Thornton Beach Bungalows in the heart of the Daintree are just across the road from stunning Thornton Beach, one of the best beaches on the Daintree Coast. We are nestled between The Daintree World Heritage National Park and the Great Barrier Reef. Our 2 Queen ensuite Bungalows are the ideal accommodation for a relaxing holiday for 2 with their own private bbq area and views of the Coral Sea and surrounding rainforest. The Big Bungalow is a 2.5 bedroom house at the rear of the property with a full kitchen and an open plan living area featuring louver windows to capture the sea breeze and give beautiful views of the rainforest, gardens and out to the Coral Sea. Free wifi is available throughout the property.

3 of us booked this as part of a quick trip to cape tribulation from cairns. We had both of the small bungalows at the front. Some of the reviews on here seem so crazy to me. I’m not sure what these people are expecting in the middle of the rainforest! The cabins are perfect for a short stay. They have everything you can need - a fridge, with a very small freezer in the top, plates and cups and cutlery. There are bbq’s outside which are available to use. We stopped at port Douglas on the way up and grabbed burgers amongst other food. The nearest shop is a good 10 minute drive away, and the nearest evening restaurant around 15 minutes. The cafe across the road that is on Thornton beach is lovely, however does close at 3pm every day (aside from Saturdays, where I was told they stay open for dinner). Unfortunately the weather was terrible on our trip, but we made the most of it the best way we could. We sat outside and drank and ate and enjoyed just being in the tranquility of the rainforest. The beach is literally across the road. Dean and Jodie were excellent hosts. This place is exactly as described. If you are looking for 5 star luxury you are in the wrong place altogether. Thank you, we will be back!…

Note the Outside sink to do dishes - can only cook on a bbq No telstra. Only optus. 600 mb per device. In this day and age it's not much. If problem with anything to do with the place as it's all off grid, can only email owners. Have to walk over road for reception. Outdoor chairs and umbrellas a nice touch Bungalow situated On main road so plenty of traffic noise.

A very comfortable stay. No TV and no Aircon…just the way we like it. We actually made conversation so any Gen X ‘s may struggle with this place. No need for Aircon as the louvers and fan were quite adequate. Thanks for being so open and friendly Dean. Across the road are the best views and Fish n Chips. Highly Recommend this place

The cabins are clean and contain all the creature comforts you need for a relaxing stay in the Daintree. We picked up some dinner ingredients from Mason's and made use of the bbq facilities. The next morning we made a cuppa and walked across the road to watch the sunrise over Thornton Beach

Lovely venue and nice clean units. They were clean and well set out. Ideal location opposite Thornton beach. Friendly staff. Off grid power throughout the area but no generator noise. Thanks for making us welcome.

This place is relatively cheap and is a great way to spend sometime in the daintree which is a must. It's probably easier to dot point things to know/ be aware of which may make anyone who reads this stay a little better. - There is no reception (Vodafone and telstra). You can get telstra reception on the beach. There is WiFi but it only worked for about 10 minutes of our stay. I recommend reading about the things you're wanting to do in the area and saving them so you can read it off-line. We were very restricted on finding things to do nereby because we had no internet access. - there is a BBQ for each of the two small cabins. It's nice and has all you need to cook. Get your food supplies at either port douglas or mossman before heading over. There is even mozzie coils supplied which was great. There was a small fridge to put your food in. There is also a small kettle. - there is a cafe across the road but their opening hours are limited and there is very little on their menu. Also be prepared for sandflies in the Cafe- it was horrible and there was no spray or candles to deter them. - the cabins are very small. You're unable to open a suitcase on the floor. You either need to put it on the bed, or open it on the verandah. There is also no TV (which is fine for us but maybe not others) and no air-conditioning. There was also limited hot water, only managed a few minutes and so my shower was cold. It is near the road so trucks were loud (but there were only a few). - the info packs are outdated in today's covid climate. This can be avoided if you preplan what you want to do in the area. - there is signs about 500 or 300 meters when you're approaching the cabins, so it was easy to find. We enjoyed our short stay, it was a great location with the beach across the road - making for an easy walk to watch the sunrise.…

The hosts were lovely and went out of their way every way to be helpful. The rooms are lovely and clean and right across from the beach. They let us leave our boat there while we went up to Cooktown and came back the next day. We were supposed to check in the afternoon but they made an exception and clean the room quickly and early so we could have it in the morning after Bed stay at another place the day before which was very kind of them to go out of their way. I hurt my foot whilst on holidays which had nothing to do with them but they went out of their way to help. Thank you for a lovely stay would recommend to everyone. Comfy beds too thank you.

This was the ideal place to stay for my Mum's 80th birthday trip to the Daintree Rainforest. The accommodation is located across the road from the beach and we could park right out the front of our bungalow, which meant that Mum didn't have too much walking to do. Everything else was within an easy driving distance and both Dean and Jodie gave us some great suggestions for accessible places to visit. We self catered for the most part, using the little BBQ area, and we enjoyed sitting on our deck in the evening, listening to the insects and the sea, after our big days out exploring the area.

Stayed 3 nights here recently. Small tidy spotlessly clean bungalows. Across tge road from t h ed beach and a restaurant. Great bbq area for each bungalow...you can eat outside every night, completely sheltered. Your hosts Jodie and Dean are a fantastic couple, great local knowledge and advice. Highly recommend. Not luxurious, but very comfortable and fun.
