Somewhere Else and the owner Jerome and his team really exceeded my expectations. He created a really wonderful space and couple of creative and well appointed villas on Camiguin Island. I think it is by far the best place to stay on the island and I did have the opportunity to stay next door which many consider to be the best hotel on Camiguin. Currently Somewhere Else is closed due to renovation and expansion but I wanted to submit a review based on an earlier stay in the year. Pickup from the airport and check in went smooth. We booked both villas which were both wonderful and unique. Jerome showed us around the property, had us set up with motorbikes, and away we went to explore. Hands down Somewhere Else has the best breakfast on the island and maybe out of any hotel or inn i have stayed at in the Philippines. Camiguin is a cool island. It's lush and hilly and most of the beaches on the island are volcanic sand but if you are looking for white beaches you can take a short boat to White Island or Mantigue Island. Food choices are limited compared to bigger islands but there are some decent places to eat. So overall great stay and I'll definitely be back when the renovations are complete here.

Hotel Review

We stayed here in March 2018 for seven days. Right at first glance, after arrival, we were positively surprised by the location and the interior design of our villa and fell in love with it over the next seven days. Not only was it beautiful and playfully design but also very practical. First thing in the mornings, we could take a swim in ocean right in front our villa, followed by a wonderful breakfast, served in the garden or inside our villa, in which ever way we desired. Jerome had wonderful ideas and suggestions of what we could do for each of our seven days. Every spot we visited was better than the other. Camiguin, even though, definitely not overrun by tourists, felt somewhat like a natural Disneyland, with fantastic attractions that we could enjoy. The scooters of the hotel were always waiting for us, day or night, ready to go, filled up with gas, drinking water and towels. Driving on Camiguin roads was really easy, even driving through the mountain passes. Every evening, we could choose from a variety of nearby restaurants which were of a quality that really positively surprised us. The restaurants on Camiguin, weather it’s Italian, Spanish, Asian food etc., had the same quality and ambiance that one is used to from European and American cities. Often the owners are Europeans, Americans, Australians, often mixed couples. Most of the restaurants even deliver, if you wish to stay in your villa for the evening. The villa also provides a special wine refrigerator with selected bottles. All things considered, we did not run across one hotel during our stay on Camiguin where we would have rather stayed than with Jerome and his wonderful colleagues. Even after we had already left and got into a troublesome situation caused by a cancelation of our flight, they helped us in a way that was far beyond what one could expect and thus, enabled us to continue our travels and reach Okinawa on time. Thanks to Jerome and our safe and well versed driver of SomewhereElse Boutique Resort, who, literally, made the impossible possible. Hope to see you again soon.

Somewhere Else is hands down the best place we've stayed in after a two week trip to the Philippines. The pictures online don't do this place justice. It's everything I could wish for in a resort.

Andrew was our tour guide for the day and a half we were in Camiguin. He and the staff were lovely and really made our experience on the island one to remember. Customer service doesn't get better than what you get at Somewhere Else :)

I will just say that SomeWhere Else Boutique Resort totallly exceeded our expectations in every regard! The quiet tranquility of the location combined with the very comfortable and modern facilities, and the caring attention of the owner and staff made our stay on Camiguin Island one of our most memorable ones!
Any requests from the staff are quickly and enthusiasticlly responed to, making us feel pampered and wanting for nothing during our stay. Even things we didn't think to ask, they tended to beforehand, for example, if we spent the day out and removed the "power key" used for energy conservation, the staff would be sure to replace it around 4-5pm so that we returned to a clean and comfortably cool room again. Another notable perk is that morning breakfasts were on our schedule, so we could rise early or late, and never be late for breakfast on the beach! And speaking of the beach access, it is not a private beach, but it felt like it was our own private beach. If you're curious what to do on Camiguin Island, the owner will go out of his way to share his experience to ensure you get directions and the best recommendations where to go and where to eat! We eagerly followed his dining suggestions after the first one led us to a superb dinner location! He even offered to chauffuer us there and back if we didn't want to ride the scooter or trike taxi!
This resort easily deserves the highest rating in all the categories listed! We will definitely be going back!

Arrived at the airport on a drizzling Saturday morning but mood was immediately shifted with the owner's warm welcome upon arrival to the villa. The entire place is amazing, reminds me so much of my grandma's house. A very nice and cozy villa, well ventilated, comfortabe bed, very clean. I like how simple and humble everything was and still feeling "elegant" (for me atleast) plus good choices of wine on the fridge!! 👍🏻

We had breakfast at the beachfront, food was really good. Jerome joined us to give recommendations of places to go and eat. I admire how knowledgeable he is about the island that he actually drew a map for us and making sure that the safety of the guests is the top priority. Btw, the dogs are very playful and behaved, I think they sensed that I was scared they didn't even come to me. HAHAH!

Aaaaand, his handwritten letter was heartwarming. Thanks Jerome, Kuya Andrew and Ates for making our stay extra wonderful 😘 Daghang salamat po!!
