After our $5 bus ride from San Jose, Tobi picked us up from the bus station and took us up to the hotel which is away from town. October is the wettest month of the year, so it was very quiet. They fed us very well. The rooms are clean and there is a kitchen in every room I believe,... More

Harry, Was great having you and your sons visit us in The Cloud Forest. Rainy season along with hurricane season makes Monteverde a bit wet, but that is why we have such amazing ecosystems. Yes you are right all our Villas have a small kitchenette. Glad you enjoyed COLIBRÍ and TOUCAN, 2 of our 5 Villas... Thank you for sharing... More

We thought we made a mistake the first night we arrived. The toilet seat was not attached to toilets for rooms smelled wierd. But the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. Slow season so we were only guest in large hotel. Short hike to park entrance and short hike to down town Monte Verde.

Not a place where we'll be coming back to. Loud disco that goes on and on, into late hours with complete disregard to guests. Filthy, run down rooms and bedding, filthy, run down dining room with chipped dishes, stained and dirty table cloths, dirty dishes. Terrible breakfast, terrible coffee, dirty glasses and silverware. More like a hostel than a hotel.... More

If you are going to Costa Rica for the hotels, you may want to keep looking. But if you're going for the experience of Costa Rica, this is a good choice! It is a bit rustic, no washcloths, only one bath towel per person, no TV or air conditioning, but the grounds are beautiful. We had a rainy couple of... More

Our tour group was to have been booked at the Trapp Family Lodge. However, our tour operator fell victim to a scam website that preyed on that exceptional facility, leaving our group with only one hotel choice at Montverde. It was awful. Some of the rooms had no electricity which meant there was no water either. The hotel got that... More

Stayed here last week and cut our stay short. Room was pieced together with boards and two by fours, no glasses, no wash clothes, no chair in the room. Had to ask for light bulbs, glasses, hangers (we received three). We had a King bed and the bedding was too small so after an hour in bed the bottom sheet... More

Me and my girlfriend went there in February. Monteverde is nice but not the hotel. Rooms should be repainted and It is very dark inside. The toilet is purple. Windows are broken and it was impossible to close them completely (so it was noisely and cold). The hotel is located far from the city (hard to go there by walk)... More

Arrive and checked in, their crib is broken so we have to sleep with our 2 year old. The room gets really cool at night and we took the blankets off the other bed to stay warm. There was no phone, coffee maker or even a clock. So each morning you could buy a cup of coffee for 2$ US.... More

I can't say how the prices compare to other places. The location is great in that it is close to the park entrance. The rooms are really rustic, it's not the cleanest place if that is important to you. The staff are really great, helpful and friendly.

At the end of May, beginning of June we had about 15 students and 9 adults go on a trip and stayed at this hotel for a couple of days. The staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. It was amazing that some of the staff were bilingual, since I don't speak Spanish and they were trying to teach me... More

The standard rooms come equipped with two double beds, one single bed, and a private hot water bathroom.
