It was really good to be back. My third visit since 2005 and I enjoyed it as much as before. The simple but clean rooms, the relaxed atmosphere, the location, the hammocks, the beach, the yummie food, the interaction with the other guests and last but not least the hospitality of this great family. They really know how to make...

I had a wonderful experience at Monkey Island Hostel. Located in a quieter part of the island on a really nice, calm part of the lake, this hostel is a great place for a peaceful getaway. Our room was clean and beds very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with booking guides, taxis and suggesting activities to do...

Located in Merida (1 hour cab ride from moyogaipa) monkey island is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway on ometepe. Our room was clean and the beds comfortable and the place is just a 1 min walk from a lovely secluded beach. You can hear and see howler monkeys from the main Pavillion. Angel was absolutely lovely and so...

Kind staff, pretty good food, awesome service and wonderful location. The lake is only a five minute walk away. Many activities to do such as hike, swim, and ride horses. The Kayak is free if you are staying there and eating there which is awesome. Prices range from 15-25 $ a night. Quaint rooms with private bath or a shared...

I'm very glad we chose that place to stay in Ometepe island, you can walk on the beach and you can climb the volcano Maderas which is minimum 7hours (4 hours to climb up and then 3 to go back). You have to ask for breaks if you need so, otherwise the guide won't stop by himself. They never get...

A friend and I came via Costa Rica for our 72 hour Visa run. Booked on the fly with Jacinto, who I would later learn is the most hilarious and friendly dude on the island. Jacinto and family (and a couple friends from the island) welcomed us with open arms and flashlights when we arrived around 10 at night. They...

We stayed for four days and we didn't not regret it!!! It's very convivial and the persons that owns the place are very peaceful and welcoming. The food is good, and you can do many things such as walk to see the Maderas volcan. It's 7 hours, it can seem difficult, but a lot of people did before and it's...

We visited this hostel twice and would definitely go back. If you want to get off the gringo trail, enjoy the beauty of the lake and hang out with locals, this place is ideal. The rooms are basic, but clean. The food is freshly prepared and good value and there is a great beach just yards away. Yes, it is...
