The room (106) had most of what we need: a good bed, good pillows, microwave and fridge. The shower was great, a rain head but with enough water pressure. The bathroom was small but adequate. The bathroom sink was too small to actually use. The kitchenette had only 2 bowls, 2 mugs, and 2 sets of cutlery. It was provided with an electric kettle and toaster. Also packets of instant coffee and teabags, and cookies. The room is one of the quieter rooms at this hotel, according to the manager, as the hotel is located on a busy street with an outdoor beer garden on ground level. Great location for walking the beach or along the cliff top paved walkway to other beaches. The mini-split air conditioner was good. The trade off for a quiet room is that there are no actual windows in room 106. Three very small windows more than 6 feet above floor level, that look at walls. One could walk down the hallway to reach a communal balcony. But when in the room, there was no light or view at all. The listing showed a large window and balcony, even stated that there was a view. The manager would have relocated us, but we didn't want to repack for one more night's stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The old hotel has a wonderful ambience. Just don't stay in room 106 or similar corner rooms. The last morning, as we were packing to leave, some sort of animal or bird was trapped in a vent above the ceiling, making a terrible racket. Manager called animal control, and we decided to check out early, although he offered to have us sit in the lobby with a coffee. If we were to stay there again, we would make sure that we had a window, preferably with a balcony and ocean view.

The appeal of this hotel is really all about the location—and it is fantastic! Right on the main street facing the beach in Bondi. The hotel has historic appeal but the rooms are modern and updated. They are basic but quite clean and well maintained. Shower was hot with good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C works great! Despite an ominous warning on the check-in sheet starting that "a quiet room is not guaranteed," it was quite peaceful and we had wonderful sleep while here. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. We got an early check-in by about two hours and they also stored our luggage before our room was ready so we could go out and get lunch. Very handy when arriving on an international flight! I reserve 5 stars for absolutely outstanding experiences but there was nothing to complain about here—this was a phenomenal experience with an unbeatable price for this location.

My husband and I met in the Bondi Hotel 18 years ago and we returned to Australia for his parents wedding anniversary. After landing in Sydney I booked the 2 bedroom apartment so we could catch our bearings before heading up the coast. The weather wasn’t great but it was still amazing to wander around Campbell parade and hall street and see how things have changed and what has stayed the same. The hotel was very clean. The service was pretty great. We arrived at 10:30am and our room was ready so they let us check in early which we were not expecting. They gave us beach towels as well which was very handy. We had dinner in the bistro which was pretty good and reasonably priced. There are plenty of shops within walking distance to get coffee or food if you would like to cook. The room had a full kitchen. There are no windows in the bedrooms. This was fine for one night. Would stay here again.

Most of the staff at the front counter had personalities of wet fish. They barely looked at me as I was checking in and checking out. Barely said a word, like they were just there to get paid and finish their shifts. I stayed there with two of my children. Around 3.30am one morning we had someone try to break into our room. It was very scary. After calling security, we found out it was an intoxicated male who I’m just hoping had the wrong room. We got no follow up calls, no one from management asked if we were ok...not a single thing. The facilities were very clean and the views amazing, but if you want basic customer service, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Our room wasn’t ready at check in time but we were sent up anyway to find three cleaners in the room. Annoying.
Despite being on the third floor away from the Main Street on a Monday night we could still here the very busy bar outside the front of the hotel. It looked like fun if you were still drinking late but not so fun to drink through.
The hotel itself is over 100 years old so probably built before soundproofing. The windows carried sound as if they weren’t closed.
Location is excellent for Bondi.
An ok stay.

Amazing hotel. The manager was so friendly and allowed us to have our rooms early as we arrived in the early hours of the morning. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Across the road from the beach.
Food and drinks amazing value compared to the rest of Bondi. $14 a cocktail, steak about $30 and really great. Friendly and very clean. We had the balcony you see in the photo and worth while paying the extra. Go enjoy.

A beautiful iconic building with wonderful views of Bondi Beach from Balcony Room. Staff are a credit to the establishment but unfortunately the decor is old and requires urgent upgrading. By far the worst part of the location is the continuous never-ending road noise. I had zero sleep during my break there. One day they will install double glazing hopefully 🙏

Bar staff amazing. Chefs not so amazing.
Went with the steak and mash medium rare. Received well done steak with chips.
Complained which I never do and received another well done steak with mash this time.
Complaining gets you nowhere it seems.
Just order blue and you may get medium rare.

Old building recently done up. Rooms small and dated and street noise due to old style single glazed windows. Staff nice and helpful. Bar and restaurant very good vfm with happy hours and specials throughout the day. Disco open til 430am but can’t hear it on second floor! Curious Communal area leading from bedrooms open to elements on one side. Maybe to cool rooms during summer? Perfect location for bondi beach but make sure to do the coastal walk to coogee bay. Takes about an hour and you pass lots of lovely beaches with a pavilion in coogee serving a wide range of food and drinks.

As a family of 4 we stayed at Hotel Bondi for 2 nights on our way home from New Zealand to Ireland. Unfortunately it was a Saturday when we arrived and the nightclub went on until the early hours of the morning. I’m well aware of the location as I lived in Sydney 20 years ago. But it was quite bad and the earplugs didn’t help much.
We had an excellent 2 bedroom suite which was immaculate. Very clean and comfortable beds with excellent bathroom. However we were extremely disappointed to learn on checkout that they couldn’t keep our bags. Our flight wasn’t until 10pm that night. I have never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t provide this service. We ended up sitting on the grass across the road with our luggage for the afternoon. A poor end to a great holiday.
