the sink and nice toiletries. The lodge is very quiet nestled among trees, and we saw wallabies around the garden. It was very easy to arrange arrival and departure, we’ll communicated and contactless.

We will never ever book a room at this place ever again. The room was very out dated and musky smelling but the biggest shock was the restaurant. We booked a table for two on my wife's birthday. I asked the nice lady working there if they served any non alcoholic beers. She said "no". I asked if I was allowed to bring one in from my room to have with my meal. She said she would have to check. She went out the back to ask. She came back and said "no". We proceeded to sit down when the guy from the back came out who I assume is one of the owners. He was obviously very offended that I had even asked such a thing and proceeded to talk to me as if I was a moron and making us feel very uncomfortable for being there. He was extremely rude and aggressive. I don't think hospitality is the right industry for this bloke. We decided to leave and we enjoyed a lovely birthday meal at the Mallacoota Hotel instead. I can see why we were the only guests at this place on a public holiday.

My husband booked this thinking we would be having a nice room by the river. Yes there is a river view about 400m away through trees, however no balcony to even take in the distant view, just a shared balcony out front looking over the driveway. Walls are paper thin can hear the next room is the toilet, food when available is overpriced, service is poor!

Avoid! Just terrible. Rooms outdated, no reception, dirty facilities and overpriced basic food. Best of staying in Mallacoota at the hotel or even in your car. Owners didn’t care and were rude. Stay away
