We stayed with our 2 children who loved the big open grassy area to run around and play. The general manager, Daniel, was a HUGE help in answering our questions, arranging transportation both to and from Monteverde, calling taxis for us and having great local tips and advice.

In addition to all of the perks of being in the forest there are some awesome small businesses where you can get healthy, local foods, artesian goods and do yoga within 5 minutes walk. Walking to Santa Elena is 20-30 minutes, big hike up the hill back or a cab is $4-5 usd. Lots of hiking trails and view points...

This is a great place to stay in Monteverde. Our room was very clean, and very spacious. We stayed in a family room, and we had a fridge too. The staff speaks english at check-in and check-out, the free wifi is good and the breakfast is delicious!

Positives: The beds were clean, the staff was friendly (Joshua, very helpful), and the breakfast was good. Also a plus, a night tour leaves from the hotel and is pretty reputable in the area. Negatives: Had to pay for a taxi every time we wanted to go somewhere in town, make sure to factor that into the overall price. Shower...

Hi Will, Thanks for the feedback. For some travelers the location is not so convenient. For others, they love it as we are away from the noisy/crowed/busy/turisty Santa Elena :) However, we are a 5-min drive to it... We also have more than 10 shops at walking distance (including two restaurants for dinner) within a one-minute-walk from our place. You...

If you're looking for bare bones accommodations in a quiet setting, this is your spot. Joshua, the staff who checked us in was very kind and helpful and spoke good English. There is breakfast but it's sparse and not very tasty. Like most of Monteverde, you access Hotel El Bosque by rough gravel road. There is no TV, no A/C,...

Hi Victoria, Thanks for your opinion. We're a simple/budget ecolodge with lots of wildlife and quietness for nature lovers... Everyone else can surely pay $10 more dolars and surround themselves with buildings, crowds and noise back in Santa Elena. Cheers, Daniel Lalinde

The hotel and rooms are simple but in a beautiful natural location a little outside of town. You would probably want your own vehicle if you stay here but for Monteverde the price is reasonable. We saw lots of monkeys, capybaras and other wildlife just on the hotel grounds. The wifi was not working well when we were there so...

Thanks Jason! We have the best WiFi in the area but there was an issue with a Telco anthena that affected multiple establishments (us included) that particular day... It's up and running now, though. Regards, Daniel Lalinde

The hotel is located within its own extensive forested grounds, with a plethora of wildlife on the doorstep and used by many guides for morning bird watching walks and evening wildlife walks. Nearby are a few shops, a very good Italian restaurant and Stella's - a great place for coffee and lunch, with its own bird tables attracting a wealth...

First, reception was just excellent. Super helpful and personable! Rooms are large and clean and have a refrigerator and good space for storing and hanging clothes. They would benefit from the addition of night tables and lamps. Parking is easy and plentiful, right next to your room. In front of the rooms, you'll find a lovely variety of flowers and...

We stayed at the Hotel El Bosque for our entire visit to Monteverde. The accommodations are basic, but this is by design. In terms of dollar value, this was an excellent choice. Although not a "Hotel" as the name suggests, the semi-attached cabin type rooms serve their purpose. The rooms do not have air conditioning, and are sparsely furnished. So...

As others have said this is a fairly basic level of accommodation but its clean, the breakfast was good and its in a decent location for the parks. The rooms are quite spacious, but ours seemed to lack any electric sockets other than in the bathroom which seemed odd...made it a bit difficult charging ipads, phones cameras etc over the...

Hi Tim, Thanks for your feedback. We will put signs for people not to feed the monkeys, etc. I will also talk to the guys at the Night Tour, trails are open all day until 5pm. After 5pm it's dangerous to go in and get lost in the dark so that will need to continue. There are sockets but you...
