I only had the pleasure of staying in Hotel El Establo for one night. It was one of the hotels we stayed in as a part of the Adventure Tour from Costa Rica Monkey Tours. I was really impressed with this hotel, the different buildings were spread out over a hillside. There are two restaurants, two swimming pools, bars, a...

El Establo is a nice, classy, well built, beautifully located hotel. I liked it - but - it has a lot of little drawbacks. If you can live with these, fine - it's a beautiful place. This hotel is built to last - lots of concrete and stone with lots of nice wood accents. The rooms are relatively large, the...

This hotel is arranged in nine blocks, some of which are near to reception, but most are way up a steep road. We were in block 6 and it was a good 20 minute walk to the reception area and the restaurant. A minibus is available to transport guests around the complex, if you ring reception and wait, but a...

The Royal Forestry Society coach driver used all his skills to drive us up to this fascinating hotel. A fleet of mini busses would afterwards ferry us up and down to reception and restaurant. In the evening of our first night I walked higher up the road and met an armadillo. Took a video of it searching for food in...

This place was the only ‘mistake’ we made on our recent trip to Costa Rica, in the sense that we wished we'd picked somewhere else in the area – the reviews and pictures paint a pretty picture, but for us (a couple in our mid-thirties) it didn’t add up and was very underwhelming. One or two things really grated. Starting...

Beautiful, scenic, clean rooms with wonderful customer service. Not to mention the rooms are gigantic! The only down side is wi-fi is only available in common areas - not the rooms. I stayed here as part of a group trip so I am unsure of the cost but the hotel at whatever cost is definitely worth it, if you're looking...

My only complaint for this hotel would be the lack of air conditioning. The rooms are very spacious with an amazing view. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and bar that also has a great view. My screen saver has a picture of this hotel so that I can remember my amazing trip! We booked our trip through a web...

Great staff, clean and spacious rooms, super friendly family canopy on the premises, nice bar, pool, etc. In short the best comfortable stay for families and couples who want a "city style" hotel inserted in the forest. The view is spectacular from the upper rooms.

Our family of the stayed here for two nights. We opted for the king suite. This meant there was a loft upstairs with a bed and two chairs-also a window for breezes. Our room was clean. It was very basic but comfortable. Beds were fine. The balcony had two wooden rocking chairs. We were able to see to the gulf...

The area is beautiful. The room we had was great with an upstairs loft and downstairs room with 2 king beds and a great balcony view. The staff answered questions in a respectful way but I wouldn't say they were overly enthusiastic. The breakfast was not good and when I saw the staff adding milk to warm milk that had...
