The Big Bungalow is a 2.5 bedroom house at the rear of the property with a full kitchen and an open plan living area featuring louver windows to capture the sea breeze and give beautiful views of the rainforest, gardens and out to the Coral Sea. Free wifi is available throughout the property.

Four of us (2A+2C) stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. It was comfortable for us with 2 bedrooms in the beach house. We stocked up on foods on the way up at Mossman and was quite happy with the kitchen. It was good to be enjoy the peaceful surroundings at the house, with toilet-bath looking out to the greens. The night sky was particular beautiful the the blanket of stars. The place is 15min drive to Jungle Safari, Cape Tribulation and the Horse Rides which we enjoyed.

I travelled up to cape trib earlier this week with my partner and spent 2 wonderful days staying at the Thornton beach bungalows. Amazing location - surrounded by forest and across the road from Thornton beach. You go to sleep listening to the waves and rainforest animals. Also really convenient for both cape trib and the daintree. Karen was really helpful and recommended some activities for us before we got there, and then helped arranged a kayaking tour with paddle trek. Would definitely recommend!

We were shocked to see how tiny this cabin was . Could not even get suitcase in and no room to sit inside comfortably. Bed was ordinary and pillows were so flat hard to sleep on. No room to eat but on deck outside. We ended up sitting across road at cafe to stretch out . No clothes line to hang washing smalls and no cooking provisions . Had to use cafe for dinner and ate camp food for other meals . I have lived in the bush in NT and this was so small with few facilities to make life basic comfort . would not recommend. Sorry as was so looking forward to this trip. View was saving grace .

We rent the beachhouse for our little family. Just great. Spacious house, even with a bathroom with wildlife-feeling. Wonderful garden surrounded by pristine rainforest. Get visited by Ulysses butterflies and other animals. Great place for exploring the Daintree discovery centre (excellent), the beautiful beaches around (Cow Bay - Cape Tribulation) or the 4WD Bloomfield Track. The owners of Thornton Beach Bungalows are extremely helpful with tips and bookings.

We enjoyed a lot to stay two nights at Thornton Beach Bungalows despite rain. Bungalows are in front of the beach and the place is fantastic and wild sorrounded by the rain forest. There is a cafe at the beach entrance so you can also have breakfast. The room and the bathroom are tidy and well organized. We definitely recommend to stay here if you want to explore Daintree region !

My husband and I and our daughter stayed at Thornton beach house for six nights and it was just beautiful. A perfect position central to all the activities the Daintree has to offer. Karen and Drew were most welcoming and helpful with suggestions of things to do and bookings. The house was a nice open plan living space, an easy space to relax and feel at home, well equipped for self catering. If you can't live without live t.v. and phone service then it may not be the ideal place for you, but to us it was a blissful retreat. A great range of dvd movies were supplied and enjoyed as well as a good range of reading material.. Proximity to Thornton beach meant it was so easy to enjoy long beach walks and the cafe across the road where you could sit with a coffee or glass of wine…

We spent three nights in the Beach house with my young children. The house was lovely and spacious. It was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The house was situated amongst a beautiful garden and partly surrounded by forest. My children loved playing in the garden and watching the beautiful blue Ulysses butterflies flying around it. The side of the house was all louver windows which made it cool and breezy as well as making us feel if we were part of the surroundings. It was across from a sublime beach. The owners, Karen and Drew, were extremely helpful and helped book tours and gave us great advice. it was a real treat staying here and I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here, the location is very good, on the main road opposite a lovely beach. There is a cafe across the road where you can buy all your meals, but it closes at around 5/6pm. The bungalow was very clean and tidy with an en suite bathroom. Our only issue was the bungalow was a bit too small. There is not much room for luggage. In the room there is a small jug for tea and coffee, plates, dishes, utensils, and a chilly bin which you need to supply ice for. I think that the larger house on site would be more comfortable if staying longer than 1 night.

These bungalows are really suited for an over night stay only as they are separate from the house. My partner and I booked for 2 nights with the understanding that there would be some sort of fridge and cooking facility as it was not stated other wise in such a remote location, this was a bad assumption. Some of the reviews stated that there is a fully equipped kitchen, this is for the house and it is not possible to tell other wise. Google maps shows the site located beach side of the road, this is also incorrect and it is situated on the other side of the only road in and out of the Danitree and we where woken on many occasions with trucks passing early in the morning and late at night. This was not value for money as it was a bed and bathroom on the side of a busy road, the…

We stayed 3 nights in the large house which is situated behind the two petite bungalows. We loved this place, and it was the perfect size for our family. The house is modern, clean and spacious, using solar power and rain water to ensure minimal impact to the surrounding pristine rainforest. The location in the heart of the Daintree is ideal, with a stunning beach just across the road (just out of sight behind some trees) and the forest a few metres behind. The house has two good-sized bedrooms and a couple of day beds, and can easily sleep 6 or more people. The louvres throughout the building ensure that the outside breeze and sounds of nature fill the house - although this did mean that during the winter it did get a little cold at night. This was especially true of the…
