Detailed Reviews
We booked a premium room but somehow got the 4th floor despite the website stating premium is floor 5 and above.
The view is fantastic and great location.
The unit was aged with some recent renovations to kitchen and dining but the rest is dated and in severe need of some TLC and basic maintenance.
The room was over priced for quality but most disappointing is the cleanliness. Continually finding stuff from previous occupants. But most disappointing of all was barely being able to see out of the windows of the view. For the price per night we paid you would expect someone to at least give the windows a once over. Although I had mobile data the kids and wife continually complained about the terrible wireless that barely worked which we reported but was not fixed.
The putt putt, tennis and pool was good but next time we’ll forgo the view for a better quality unit in the same area.

Mandolin is perfectly situated in the Centre of Alexander Headlands, directly opposite the surf club with a variety of food outlets and great cafes at your doorstep.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was roomy, clean and comfortable A great balcony providing fantastic views overlooking the beach and stretching down the coast to Maroochdoore.
Service was friendly and professional.
A great getaway

We stayed here for 9 nights in April to attend a surf carnival. We chose the Mandolin because it had a sauna, but it offered so much more, mini golf put put, tennis court, parking, heated pool and a games room. We were on the tenth floor and facing north, so the view was AMAZING!! We arrived on a Saturday and the sauna wasn’t working properly but they were onto it straight away and a technician arrived on Monday. The staff working around the property are top notch, we were so impressed with their professional and friendly manner. We stayed in apartment 44, the size was great (two bed apartment but second room was locked as we only needed a one bedder), it had a full laundry and the kitchen had everything. While the dated furniture didn’t bother us, the main bed definitely did, for $255p/n it was up there with the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on. Please get a new bed in apartment 44, my mattress at home was $1500 and is a dream, so you don’t need to spend big bucks to get a decent mattress. The resin artworks in the apartment are very nice. I figure the apartments are owned by different parties, so nothing to do with the resort or staff. I’d definitely stay here again, the location is great and the sauna was EXCELLENT! Would’ve given 5 stars if the bed wasn’t so bad.

Room 35,
I booked a family holiday to give us a break during the school holidays, booked a "Superior Room" which was meant to be renovated & well... a Superior apartment, sadly I was shocked when we walked into the room, it was so old & run down the kitchen looked like it was from the 70's or 80's, furniture was old & couches were peeling, kitchen window was locked so we couldnt even open it for fresh air, there were spiders & cobwebs in corners of the walls, ants were a massive problem they were everywhere on the dining table, kitchen bench & bathroom sinks, All ceiling fans were rusted & hanging a little from the wall, the main bedroom Fan was so loud we couldnt even have it on & the room was very hot at night so we needed it. There was no pantry space for food & we had no hot water nearly every night, so couldnt enjoy a hot shower after a long day out.
I know these apartments are individually owned so this will in no way stop us from returning as we have stayed in other beautiful apartments at mandolin previously & staff are always amazing, we will just be sure not to be put in this apartment again. Managment was amazing with our hot water issue came up strait away to tell us why we didnt have much, but in a family apartment there needs to be more then 10mins worth of hot water in a 24hr period. It took a couple of mins for it to even warm up. Something the owner of this particular apartment should look into as well as a good renovation & better cleaners, as cutlery was not very clean, plates & dishes had bits of food on them, even the railing on the balcony & chunks of food stuck to it that i can only assume came from the people before us, but none the less, the cleaners need to do a better job. The price for this room alone is not worth what the room is like & offers.
The View from this apartment is absolutely beautiful in the day & night.

Made a booking for the weekend for partners big 50th
Booking was easy, ocean view one bed apartment, not a bad price.
Check in was easy, lovely gentleman at reception explained everything
Tina the night manager was friendly
We had the best view from the apartment of Alex beach, was stunning sunsets and beach life
As for the apartment and halls, they need a paint job,new carpet, outside our door was a big bleach mark
The place is looking old ,inside the rooms are a modern kitchen,we cleaned up because the cups in the cupboard were coffee stained, walls had black marks on them, one shower ceiling was peeling and the shower dripped, ice tray was empty in the freezer. The curtains were old ,hokey and mouldy. Just little things that would make the apartment a bit more appealing
Everything was provided though, cleaning stuff, brooms, iron, pillows, books, games etc
The rubbish Shute was so small can only put a couple of bits down it at a time so you had to take 5 min just to put your rubbish out
A nice pool, mini golf, bbq areas are provided and looked clean.
You can book a car space also as we did.
I’d stay again because of the view
Plenty of food places nearby.
Building Foyer is lovely and clean and bright $560 for 2 nights

These apartments are directly across the road from the surf club and beach. The complex is maintained well and service is welcoming and friendly. You have a kids pool, larger pool, sauna, BBQ area, games room, tennis court and 9 hole mini golf to keep everyone happy. The 2 bedroom apartment was comfortable and quite spacious plus you have a gorgeous view of the water. Roomy secure parking. Walking distance to lots of eating places and tenpin bowling is just around the corner too. Would definitely return!

I was given a quote by Colin (staff member at the hotel) and then when he took my credit card details and sent me through confirmation he charged me $910 dollars above quoted price. When I phoned to question it he said he didn’t recall giving me that amount even though it was confirmed both the nightly tariff and full stay tariff over the phone. I am disgusted and as someone in the industry I will not be recommending anyone nor will I risk booking anyone into this hotel. Honesty and reliability is a huge thing in any business but with the current climate it is huge and a factor I won’t compromise on.

Really enjoyed our break at the Mandolin Resort. Our apartment was spacious with an unbeatable view of the ocean and the streetscape below. Close to a wide variety of restaurants and cafes and activities. It was also great to have a wonderful heated pool and full size tennis court to play on too! (You’ve also got to try the calamari strips at the Mandolin Fish & Chip shop!!! And have dinner at Juan Fifty while you’re there!)
Great value for money for a quick summer getaway on the Sunshine Coast!

Stayed a few nights here in October 2021. The room was comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. We had a lovely ocean view with balcony. The staff were so nice and helpful! Tina was excellent with information about our accommodation as well as local knowledge on great places to eat. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

The staff were excellent. Pearl on the phone, Ruby on the reception and property manager Cat were all first class.
We stayed two nights on the 10th floor facing south and we loved it so much we stayed another five nights on the 9th floor facing north. Both apartments were renovated to different degrees but both immaculately clean and fresh. The views spectacular!
Both apartments were 2 bedroom/2 bathrooms. Both had a full kitchen with all the cutlery, crockery and utensils you might need. Beds were all comfortable.
The outdoor facilities at this resort are excellent. A large heated pool and a heated children’s pool too. Large extensive BBQ area with plenty of seating under cover. A full sized tennis court and a mini golf course on site were well utilised during our stay.
There is a great Vietnamese restaurant at the front of the property (on the street) and we ate there several times. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent. We also at at the Alex Surf Club opposite the Mandolin with easy access by pedestrian crossing with traffic lights. At the back of the surf club there is a cafe which is perfect for an early morning coffee and light breakfast.
Coles Mooloolaba is a five minute drive away. Also nearby is Sealife and The Ginger Factory which we all enjoyed. Australia Zoo is also an easy drive.
We have booked to return in March 2025, can’t wait, we had a great visit October 2024.
