Detailed Reviews
I don't normally leave reviews so easily, but about this hostel I would like to complain.
The rooms are very small, there are no lockers and hardly any space to store your things. The ensuite bathroom is also minuscule, making it barely usable. Also the mattresses are very hard.
The communal areas are okay in terms of how clean it is, but again very small and without windows. There is no normal place to sit and eat, although the kitchen is fine.
Furthermore, there are a lot of weird people in this hostel and it is not social at all. Also, the staff behind the reception makes absolutely no effort to help you.
Only the location of this hostel, 3 min walk from Bondi beach is great. Other than that, I would definitely not recommend this.

Pray that you aren’t in room one.
The walls and window are so thin that if you intend on sleeping before 4am on a Friday night/Saturday morning that’s wishful thinking. Considered sleeping in my car. Redeeming quality they refunded that night

We stayed 4 nights at The Village in a private room. It's a pretty basic hostel really. We slept well and the kitchen/laundry facilities are all good. I would just recommend wearing ear plugs at night time. Best location to stay for Bondi Beach.

My partner and I arrived at 5.30 and I got the email to say the reception was going to be opened until 7pm
We found our key in the lockbox, Our key had room #46 but didn’t unlock room #46 in fact we were trying to get into someone else’s room. Turns out we were room 51 after we tried to contact the two numbers on the receptions door 6 times until we could get through. We had 5 bags plus a snowboard bag to drag up to the very top of the stairs because our key couldn’t unlock the storage rooms.
Since there was no reception open my partner and I couldn’t hire our 2 towels for the night so we had to dry ourselves with a tshirt.
The reception wasn’t open the next morning when we checked out so had no clue how to pay. And once again had to call 3 times to get hold of anyone to know what to do.
My partner and I left very unhappy with the service they provided us as we have just arrived from New Zealand and had been on the go for 48 hrs. Will not be recommending this hostel to anyone.
Cheers

I’ll start with the positive, the woman on reception was really friendly and polite. That was it.
The room was absolutely disgusting, I had to swat about 5 mosquitoes, and the walls were covered in squished bugs from previous tenants.
The room itself was tiny, the ‘en suite’ was like Harry Potter’s bedroom. Sheets were just thrown on the bed and we had to put them ourselves (boo hoo). No towels were provided. The beds were made of concrete. The walls were paper thin and unbelievably coarse which when getting down from the bunkbed I grazed my arm.
Other tenants just pile out into the street making the place look so uninviting. I feel sorry for actual residents on that street it must be hell. In the reception area, they left the dirty laundry basket that was FILLED with bloody tissues just out in the open for guests to see.
If you want a good night sleep don’t go here. If you want to just listen to loud club music against your will maybe this is the place for you.

Litter strewn on the floor at the main door of the hostel, one of the toilets in the hall was filthy with the bin overflowing. We were staying in a private room, which was absolutely tiny we barely had room to leave our suitcases on the ground. We would have been fine with the cramped conditions if it hadn’t been for the strong smell of urine in the room that greeted us when we arrived. Our private toilet was also miniscule and the smell of urine seemed to be coming up from the drain.
When we asked a member of staff to help alleviate the issue, they simply said that they “couldn’t smell anything.” We found it extremely difficult to sleep that night due to the overwhelming smell.
The next day we returned to our room to find that the cleaner had left the door open after changing the bins in the room which I find to be wholly unacceptable as our personal items were being kept in the room.
The general lack of space in the room and indifference from staff members was quite infuriating and we decided to cut our trip short- staff would not provide any compensation for us deciding to leave early.
The only positive was that the hostel is located within a few minutes of Bondi Beach.

Genuinely the worst place I have ever stayed in. the singular postive I could find is the location.
Issues-
Strong smell of urine in room
Private ‘room’ for 2 was the size of a closet.
Request to shorten trip and receive some form of compensation for the awful conditions was met with a ‘voucher’ for a similar hostel.
Room door left open by ‘cleaners’ on 2 occasions.
Aircon uncontrollable.

Great value for money.
Super clean.
Perfect location.
Most friendly staff ever. Booked for only 2 days and after talking to Susana from reception decided to stay for 2 more weeks.
Would definitely come back and certainly recommend you to try it!

Javier, Jaime and Ember were amazing! I arrived with loads of stuff and my booking was cancel and they all fix it and make it so smooth for me to settle. They give a hand to bring everything to the room! So nice and smooth!

Couldn’t fault our last stay!
An amazing stay at the Village Bondi! We had a private en-suite room and it was spotless and super cosy. The staff were really friendly and Eloise was an absolute gem, she really made our stay so enjoyable! The location is ideal with shops, restaurants and the beach within a few minutes.
Currently booked in for another week after a great previous stay. Would recommend 😊

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom18 contributions29 helpful votesHi , ive just booked a twin room with private bathroom, do we have our own toilet? and also ive just read on a review there is a 10pm curfew is that correct?
This accomodation is terrible. I don't think you will have a private
bathroom. Most probably it is outside and very near to your room.
10 PM curfew depends on the guests at the Hostel. During my stay it was pretty noisy.
