Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible value for money. Nestled within an older setting, with newly renovated bathrooms, classic ambiance with the modern comforts. Spotlessly clean, with a range of amenities offered. On-site parking and easy after hours checkin available.

Nowhere to park. King bed sunk in middle - 2 singles pushed together. Place felt like a boarding house. Main area and reception seemed dilapidated. Very strong overpowering chemical smell in bathroom.

Great place to stay. Very convenient to get to downtown Sydney. Ferry ride past the opera house and the harbor bridge is never bad. Great coffee shop by the ferry. The room we had was comfortable and clean. They even have a washer and dryer so you can go home with clean clothes

Stayed in the king ensuite and was great! There was noise from the street but it was barely noticeable. Bed was comfortable and had some great sleep. There was a pedestal fan which did the trick as luckily it wasn’t too warm when we were there. Very close to the Neutral Bay Wharf which made trips to the CBD very easy. Nice hidden beach by the wharf as well as a little cafe. Excellent area for a small holiday!

Lodgings in Neutral Bay with a quick walk to the ferry and across to circular quay. The location is great but the accommodation is tired, and with abit of money spent, they could certainly charge more for the rooms. We had a 3 person room, and whose small, beds were comfy and included a small bar fridge in room. Visited communal kitchen which is on the very bottom floor below the ground, and it’s basic with no extra fridge room and no where at all to store anything frozen. We bought paper plates and cutlery so I’d highly recommend that!! Bathroom was communal for our room and luckily it was close, and I must say these have been recently renovated and are quite lovely, however only 3 showers and 3 toilets to service all the rooms isn’t really enough if the motel was booked out (some rooms have en-suite facilities). Overall, great location but this place could be so much more if they just put some money in and did some basic painting, replacing worn carpets etc.

I think this is the worst accommodation I have ever been in and I would recommend anyone looking into it to save yourselves the awful experience and go stay somewhere else. Garbage is never removed from the rooms unless you beg the staff to do it several times, however the main issue is finding the staff in the first instance as there's never anyone in the front desk, nor on the phones they provide for urgent calls. The absolute worst was finding cockroaches lurking into my suitcase in the middle of the night. At this point I call my relatives to be immediately picked up form the place with no intent on spending another second there. When I reported the issue on the next morning, the staff where impossible to track firstly, and secondly they were unapologetic. I asked for my money back for the remainder of the stay and this was refused. I also asked to speak to the owner or to have a direct contact to call and complain, but this was also refused. They were not even sorry and showed absolutely no care about the situation or to myself. All they cared was too keep my money which they did.

The only thing going for it is price and location in that it’s cheap and there is almost no accommodation in Neutral Bay. A charming looking house that is one up from a back packers hostel with all the warmth and charm of a 1950s flop house. Cheap and clean! But make sure you get a room with an en-suite or one close to the showers and toilet...otherwise, it is a cold hike to the toilet. There is only room for 6 cars so when I put it on my request as we were driving from interstate. When I got there, the receptionist retorted “ it’s first come first serve, you should know that from the email”. I didn’t. The surrounding streets are two hour or residential . We were lucky but afraid to take the car out to meet our appointments so we walked and bussed everywhere. Definitely not the place for romance. It looks lovely from the outside.

Mum and I stayed in a king room for two nights at the weekend. The lodge was built more than a century ago so it has character! I was concerned that we'd cop traffic noise, being in the front room, though I hardly noticed it. The beds were very comfy, linen clean, the room spacious and the ensuite modern. A tip though, bring your own mug as the cups provided in the room are too small for a decent cup of tea/coffee! It is situated just up the road from cafes and restaurants and a stone's throw from Neutral Bay Wharf where you can catch the ferry to Circular Quay. It's approximately 1km from Milson's Point station (an easy walk) and a close drive to Balmoral Beach, the pretty areas of Sydney. The only downside to staying here is the limited parking available, so expect to park on the street during peak hour season. I would stay here again though I think we were fortunate that it was quiet with fewer people around due to Covid!
