Detailed Reviews
We had a great overnight stay in Windorah at Cooper Cabins. The self-contained accommodation was great, well set out. We really enjoyed Windorah and the Western Star was very vigilent about COVID social distancing when we went there for dinner

Recently stayed one night on a driving holiday to Outback Qld. Super clean and friendly - very helpful owners and everything we could have wished for. Enjoyed the BBQ area and cabin was well appointed and spotless. Can't recommend highly enough. Will return for sure!!

My wife and I stayed two nights recently (on the way to and from Birdsville). The cabin was well-appointed. Clean and comfortable. The attached restaurant and bar was great. Good meals and good service. The price was reasonable and I recommend this accommodation site.

We had booked a cabin for my Aunts and Uncles and my cousin(Katrina) with her 3 children and my husband and I (Tania) with one adult daughter, were going to tent at the caravan park.
After arriving late afternoon, we decided we would like to hire cabins if any were available.
Here is the script of our conversation:
Katrina – “ Would you have a cabin available for tonight for 5 people?”
Tania– “I would like one for 3 if possible.”
Owner rolled her eyes – “Unorganised people make me soooo..... You can have cabins 1 or 6 – have a look and take your pick”
After checking, Katrina says “ Cabin 6 smells of cooking – can we have cabin one, and I looked in cabin 8 – could Tania have that one?”
Owner – “You are only going to cook in it and make more smells. Cabin 8 has only 2 beds.”
Tania – “You mean it only has 2 singles?”
Owner- “No”
Tania-“So there is a double and a single”
Owner- “Yes”
Tania- “So why can’t we have that one?”
Owner- “ Well I will have to bring you another towel and it probably won’t match.”
Aunt gives owner credit card.
Owner-“We can’t take that here, You have to pay at the bar.”
Aunt- “ OK. Do you have pensioners discount?”
Owner- “No. I still have to clean the room and I want to retire myself in 3 years”
I pay cash and receive a receipt which the book had no carbon paper (tax man might like that).
Aunt- “When do you open the restaurant?”
Owner- “I don’t. My husband does.”
Aunt- “ What time would that be?”
Owner – “5 o’clock.”
Aunt- “Do you have a menu?”
Owner- “They are in your rooms.”
Later, after eating burgers from the service station (highly recommended), I decided to do some washing. I go to the laundry which is locked so my husband goes next door to the bar to ask the owner to open it.
Owner (man)- “You have to pay”
Lindsay-“ We know that.”
Owner- “ Laundry is open until the bar closes.”
Lindsay- “What time is that?”
Owner- “8 o’clock”
So I do the washing, put it in the dryer and go to the laundry at 7.55 to find it locked.
I am getting really angry by now. Owner is walking toward us.
Me- “Can I get my laundry please?”
Owner- “ I told you I closed at 8”
I lost my patience.
Me- “This is the rudest [--] caravan park we have ever stayed in.”
Owner- “We get alot of rude people here.”
Me- “I’m not surprised.”
Owner- “My wife and I work from 7 in the morning to 11 at night”
Me- “[--]. You are closing now.”
Owner-“Take your washing now or I will throw it in the river.”
Me- “This is going to cost you more than it will cost me. I’m going on the internet to tell everyone.”

Accommodation is limited in this lovely little outback town but what is available will not disappoint. 9 Self contained cabins, nice layout, comfy beds and very clean and quite. Friendly owners and very well priced. Short walk to main street. Close drive to red sand dunes an the beautiful Cooper Creek part of the infamous Channel Country in Outback Qld. While meals are available, I cannot comment as I was on a business trip with a function at the local hotel which is a short walk away.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. A large portion of our clientele are business persons or wokers. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the facility and we hope that if you return in future that you may be able to enjoy one of our country style home cooked meals.

I do a lot of travel for work and i would have to rate this as one of the best places i get to stay at. After a hard days work, this little gem is one of central QLD's best kept secrets. Di and Chumpy always make me feel completely at home. The air con is turned on in anticipation of our arrival and Chumpy is at the ready to pour us a cold drink at the bar. The cabins are immaculate. The special touches like shampoos are an additional luxury. The meals are always fantastic. Di does a wonderful job of cooking a tasty homestyle meal and they always fill me to the brim. I cannot believe the negative feedback of other reviewers. It is a complete pleasure every time i stay here and i cannot recommend it highly enough.

The pub only had "pub"rooms left at $80!! so drove past this place and the cabins looked OK. Per the notice I went two doors down to enquire about a cabin. Lady came to front door and I asked how much a night and after looking me up and down was told $100 (in the pub someone told me he was paying $90) I asked to see a cabin and was told I would only be shown it if I paid for it first! She "wasn't going to walk there if I wasn't going to take a cabin".
Needless to say we moved onto Quilpie and the town missed out on some tourism dollars

Just rang to find out about the Birdsville races for 2014 and find out how much and when should I book.
my reply was "prices my change and we give first pick to the buses and what is left you can have, but they have not started to book yet"
So I guess even know I was willing to pay in full my money was not good enough.
I looked at this place because of the great reviews.
Could not be bothered with money hungry people.
So I hope all that do stay here that are on a bus find it a great place.

Recently we stayed in Cooper Cabins in Windorah, hosts Di & Chumpy were fantastic. There is a licensed Kiosk where we could enjoy a glass of wine over dinner to discuss the sites we had seen during day. A trip to Erromangah is well worth the drive
They were very clean and comfortable, ours was also self contained. Highly recommended, of course one has to remember they are on the edge of the desert.
You need to visit the heart of Australia to experience true "Outback" hospitality, I had lived in the west for many years, the hospitality is still as good as ever.

We spent one night in a cabin here in Windorah. The owner was busy cleaning when we arrived and quite a friendly lady too. The cabin was exceptionally clean, Shiny taps, no dust anywhere and the bedroom was seperate from the small lounge/dining area with the kitchenette opposite the ensuite. We parked directly in front of the cabin and beside each cabin is a paved area if you wanted to site outside. There is a restaurant however not open on a Sunday night. We felt these were the cleanest, tides cabins we’ve stayed in anywhere in the Western part of Queensland.
