Detailed Reviews
Highly recommend this accommodation. We stayed in both a 3 bedroom beachside and 3 bedroom rooftop apartment during our stay and both were big, beautiful and clean with amazing views if the beach and coast. It was a quick 5 minute drive to Maroochydore or Mooloolaba or a 15 minute beachside walk.
The owners shuffled things around and bent over backwards to fit us in when our original accommodation was canceled without us knowing! We can honestly say we feel like this was a far better option anyway in the end and we’ll definitely be back when we visit the Sunshine Coast next time!

First time staying at Grand Palais Resort and we were not disappointed. We booked a 1 bedroom unit but were put into a 2 bedroom which was beautifully fitted out with a modern decor. The resort was across the street from the beach and our unit had ocean views.
The Managers, Janelle & Steve were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.
The resort was an easy walk to Mooloolaba and the Alex Surf Club.
We had a wonderful weekend away and would highly recommend the Grand Palais.

Our room at the Palais was very tidy, well furnished with stylish items, and had a great aspect overlooking the ocean.
The staff were all very friendly and the complex was beautifully maintained.
Wouldnt stay anywhere else on the coast!

You may see I have favorably reviewed this awesome place many times. However on trying to confirm our tenth visit this coming March, having booked and paid over 50% deposit in March 2019 we have been informed we have no booking. Despite being told one day that the unit was “Double Booked” two days later it was mysteriously “out of the pool”. Sure we realize the new management have more than doubled the tariffs (they are now competing against newer better places), but to just dump an 8 year, long standing booking with the sentence “confirmation emails does not guarantee a booking!” is just crazy.
We have had 8 friends stay here on our recommendation in that time, but we just cannot risk friends having their holidays messed up like ours has been this year.

Response from Janelle Dunn , Owner at Grand Palais Beachside Resort
Responded 25 Apr 2020
As you are aware, the unit you booked was not available due to a maintenance issue (your 2019 booking was also moved to another room by the previous management due to this). We noted that the previous managers booked you into that apartment - even though works had not even commenced. We did not dump an 8-year booking without calling every other guest with a booking to see if an alternative booking could be opened for you. This scenario can, and does, happen due to unforeseen maintenance being required or due to unit owners removing their property from the available letting pool (An owner can remove a unit from a holiday listing by giving only 30 days’ notice). We contacted you to advise that the unit would not be ready for your booking giving you more than 60 days’ notice and offered to try to find another property. This apartment is still not available (more than a month past your booking date) due to the resultant refurb being of a difficult nature and taking much longer than the owner anticipated. We will never know why the previous managers booked you into a room that was not available and put us all in this position.

Would never stay here again - no management at all for the noise in the pool which goes almost ALL day - kids screaming; marco polo for 3 hours at a time - shouting their little lungs out bless them. It was truly awful for our 4 day stay. We all hated it and both parties (in separate units) agreed we would NEVER stay here again.

+1
How can anyone write up 4.5 stars for this dump?
Not clean, furniture from early attic.
If we cooked in the advertised kitchen ( from the 90's and bad for that,) there would be a $950 fine if the fire alarm was set off, aptly placed.
The ocean view from the balcony was a main road bus stop.
We had to choose between the noise from the main road or the legionnaires disease causing airconditioner. (by it's age) to watch TV.
How dare they charge upmarket prices, for a place that died in the 90's!
no stars!

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Grand palais .
Our check in was very easy the staff at the front desk where very helpful our two bedroom apartment was vert clean with a good view of the beach we had a swim in the pool and found it clean and well cared for.
The Grand Palais is only a few minutes walk to the Alexandra surf club and only a 15 to 20 minute very pleasant walk to Mooloolaba cafes.
We will definitely stay again

The most disappointing accommodation I have been unfortunate to be in for many years.
I paid lots for an ocean view as we were celebrating a family birthday. I am asthmatic and so is my sister who was joining us.
When I opened the apartment door (on the second floor) I was hit by an overwhelming odour of dampness/mould/maybe a leaky spa, I have no idea but I became short of breath immediately.
The kitchen in the apartment was tired and old. Not the best first impression at all, right inside the front door.
We opened up the sliding door thinking some fresh air was all that was needed but that was when the reality of the alleged “ocean view” hit me. There was no view, only trees. A wall of green which may not have bothered some guests but I did not pay top dollar for a tree view.
The main bedroom had the ensuite with a spa that looked like it should have been in a 1980’s museum! I went looking for a walk in shower which I eventually found behind another bathroom/laundry door.
By then I was short of breath and knew I could not stay there, so much for my seven night booking.
I spoke to the Manager who was very helpful and offered a full refund which I accepted. I could not get out of there quickly enough.
Having to find alternative accommodation late in the afternoon was a challenge but I found somewhere much nicer and cheaper. Win/win.
Do not stay here unless you are on the top floor and actually get the view you pay for.

Very disappointing we booked three months in advance for a deluxe room and got a very poor room with almost no view Very noisy, dirty seats on dining chairs, the apartment is in desperate need of modernisation. Air-conditioning is incredibly noisy. Do not book here, you will most likely be disappointed. Staff said we couldn't move to a better room because it was full however the car park was mostly empty for our entire stay. Please don't book here.

My partner and I have stayed at Alexandra Headland several times in the past. This was our first year staying at the Grand Palais - and it won’t be our last (we have booked for next year already :-) . From the outset the Resort Managers, Janelle and Steve, could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We stayed for a little over five weeks and were more than pleased with the accommodation. The apartment was spotless, we had everything we needed along with a wonderful ocean view! The reception staff were always friendly, as was the case with the cleaning staff. Yes, it rained a bit while we were there (but that’s out of everyone’s control) yet, undeterred by the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the 29 degree water in the outdoor pool, in the rain! Wonderful!!! As you might guess, we highly recommend the Grand Palais. Thanks to all we made our holiday so … GRAND!
