Saw this establishment on the Internet and booked for the night. Arrived at the closed gate which wasn't very inviting. After entering, we appeared to be in the way of the resident family (owners?) and even the receptionist wasn't very friendly. When asked about dinner; as advertised on Internet; was almost scoffed at: "No, we don't do dinner." The room...

We booked this "B&B" the day before we were due to arrive. When we arrived (Saturday afternoon, 4pm) the gates were closed. We tried calling the access number to be told that the number was not in use. We tried calling the number on the webaite and, while so doing, someone from insidoe remotely opened the gates - twenty frustrating...

I didn't stay here, but we came for a wedding, that was supposed to be a beautiful sunny beach wedding, but it bucketed down with rain. The staff seemed very efficient in putting together plan B, with the ceremony area being cleared away and tables for canapes and drinks set up, under our feet in no time at all. The...

As I was looking for a bush holiday in KZN, I stumbled upon this establishment. Its location is great, nice and peaceful. This rustic looking lodge was very clean inside, friendly staff but they should consider investing on a backup generator as on two occasions we had blackouts and waited a while on the second day, in the dark. This is...

This is a place we all wish we could have called home by the river and the sea. The best of both worlds and yes just of the main roads and total bliss from the noise and madness of people and society. The simple and rustic accommodation offers everything you could want. This is not for the snobby or "...

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the lodge. When we arrived we were welcomed by a very friendly lady. The room was big enough and very neat. The yard is well taken care of. Make sure you buy your food and drinks before you get there as the bar is closed. Breakfast and coffee yummy. I would definately...

We stayed for 2 nights at the river lodge. Pricing was R2500 for 2 nights including breakfast. Upon arrival we were hardly greeted by staff. The guy who checked us in didnt introduce himself. Didnt bother letting us know what facilities were available. Didnt bother explaining when breakfast would be. The rooms were adequate and spacious. But the tv had...

Enjoyed our 2 night stay at the lodge purchased by way of a groupon voucher. The location is beautiful and wonderfully peaceful. The lodge itself is rustic but sufficient nontheless. The grounds are well kept with a nice pool and plenty of space for our 2 year old to play, as well as a seesaw and trampoline. Breakfast was yummy...

We were convinced that Umtamvuna would be a magical wedding venue, the photographs look amazing, but when we drove through the gate my heart sank. We thought we were at a backpackers, not a wedding venue with a huge venue hire fee. The location is beautiful but the lodge needs serious maintenance, it is way beyond "rustic". It is definitely...
