We thought this place would be nice for Camping. Not so!! Camp sites were small and electrical outlet spotty. There were 7 of us camping with two tents, Therefore I was charged double the price for one site. If I had known that beforehand I would have used two sites. No discount for crappy electricity!! Showers were small and bathrooms...

Second time staying with Black Rock and it was great! The room was very clean, full kitchen and the view was amazing! The only minor issue was we had to wait a half hour to check in. We usually ask for early check in so that was our fault. The breakfast we had also was delicious and not long of...

My guy and I stayed for one night. Unfortunately we didn't bring food with us and the stores were closed. It was a last-minute booking. The owner was helpful with things to do on the island and we did a bit of a tour the next day, stopping at Mum's Restaurant for giant sized muffins and coffee. Another stop was...

Outstanding location and the proximity of the water, which is one of the inter-connected lake-like inlets from Lake Huron. It is just off the main highway in Manitoulin Island. We only stayed a night but wished we had stayed longer. Kitchen equipment was complete and the cabin had a fire-pit for barbecues. However, if you arrive late, please go to...

The resort is in a beautifully quiet location next to the bay. It is only a 20 minute drive from the ferry and not too much further from the swing bridge. The newer chalets in which we stayed are excellently located with a view across the bay. European travellers should be aware that accommodation described as cottage is more akin...

My parents had been to this resort a few years ago and enjoyed it, so we decided to return on my visit to Manitoulin. Very child friendly, which is not for me a plus, but certainly would be if you have kids. The cabins are nice, resemble a normal cottage, had gas stoves, fridge, hot water, showers, and you don't...

Not what we expected! Although a nice setting on the water, 4 adults were planning to stay one night only. Upon arrival we were taken to a cabin by the owner. The cabin was dated, sparsely furnished and had only one towel. When questioned the owner stated she would rent towels to us. Upon further inspection 2 pillows covered with black...

A great place to stay. Very friendly owner, Karen. We had an amazing view at the lake, and who needs a pool, when you can swim in such a clear lake? Don't expect a 5 star resort. The cabin is very basic, but you have a stove, a microwave, kettle and you can prepare your own meals. A lovely deck...

The cottage that we rented had spectacular views of the lake. This was affordable and a great stop during our trip around Georgian Bay. The owner was very friendly, and we really enjoyed our visit. We hope to be back on Manitoulin Island again soon.

This is a very affordable, lake-view property. They have a dock right next to the cottages and the view in the morning is just mind blowing. The cottage we stayed was comfortable, though the furnishings were a bit dated. But the kitchen was well equipped with utensils [no grocery], some cutlery was available and the place was clean overall. Since...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hildur and Sverre Kjevik emigrated from Norway and unexpectedly fell in love with Black Rock Resort. In 1963 they purchased the family-run business because the serenity and beauty of the property reminded them of their Norweigian riverside farm. Their daughter, Karen, now carries on their dream by sharing Black Rock with visitors from all over the world. ... more   less
