Such an interesting place. Its history is fascinating and the owners are knowledgeable and committed. If you are interested in birds, it's a peaceful unspoiled place. The architecture of the old village is being carefully restored. Genuine real whole food. You step back into the past in this quiet place.

A wonderful, peaceful place to stay. We enjoyed the sunset behind the mountains. Excellent breakfast and dinner. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Our room in the "post office" was badly soundproofed, but that was not really a problem.

We went to a Wedding in George and stayed at the guest house for 3 nights, we had such a lovely time, very friendly owners, neat, clean and had alot of fun, they have a well kept swimming pool and there is also a tearoom. Will definitely revisit.

Quiet setting, ideal for a large family, and friendly hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the train ride up and down the Montagu pass. We could swim, do some mountain biking, walking and just relax. The breakfast was very good.

Loved the place in the mountains. Sadly it is very dry in the area and various veld fires in the area spoiled our stay. If you want a good rest in the fresh mountain air near the buss and vibe of Oudtshoorn, George and Wilderness, this is the place to stay. No TV, just great resting place. Loved the place....

Fair accommodation (comfortable) but terrible service and hospitality from owners/hostess (Estelle). Breakfasts = eat what you're given (and food not very appetizing); while any request by visitors is made to sound like an unbearable hassle. Several times we were told things were being done a certain way "because it's easier for us (the owners/staff)"! Arguably the worst service from any...

Here at Over the Mountain Guest Farm we take great pride and care in the service we offer our guests. The food we serve is mostly homemade and prepared in our kitchen. Our standard breakfast normally consists of; two flavours of 100% fruit juice, at least three types of fresh fruit, double cream plain and a selection of fruit yogurts,...

The location is really nice, with a great view of the surrounding mountains. The area is also very quiet, which is nice if you need some rest. The food is very good as well. You pay R125 pp for dinner, but we were not told that these exclude drinks on offer (which are very expensive). We were only told about...

We regret that our guests were not completely satisfied. It is most unfortunate, because we went out of our way to accommodate a family of 4 in one of our triple rooms, normally only for 3 people.

Clean tidy rooms. Supper and breakfast was great! Swimming pool looks like fun for warmer days! Nights are super quiet, good time to read and enjoy a peaceful nights sleep! No TV in rooms, just in lounge! Take own toiletries!

We find that many of our guests prefer not to have a TV in the rooms.

Had coffee and and pancakes, great pancakes. The coulis with the ice cream was very good too. But the most amazing thing about having coffee and pancakes at Over the Mountain is the view. It was a great stop to start the fantastic Montague mountain pass.

My friend and I booked in on the Saturday in preparation for the Karoo to Coast. The rooms were lovely furnished and the views stunning. We enjoyed a braai organised by the patrons for all their guests the evening and shared plenty a tale about mountain biking escapes. We had a great evening with all. We also enjoyed a bobotie...

“The rooms depends on what you need. Tell the owner what you re requirements are and they could give u a description of availalibility. Some self catering which I prefer others just rooms with a veranda.”
