Stayed for one night, we were attending a family wedding and could not have picked a nicer B & B. Debbie was friendly, room was comfortable, clean and warm. View from room was pretty overlooking beautiful garden. Like the idea of making own breakfast, that way can get up when you want to, also large conservatory to have breakfast in,... More

The room was very clean with a continental style about it. well stocked fridge which meant we could have an early breakfast before our charity ride. The only problem was the bed was so uncomfortable- it is the worst bed i have ever "tried" to sleep in. I felt dreadful having not slept all night, before a long ride the... More

Stayed here for 5 nights between Christmas and New Year whilst working locally. Very nice clean and comfortable room, and loved the idea of sorting your own continental style breakfast at a time to suit you individually, hot porridge also available! Definately aimed at the business traveller, host Debbie very pleasant. Will stay again when next in area.

I booked this accommodation because its very close to the Writtle college where my exams were. I'm pleasantly surprised of the condition and the cleanliness - it is like just build. The owner is keeping the place very clean and homely. Lovely conservatory with lots of light. The breakfast is very good. The garden outside is just magnificent - I... More

We stayed in the Oak Lodge for a night whilst we went out to a lovely restaurant in picturesque (sp?!) Writtle. We stayed in what the lovely host Debbie calls 'the flatlet'. It's self contained, a sort of big studio, and has it's own en-suite and kitchen area, along with sofa, dining table and plenty of wardrobe space if you were... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights to attand a nearby wedding. We would definitely stay again, if in the area. Spotlessly clean accommodation, very friendly and helpful owner - Debbie - and very comfortable beds. The self-service kitchen was well-stocked with everything you could want for a buffet breakfast. Excellent for us - but not if you... More

I had never been moved to review anything on Tripadvisor, but there's a first time for everything. I had been frankly suspicious at how an establishment that charges only £30 for b&b could attract such glowing reviews. But, having stayed at Oak Lodge overnight, I can confirm their accuracy! A friendly welcome, a clean and comfortable room, free wifi access,... More

I've been staying here for one or two nights a week for the last three months. It is very convenient for Chelmsford and the kitchen makes it ideal, if like me, you don't want to have to go out to find dinner every night! A quick trip to Tesco or M&S and I'm all sorted. It is spotlessly clean and... More

I've been staying at Oaklodge for a few days each week for the best part of the last year while I work in Chelmsford. The warm, clean and well equipped rooms are ideal, full free view TV and wireless broadband are additions I had not been offered at other similarly priced B&Bs in the area. Working away from home a... More
