Maalifushi by COMO is the first luxury resort in the Maldives to open in the pristine Thaa Atoll in the archipelago’s southwest. With overwater villas and garden suites, Maalifushi is therefore the ultimate away-from-it-all destination for families, couples, surfers and divers. There are some excellent breaks nearby as well as a string of uninhabited private islands, where whale shark sightings are common.

Faultless. It’s paradise. The location is stunning, the layout of the hotel, the rooms, the reef and stunning marine wildlife (sharks, turtles, octopus, triggerfish, needlefish, dolphins), the beaches, the food (the Japanese restaurant is top class), the staff (big thank you to Joy), the service, the arrangements of the transfers in and out via the sea plane. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Deserves all the 5 stars and more. The gym is excellent, the yoga is great. The wine list is good but expensive (what do you expect given the location!). It’s sad to see the reef isn’t as healthy as it could be but this seems to be as much about global warming and bleaching events rather than the impact of the hotel. The hotel and Como have great approach re being as low impact as possible, the resident marine biologist is testament to this.

My fourth stay in COMO Maalifushi, this time with my son and sister, was absolutely delightful! The island is beautiful and its location in the quiet Thaa Atoll a gem, especially now that other areas of the Maldives are becoming more crowded. I have never seen more beautiful sunsets and pink painted skies than in COMO Maalifushi. The whole resort oozes tranquility and superb quality. From the spa, the gym and the dining outlets to the great kids club. My son who normally is not fond of kidsclubs loves Play by Como and the great range of fun activities on offer. A special thanks to Darwin and all others! We highly recommend the castaway lunch picnic on the nearby private island followed by a snorkelling trip just off the coast there. Amazing parts of coloured coral and Nemo fishes playing around and when I started snorkeling I almost crashed into a green turtle :-). The quality and variety of the food, and a dedicated vegetarian menu is now offered, had even improved since our last stay. We just love the home made nut and seed toast with avocado, tomatoe and cucumber!! Truly a remote, understated luxury Paradise. Thank you all and a special thanks to the great GM Benjamin and to Boji, Anne and Cherry. Hope to meet you all again soon!

Dear AmsTravelAddict It was truly our pleasure to welcome you back to COMO Maalifushi for the fourth time - and we are absolutely thrilled you took along your son and sister for this visit. Delighted to find out that you all had such a great stay and that we were able to engage your son in all our Play by COMO activities. Our program for our youngest guests is truly different as we create for them experiences worth re-living without any television or other computer games. We wish for them to reconnect with nature, learn new skills and discover well-being. Same as for our more grown-up guests. Dear AmsTravelAddict, we do hope to welcome you and your family back soon. till then we remain with our best wishes, Benjamin General Manager

Had an exceptional 11 night stay at Como. The hotel and staff are fantastic at every level and I would definitely come back for a second visit.
The hotel is set on a small but beautiful and well kept island. There are only a relatively small number of villas and most have their own private pools so it feels quiet and quite exclusive throughout the resort.
The villas are very spacious and well appointed. I had a water suite with pool and could not have asked for more. The private pool was great.
The food is very good at all the restaurants and the half/full board option is very generous in terms of what is included.
The service is extremely good and Sobah, the resort manager, clearly runs a tight ship. He regularly checked how my stay was going and hosts a weekly cocktail party on the beach which is a lovely event. My villa host, Shiuny, was great and nothing was too much trouble for him (including arranging for items to be flown to the hotel from Male). The staff in the restaurants and bars are also fantastic and very friendly. They know your preferences so quickly and you are on first name terms within a day!
Special thanks go to the scuba diving team and boat crew. I did many dives during my stay and they were all great. You are well taken care of by the crew on the boat during dives and the instructors (Lisa, Lena and Moosh) are all very good and knowledgable. The dives sites are all healthy and interesting plus it’s nice being the only dive boat in the entire atoll!
Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended if you wanted laidback luxury in paradise.

Dear janjychef, Thank you for leaving a heartfelt review regarding your experience with us. We are so pleased to know that our team stood out and made such a wonderful impression as well as positive difference to your experience. With regards to your comment on our house reef, we must admit it was in fact hit during the bleaching but has since been on the road to recovery. Hopefully on your return it will be looking even better. We hope you have reached home safe and sound and look forward to being able to welcome you back to COMO Maalifushi at some point in the future. Sincerely, Sobah

Greeted by warm smiles and sunny personalities every day, one gets a true sense of hospitality on this Como island.
Heartfelt thanks to Chefs Sudarma, Gambir and Ram for their keen attention to cater healthy scrumptious meals for my family of four, always checking on food quality and guest preferences.
Each meal time is also more memorable with affable service from Rini and Ita.
A special mention on F&B director Felipe who has gone beyond his role to make our stay more meaningful with activity recommendations and a deeper understanding on conservation efforts .
Activity bookings are easy with our requests promptly addressed by our friendly butler Aksar.
Diah and her team at Play By Como have also impressed with their care and fun approach for our 10-year-old.
The Water Villa we stay in stands out in cleanliness, spaciousness and design, with a spectacular sea view and sublime sunsets.
A truly unforgettable experience. Thank you, Como team!

If Paradise exists on Earth, than this is one of its better spots. This hotel was the most perfect combination of well being, blending and respect to nature, activities and good food, all coupled with the highest level of service and attention to details. an experience that will last long. We celebrated my wife 50th Birthday and decided to go for an upscale place, which proved to be all we wanted. The hotel is beautifully blending with the Island, we stayed at an overwater Villa that was quite an experience with a live aquarium at our feet. The range of activities is wide, we enjoyed snorkeling turtle expedition and got to see tons of fish, turtles, and even sharks and dolphins. by the way you don't need to go far because the hotel will give you snorkeling equipment for the duration of your stay and the house reef is good enough for many fishes. we also did the Dolphin cruise which was fun. enjoyed great treatment and the Shambala SPA and more.
The food in the hotel is of high class, relative to what you can expect in a remote Island. it was remarkable that even with low occupancy of Covid, the variety of food was not reduced and the quality was kept high
The service in the hotel is in a different league. Sobah, the hotel manager, and all of his team go above and beyond to attend and care personally at any time.
So after all of this what is are there down sides? a few that should be taken into account. the first is the distance from Male, an hour flight in a Sea Plane which is not cheap and also takes time, so this is not a destination for 3 days, if you do for 5 days or more its well worth it. the Sea Plane trip is a unique experience in itself and the cost blends into the overall stay in a comparable manner and even better if comparing to closer resorts of top class. The costs of activities and services is something to be aware of and plan ahead (in a package or similar) these Islands needs to completely self maintain and so the costs of service shouldn't be compared to something "regular". my advise would be to look at activities and other things before arriving and consider what you wish to do.

For our second time in the Maldives, we had decided to visit another island, as we love experiencing new adventures.
Our first holiday in the Maldives was so enjoyable (Vakkaru) that we were frightened not to reach the same degree of pleasure. We shouldn’t have feared, Maalifushi Como resort gave us again that heightened experience that we were seeking for.
The resort is beautiful, but then again, most of the resorts in the Maldives are. Lush vegetation planted on a white sandy island with transparent water is impossible to fault. Our accommodation (water villa) was so big that our jaws dropped when we came in, not only the inside was spacious but also the deck had 2 different seating possibilities.
We were fortunate enough to stay for 10 days in half board. Sometimes staying for that length of time you can get bored with the repetitive menu. On the opposite, the menu was changed every 5 days and they also had different themed nights were you could eat dishes outside the à la carte menu. The 2 restaurants serve star chefs quality international and national dishes that really impressed us. On one occasion, we were served a maldivian dish that was not on the menu as our waiter noticed our keen interest in their native cuisine. The head chef was more than happy to satisfy any of our wishes. When I mentioned that I loved their mango passion fruit purée and thought that it would be a wonderful filling for their pastry, they had prepared some for us the day after!
We also found this keen desire to please on other occasions. When we generally mentioned (at a cocktail organised to celebrate San Valentine day) that we thought some beach beds could be placed under the trees, we found one bed the day after under a tree, just for us! How can you not Love that!
With a fun private butler and a fantastic spa, our holidays couldn’t have been better!

Some pros and cons. The island and resort are beautiful with lovely beaches, excellent snorkeling, and friendly staff. We stayed in an overwater bungalow that was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful outdoor area and plunge pool. We loved the homemade bath products which smelled and felt great. Our one issue with the bungalow, which was a big one, was that the air conditioning didn’t work properly. We had it on the highest/coolest it could go and were still sleeping without covers and sweating during the night. They came several times to “fix” it and they always left saying it was working correctly, but it was never repaired. We were extremely disappointed by this given the amount we were paying.
The food was hit and miss. There were some delicious dishes and some bad ones. We had a $22 chocolate mouse that was essentially two spoonfuls of chocolate jello pudding. The fish dishes were excellent. The restaurants always felt extremely crowded and the food/drink service at beach and pool was very poor.
They offered some fun tours, but we sadly weren’t able to do any of them. We actually chose the resort because they offered a whale shark excursion that looked fun, and we even messaged the resort a month in advance to try to book it, but were told we could only book upon arrival. On arrival we were put on a waiting list and, despite the tour operating nearly every night (sometimes twice), we never got called to do it (despite checking in with them daily). Similarly, we tried to do a turtle snorkeling tour that was also full and were again put on a waiting list that never materialized.
While we definitely enjoyed a relaxing time on the beautiful island, we much preferred the first resort we stayed at, which was less expensive with better service, food, and amenities.

Dear Matt, Thank you for sharing your recent stay experience at COMO Maalifushi with the TripAdvisor community. We are saddened to read that we did not fully meet your expectations and I sincerely apologize for the shortcomings that you have experienced during your stay with us. I am disappointed to read about the issue with the air-conditioning which was not handled and fixed properly. I will address this with the concerned team and assure this would not be repeated since we understand the importance of quality sleep. I appreciate the comments on our culinary offerings and will assure that we are consistent in our gastronomy. Since the stay was during the Easter period, I acknowledge that we had many families in-house and it may feel crowded during certain meal periods. Saying so, the lapses in the service is not acceptable and I will assure the team is fully trained to deliver highest level of services to our guests. The Whale Shark Snorkelling at night is very popular and it is always on high demand during the season from November to April. Certainly, I will review our current booking procedure of activities booking to avoid any dissatisfaction especially when it was requested prior to your arrival to the resort. Thank you for staying with us and we do hope that you will return to COMO Maalifushi in a near future and give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations. Sincerely, Sobah General Manager

Como Maalafushi was everything we could have wished for and then some! The staff, from management down to maintenance were courteous, gracious and attentive without being a nuisance. The attention to detail in the rooms and common areas were better than 5* and the food and variety thereof, considering these islands have to ship everything in, was plentiful, varied and impeccably presented. The fish, THE FISH was awesome! Themed food nights were enjoyable and made a change from the main menus.
We were there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and our butler and housekeeper made the day feel very special. Mr Sobah, the GM, sought us out at dinner to wish us well too - as you age this type of treatment is not so common so it was a welcome surprise to be made to feel as 5* as the surroundings.
White beaches, blue ocean, plenty to do or not depending on what floats your boat, treatment rooms and smiles all day - what's not to like!
Thank you Como and staff, you come highly recommended from us.

Maldives. Island. About 4 hour flight from Dubai in Indian Ocean.
It’s ok but noisy
Since there is already a service charge I tip clearly less. I never had the feeling that a tip was expected. We gave the dive center 10$/bottle for their exceptional service and our butler.
1~5dive $110 with all equipment.
6~10dive $100 with lall equipment.
