This place is located just couple of meters away from the busy Matara town. But perfect location as this is facing towards the Matara Beach. Rooms are quite good and worth for the money. All basic needs are there including TV, AC and Hot water. Staff is good and responsive. Food is also reasonably priced and tastes good. This place... More

If you want to experience a real Sri Lankan Hotel, select this one. It is located in a perfect spot close to the city center but away from hectic Matara. It is a mixture of colonial style and a Motel. Do not expect to get what exactly you order. The side dish might be different, some detail might be lost... More

Is it so hard to find English speaking work force? Tea and coffee are totally different drinks. When someone orders Sri Lanka style coffee they don't deserve instant. Guests should not be wandering around to find waiters. Otherwise great location, nice building

Stayed here for 2 nights, a popular place for weddings so can be a little busy but not intrusive. Staff were attentive, gold star to Sumedha who made sure that the food was to our taste, made some recommendations and was generally very helpful.

Stayed 3 nights. The room was filthy we tried not to touch anything. Towels looked as though they had never been washed. The table we used for breakfast had the same table cloth on for the duration of our stay. On the last morning they used an industrial insecticide machine. The wind blew it all over our breakfast.

The best for your money, nice cosy accommodation right in front of the beach. The staff is vey polite and brings to mind the colonial era the way they dressed. Best part is their food, usually most of the rest houses offer good tasty food, but the food at Matara Rest Hose is second none. I recommend this nice place... More

Combines the charm of a colonial place with up to times. Exterior is ambience and inside you have refrigerator, flat tv, etc. just by the sea. Very good food. We went for lunch, and when we discovered they had rooms. We decided to stay. I strongly recomend it

Situated within the Matara Fort right next to the beach. The main building has been restored after the Tsunami to its old world traditional feel. The extensions are more modern. Lunch buffet with Sri Lankan food was authentic and tasty. Drawback; they had only two small pots of curd for desert which was not sufficient for the number of patrons... More
