The Mövenpick Hotel Cairo - Media City is often celebrated for its tranquil ambiance, accented by soothing music and sophisticated decor. While the hotel's location earns accolades for its convenience to the Giza pyramids, opinions on value diverge, with some guests feeling services are overpriced despite commendable dining experiences. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with sparkling rooms and pristine pools.
Room experiences vary, as comfort and space are sometimes offset by maintenance issues. The staff's friendliness and efficiency generally impress, although occasional lapses occur. Amenities like the diverse culinary options and well-kept pools are highlights, though guests have noted some inconsistencies.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed in Mövenpick for a few days during December. The reason I chose the hotel was due to the swimming pools for my children but unfortunately we didn’t use them as it isn’t that hot during December in Cairo.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly, my nephew wasn’t well and during breakfast he was vomiting. The staff noticed this and made him a hot drink with lemon and honey and looked after him.
The reception staff are also very kind. They gave us 2x 2 connecting rooms. Rooms 16102-16103 and 16104-16105 were big, clean and quite near the reception and play area for the children. The hotel is quite big and it was nice to see staff cleaning it and cutting the grass every morning and it’s nice just to have a wonder around the hotel area.
There is a huge shopping mall across the hotel. It’s quite tricky to cross the road but all you have to do is literally start walking on the road and the cars do stop to give you way. We did indoor skiing in the mall which I highly recommend and also there is a big food court there so you can eat there during the evenings.
The staff also helped us book excursions. We did use the hotel drivers on the first day but it is much cheaper to book taxi from outside. We knew Someone living in Egypt and he gave us a driver who charged us 75 Egyptian pounds per hour (very cheap). Also i have been told by locals that Uber is a cheap way to travel too but you will need internet.
My only suggestion to the hotel would be to change the breakfast as we ate the same food everyday so a slight change would have been appreciated.
Overall I did enjoy my stay and would definitely stay at the hotel again.

I stayed there for one day , the location is very good and the layout for the hotel is perfect, the pools looks fantastic but I didn’t try because the weather was cold.
The room furniture was very old and not reflecting the Hotel image , I got surprised when I enter the room , the room door was really old and even not close properly but it was 2 am when I reached there so I did not have a time to complain and wait for fixing.
The next day I went for the restaurant to have the lunch , so I ordered scallop veal which was disaster, the restaurant Manager to be honest try his best to replace with another but I refused because it was too late for that (thanks for him any way)
Finally the price I paid for this hotel was too much compare to my experience there and further more I didn’t expect a hotel like Movenpick to be like that.

We were in a group tour. Majorities of the tour members were in their 50s to late 70s. We were not informed of the lift faulty when we were given keys to our rooms.
Room has a great pool view. Wi-fi connection was super weak!
Sound proofing was so bad. We could hear noises from TV, coughing and talking from next door.
I ordered a beer during our buffet dinner. It was listed on the menu as EP70 but got ripped off with EP100 without any receipt.
Casino does not operate 24 hours! We wanted to visit the casino after dinner and was told that it would be opened only at 10pm.

As you enter the Hotel, it looks impressive, the grand entry, the marble, the plush velvet lounges near reception. Even venture out the rear of reception and the network of pools and gardens look like an oasis in the desert, but beware fellow traveller, that is where the magic (or illusion) ends.
We arrived around dinner time, after a lengthy wait at reception, we were allocated our room over the other side of the resort, around 10 mins walk or 3 min cart ride.
We entered our room and first thing we noticed is dirt on the floor, mould in the bathroom, curtains that didn’t fit and clear packing tape trying to seal the gaps in between the windows and the frames. The room was also configured as 2 x single beds.
I rang reception who said they could not help us ( or rather didn’t want to help us). They instead sent a guy up to our room who pushed the 2 single beds together and said there! Anything else?
Buy this time my blood was almost boiling so I marched down to reception and the guy at the desk said ‘who said you could cone fown here?’ Really! This guy was just straight out rude and told me to go away as there were no other rooms.
On the other side of the foyer was the concierge and seated next to him was a lady who looked like a manager, she introduced herself as guest relations and asked if she could assist me in someway.
I explained the condition of the room and bed configuration and when I showed her I was a gold Accor member she suddenly put everything right, a clean room, king bed, no mould in the bathroom etc.
The new room was acceptable but we also realize that what Egypt classes as 5 stars is only 3 stars elsewhere.
To her credit the guest relations lady went out if her way in the days ahead to apologize for the rudeness of reception staff.
The hotel is dated in the Villas and in serious need of renovations. Much of this hotel seems to have been built of the cheap or what here in Oz we call ‘Gerry-Built’.
The other thing is the suburb ‘6th of October’ is so far from old Cairo and the Pyramids as well.

My experience at the Movinpick was the worst I've ever had in a hotel.
First of all, arriving at 2AM we were not allowed any access to facilities other than the toilet- despite being told prior that we could enter our friends room that was already staying in the hotel to shower until our room was early. In order to gain access to his room, the reception staff asked for $50 and then gave us access to his room (without checking with him, we could have been anybody!) The next day, our friend made a complaint and received the $50 back.
Then we were shown to our rooms, where my door would not open properly. This then required an engineer to come to my room twice before it was sorted.
I thought the worst was behind me with the hotel. How I was wrong...
The room was ok, not the cleanest I've ever been in, however the amount of Mosquitos in the room was disgusting [please see photos]. I must have slept for 20 mins the whole night due to the constant buzzing sound over my head. The next morning house keeping came with an electric fly swatter...There was hundreds!!!!
After complaining to the reception, I was upgraded to a much nicer room, but I feel the experience had to be shared!

The venue was beautiful and very spacious.
The staff were the best thing about the whole experience, without them, the whole event wouldn’t have gone with the same smooth flow. Their expertise in handling the training needs was incredible, and they are very flexible and cooperative. Especially Mr. Shehab and Miss. Noha Omar, they proved to be the perfect hosts and they went above and beyond to make us comfortable, and Chef Korayem was very accommodating and his dishes were delicious!
Overall, the training was a great success because of the staff’s coordination and time management skills,
Thank you for the best event experience.

Stayed here once again on a business trip. I had already stayed here earlier in the year.
This visit was longer and gave me a better impression of how run down this hotel is.
The only redeeming factor is the food was slightly better this time but breakfast was still hot and miss.
The room I stayed in was falling to bits. Doors hanging from cupboards, sockets hanging out of the wall. Toilet seat broken. The room was never cleaned properly during my stay.
The laundry will ruin anything you send to them. If you value an item of clothing do not use the laundry. I had to throw away 4 work t shirts as they had been shrunk beyond use.
The staff do not speak great English. I get that however when you ask fir something they just agree with you making things very confusing and making you believe they are going to action a request...there is a 50/50 chance your request will be met.
There were weddings at least three nights a week. These take precedence over other guests and you cannot hold a conversation in the restaurant areas as the music is so loud. These often go on into the early hours, not good if you have an early start.
This hotel needs a real shake up and probably a change of management to get it back to where it should be. It’s set in nice grounds with nice gardens.
I will certainly be looking elsewhere for my next visit.

It's a worthy value for money for those who travelled a lot and knows about hotels prices. May be you had a bad individual experience due to some temporary circumstances and this happens everywhere.
They do have a laundry service but am no aware of the charges.
