Stayed here to avoid the heavy rain Sydney got recently. It’s a really great Bondi location, super close to the beach and shops and only a 2 minute walk to the bus stop to get into Bondi junction and Sydney. Rooms were very budget, cheap bunk beds squeaked and swayed when the top person climbed on, very cramped and no where to lock large belongings- small lockers were outside the rooms. Staff chucked belongings under the beds when vacuuming, I am a neat person and had a very tidy pile of belongings including my thongs (flip flops) neatly placed next to my suitcase. When I got back from downstairs one shoe had been flung into the unknown never to return. Bathrooms were very small, only two toilets but very clean. No fan so they got very hot very quickly and the whole room flooded when someone showered and I saw many people slipping. Not a lot of indoor communal space to sit however the kitchen was clean, well stocked and they washed all your dishes which was wonderful. Compulsory $1/day charge on top of price for free food and surfboards and other sports equipment which is great if you want to take advantage of that but I couldn’t eat any of the food and wasn’t interested in using the sports equipment, but $1 isn’t much. Overall, good budget accomodation for a few nights, for people who want to hit the town, not good for families and not ideal for people who want to sleep.

Bondi Beach Backpackers is a good, reasonably priced place to stay in Bondi Beach. The location is great, just a half a block from the beach. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance and it's right next door to the post office.

Richard, the manager, was super helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty when something of mine went missing. Because of all the CCTVs around the place he was able to determine that I was the culprit!! It turned out that I had the missing item with me when I walked by one of the cameras! I had absentmindedly carried it with me instead of leaving it on my bike like I usually do! 😝

Lily, the live-in, assistant manager, was very accommodating and helpful as well. She brings a colorful and cheerful presence to the place and is almost always available to help out with minor or major needs.

I stayed in Room 6 for a couple of months. There was a bedside table on either side of the bed with a lamp on each. There was a dresser where I was able to put most of my clothes away and there was an extra bunk bed where I spread out the rest of my stuff. I found the mission style bed to be quite comfortable and it matched nicely with the side tables and dresser.

In the main lounge area, just off the kitchen, there are a couple of big tables with lots of different games. I particularly enjoyed the two chess boards, even though I lost more than I won! There are lots of other games as well and a place for charging one's mobile device. The kitchen has plenty of space for storing one's food, both in and out of the fridge. Richard was good enough to get some extra mixing bowls when I mentioned that there was a need for some! An unexpected amenity was that we weren't required to clean our plates and bowls and silverware, just our pots and pans!

There was lots of space outside in a protected courtyard and I was able to safely store my bike there. The bike parking was only partially covered so I got a rain cover to protect it fully from the rain. One of the guests found some used exercise equipment so it's possible to get a bit of a workout if you so desire. Once a month, or so, there is a pot-luck meal and there is a gas range outside to cook your food. That's really nice, particularly when the weather is good.

All in all, Bondi Beach Backpackers was a comfortable, friendly place that I recommend.

Bondi Beach Backpackers is the best Backpackers you could possibly find in Bondi Beach ! The best one I've been too since I'm in Australia. The place is so great and tidy, and the staff is do nice. They really know how to make sure that you will have a great time during your stay. On rainy days, you can be certain that you won't get bored here at BBB because there's plenty of things to do.

We had been living in Bondi for 7 months already and temporarily had to bed down in a hostel while we waited for our new house.
Picking surfside was the biggest mistake I made in my two years of travelling.
The man running it is the most ego-inflated, erratic and strange person. Even if you don’t do anything wrong, your $50 deposit will be taken in increment. This is used to fund the “free” amenities plastered all over the place.
$3 a day is taken from everyone to pay for these - so if you’re on a tight budget, make sure you’re first in line for the 8 sausages that are cooked up at the weekly “free” bbq as that’s your money paying for it.
The hostel offers absolutely nothing in terms of quality. The rooms are tiny, they stink, the bunks are crammed together, there are very few charging ports, and they are constantly messy. Every single one.
There are two toilets for the entire hostel which are the filthiest I’ve ever seen.
After Wakeup Bondi had their big reno they raised their prices to reflect the improvements they had made. We were in Surfside when this happened around November, and suddenly the prices leaped up to the same prices as Wakeup. The managers only reasoning was: “well, Wakeup upped their prices”.
The manager is visibly angry if you book/extend your stay online via hostelworld etc because you can get it much cheaper than if you book through him, as he varies the price for current occupants wildly depending on how he’s feeling that day.
Absolute scam of a hostel. Avoid at all costs.
Would advise spending a little extra and enjoying life at Wakeup, or moving to Noah’s.

Great location, great atmosphere and lovely staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. This is a bargain for staying in the center of Bondi beach 1 minute from the beach, bars and restaurants. Thanks and I will definitely come back.

I wanted to cry myself to sleep the 5 nights I spent here. What a rotten way to start my time in Bondi. Thank goodness I got out of there. 6 bunkbeds cramped into one room, hot, stuffy, and smelly. I suppose it's not the hostel's fault but the lack of respect between guests was appalling. One night a girl on the top bunk peed the bed and it leaked through to the person below. Lights would be turned on 3/4 am without so much as an apology. No effort to keep the building maintained or looking nice at all. Just gross. Such a money grab - better looking up Airbnbs or for accoms on FB or Gumtree. Great location though.

Bondi Backpackers has absolutely everything you want!

The location cannot be more convenient with a 39 second walk to Bondi beach whilst being surrounded by excellent cafes, restaurants, bars and shops!

The staff are incredible. They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable and smooth. They are available to help with any queries and do all they can to meet your needs. Rich is a star!!

The cleanliness is superb! With housekeeping staff ensuring that communal hallway, bathrooms, toilets etc are all spotless!

Rooms have plenty of space for everyone, the kitchen is spacious too with plenty of fridge space and the communal areas are great for socialising! It even has an outside area too!

I can’t believe what you get here at Bondi Backpackers for such a good price too!

Stayed here for the first couple of nights but then decided to extend my stay for a further week! The hostel is in a prime location with just being around the corner from Bondi Beach, bars, shops and restaurants. The hostel is clean, sociable and very welcoming. Very good value for money . Would definitely recommend to a friend!

The staff was extremely unprofessional and unfriendly. I had a private room and the host of the hostel messed up the key situation 2 times in 24 hours which led to people just walking into my room with a key they had received, scaring me both times and making me feel very unsafe. Due to there not being any isolation in the room and the windows broken it was extremely cold and when asking the host for a solution he simply did not care. Due to those reasons, as well as it being extremely loud all night in the hostel i had to terminate my stay, even though the reasons were presented clearly I did not receive a refund for the 2 additional nights I had paid for.

Very nice hostel, it's 50 meters away from the beach and at the same time it's a place where you can relax. The staff of the hostel are ery kind and sometimes they prepare food for all the guests. I would come more times here for sure!
