What a beautiful place to stay! Carlos & Paula were wonderful. We stayed in 5 places during our August visit to CR. Casa Batsu was our favorite. It's not a fancy place; rather, it's cozy, very clean, amazing hosts, beautiful location & grounds, within walking distance of Santa Elena. Oh, and the amazing breakfasts! So good!!! This was a father/daughter (20 years old) trip. Casa Batsu was our hands-down favorite.

After reading so many wonderful reviews I wasn't sure if Casa Batsu would live up to them, but it absolutely does. It was our favorite place of everywhere we stayed on our trip, in large part thanks to Carlos, his family, and his wonderful staff. We stayed in the Colibri family suite which was just perfect for a small family. Our son really enjoyed having his own space including his own bathroom. The room was immaculately clean and the main bathroom was huge! There are so many special touches including the wonderful fresh flowers picked from the garden each day. Although it's right off of one of the patios, we were never disturbed by noise and the lights were always turned off at night. Our friends stayed in the junior suite which offers more privacy and is a beautiful space too, especially for a couple. As some others have mentioned, if you can get Carlos to cook you a dinner, don't miss it. It was truly special and absolutely delicious. I just wish our stomachs were bigger. The breakfasts were by far the best we had as well, with something different each day and catering to our dietary restrictions. You really didn't need to eat lunch with the amount of food you get at breakfast. The location was perfect for us. It's on a main road, but the noise wasn't bothersome and it was convenient to walk to dinner or town. Just up the road is a fabulous place to watch the sunset if you're lucky enough to get some clear skies. Carlos was so incredibly generous of his time and hospitality. He gave us rides on more than one occasion, recommended a great driver, helped us arrange tours, and didn't mind answering our many questions about life in Costa Rica. This is a really special place.

We loved our stay at Casa Batsu. Carlos and family were extremely kind, caring and helpful. Plus, we had the BEST breakfast and dinner we've had in Costa Rica! The food was truly exceptional! Wine on arrival, and a really well styled room. Would recommend!

Casa Batsu is one of those rare places that you come across as a traveler that is so perfect that you almost don’t want anyone else to know about! Carlos and Paula go out of their way to make their home feel like your home- if your home happened to come with gourmet breakfast served on an amazing patio with the best coffee in the world...and if your home had lovely staff who created towel art animals for you everyday...and if your home came with a guy who knew all the best tour guides, best local restaurants and best places to experience Monteverde( thanks Carlos!) We absolutely cannot wait to return, thanks again Carlos and Paula!

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay here while we were in Monteverde. From the moment we arrived the customer service provided by Carlos and his family was truly impressive including homemade fruit smoothies when we arrived and a ride to the Monteverde Cloud Forest to save us the money on a cab a couple days later. Our room was spotless and comfortable, the grounds were gorgeous, and the cat and dog that live on property were a friendly added bonus. We were treated to the biggest room, the Quetzal, since we were the only ones there and it was lovely with a private patio that was a great touch that I often took advantage of. The daily housekeeping was also immaculate. Additionally, the breakfast was truly spectacular and way more impressive than anything I have experienced at any other bnb. It included fruit each morning followed by an array of other items depending on the morning (some mornings pancakes, others sausage and tortillas with cheese, sometimes eggs to order). Overall the amount of food was only paralleled by the beauty of the plates and the taste. We were also lucky enough to have dinner here one night which I would highly recommend. For only $25 each we were treated to a full 5 course meal including wine with one course being better than the last. We particularly enjoyed the tuna steak and the passion fruit dessert. If we ever return to the area I would not hesitate to stay here again and will tell anyone else I know to do the same.
