Nice place and did enjoy my stay there. Friendly staff and always there to help you, no matter what you need. Transportation to and from your room, which was great because the restaurant was at the bottom of the hill. Have to be careful with leaving any kind of food in your room, the little ants are there just waiting...

We enjoyed staying here. The room was nice, bed was comfy, location was great. We could walk into town easily. The food for breakfast was good and although we didn't partake in dinner, it looked very good too. We appreciated the humor of the little signs throughout the hotel. They also left us chocolates on our anniversary and baileys and...

We offer four different categories of room and it's definitely worth the time to read the descriptions of each on our website to be able to determine which is the best option for you. We have 28 rooms. 12 Forest View Downstairs,...

Just treated ourselves to one night here, but would have liked to stay longer. Room was nice, great view of the jungle and mountains from the second floor. Staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was some of the best of our two weeks, and I wish I had some of it right now. Grounds were impeccable...

Dear Angela_ScottT, We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed you stay at the lodge and that the food was some of the best on your two week tour of Costa Rica. Since you enjoyed MOnteverde Lodge so much, you would probably also like our sister lodge in Tortuguero National Park, Tortuga Lodge & Gardens, also featured here on...

Stayed here for two nights and had a really nice room with a forest view. The room was very large and had a nice clean modern bathroom. The Lodge included breakfast which was excellent and the staff were friendly and eager to assist if required. The property had beautiful gardens and a wonderful pool area with bar. The birds and...

Dear philip2010, It sounds like the lodge was a great fit for you. This is a great time of year to enjoy the gardens and our pool with cloud forest views. Depending on what you want to do in terms of activities while you are in Monteverde, we suggest 2-4 nights. This will give you time to do all the...

Excellent staff and service. Picturesque location. Great value for your money. Request a Garden view room on the upper floor. Good base to use for local activities. Get out and see the area. Love the butterfly garden in the main section fo the hotel.

Dear Thomas O, Thank you for sharing how much you enjoyed the lodge. You're right, the Butterfly Garden is something that our guests enjoy. It's great for working on your photography, sitting to watch the butterflies with your morning coffee and learning about the life cycle of butterflies. If you happen to be traveling with children, be prepared to spend...

The basic idea is to spend as little time in your room as possible. There is much to recommend about Monteverde in general, and the Lodge in particular, but don't go there expecting a 5-star resort town. The gardens and property are what set this place apart; they are exceptional. The room we stayed in was a king bed room...

Dear csmichelson, Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions here on Trip Advisor. You're right, if what is important to you is the room and the luxuries that can be found in a hotel room, Monteverde Lodge & Gardens is not for you. Many of our guests tell us that they love their rooms, which are cozy...

Monteverde Lodge & Gardens provided a pleasant stay after a grueling drive to Monteverde. The rooms were well appointed and quite cozy. Grounds were extremely well maintained and provided many scenic and relaxing areas. The staff were all top notch, friendly and anxious to make our stay pleasant . Very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Would stay again.

Simple but elegant rooms. Nice bed. We were out each day at 6AM so they packed us a take away breakfast. Excellent service. One of the staff took us on a tour one afternoon for 90 minutes and we say Capuchins and 9 species of birds in the tree in the parking lot. His scope was excellent for picture taking....

Dear MLG1958, It sounds like you were a perfect fit for the lodge, a comfortable home base for exploring the cloud forest and discovering wildlife. The luxuries are in the service style which is personalized, informal, caring. No background music. Well the clue is in the name: Cloud Forest so of course it might be damp, what we hadn't expected was quite so much wind - but it is high in the divide between Atlantic & Pacific. Charming team of receptionists, poolside bar and other staff equally pleasant Easy access to the forest and town however 'town' not a place...

Dear John D, You're right, given that we are in a Cloud Forest so you should expect it to be damp. The Monteverde Cloud Forest is at 4600 feet above sea level. Our average annual temperature is 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Annual rainfall is 118 inches and humidity runs 74-94%. It's precisely this climate that creates the environment that guests come...

One of the earlier hotels built to serve tourism in the Monteverde cloud forest, this is now showing its age and needs a lot of work. The grounds are an attractive mixture of trees and flowers, with nature trails, but they are rather run-down. The bedrooms are rather basic and badly insulated from corridor and neighbour noise. The public rooms...

Dear ldhf, You're right that Monteverde Lodge was one of the first hotels in Monteverde. The lodge was built in 1991 and at that time, we were the second lodge in the region with private bathrooms. So the architecture, which many of our guests love, reflects the time that it was build. Over the years we've updated the lodge, but...
