BreakFree Alexandra Headland Beach is lauded for its prime location across from the beach, which delights families and beach enthusiasts alike. The hotel's pool and proximity to local dining options also receive positive marks. However, experiences with the service can be inconsistent, with reports of both commendable and disappointing interactions at the reception.
Guests are divided on the value, as some praise the affordability while others point out the rooms' need for modernization and the presence of additional fees. The cleanliness of the rooms has been a concern, with calls for more thorough maintenance.

This resort is in a beautiful part of the world and has well maintained outdoor areas. The resort is located across the road from Alex Beach and is walking distance to cafes and a mini supermarket. It has a small play area and a busy BBQ area, both of which are very convenient.
The rooms were a decent size and the resort is well laid out. The reception staff were not helpful - we were given incorrect directions to our room and despite booking in advance, our four rooms were spread across different buildings, which was annoying.
Also you may want to bring your own pool towels. Our group of 13 was provided with six towels and charged $3 per towel for additional towels. The pool itself was great - two heated pools with small adjoining spas and a lagoon pool, which is not heated (and too cold in winter).

Caught a Greyhound coach from Brisbane so I arrived too early for check in at 2. My room was ready by about 1.30 so only a short wait. My booked room was actually a one bedroom pool view but I was given a pool side room, so on the ground floor with direct access from the verandah into the pool which was great, although the weather was not really pool weather and I didn’t use this facility.
The apartment was quite well equipped with a hob, microwave and an electric frying pan as well as cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery. In the shower room there was a washer and dryer. Although I was only there four days there was a mop and bucket and hoover, and that is how I found out that the rooms were not serviced. I eventually found out information about cleaning and emptying bins etc via a QR code on the fridge. But no one had mentioned this at check in.
The wifi was described as high speed internet but it was not that fast. And although there was Foxtel on the TV and a TV capable of Netflix and YouTube it was impossible to connect the TV to the internet to use these options. The Foxtel channels were quite limited. There is also a TV in the bedroom.
One of the bits of information that would have been useful to have when booking (I am slightly disabled) was with regard to the bathroom. There is a small square bathtub enclosed by glass with a shower over it, but no handles to help you step in and out. The top of the tub was about mid-thigh on me, and it was quite tricky to negotiate, particularly as there were no handles. I don’t know if they have more accessible showers in other rooms but I coped (badly).
There are some restaurants and bars at the front of the hotel on the esplanade but these were closed on a Wednesday when I arrived. And some were closed as the building is being renovated. Luckily there was a very well stocked small shop on the corner and I also had a car so could do a supermarket shop.
If you want a pool towel it is an extra $3 and if you run out of anything in the room such as tissues or loo roll you have to go to reception to request but they were fine about giving these out. One of the downsides of my stay was the acoustics in the building, the floors are all tiled and consequently when the family in the apartment above me started playing tennis before 7 a.m. the noise woke me up, not sure why they thought bouncing a tennis ball on a tiled floor before 7 was acceptable but they clearly did. I could hear a lot from the upstairs and the next door apartment throughout my stay there, so this is definitely a negative.

Dear Wales_solo-traveller, Thank you for taking the time to review our property, I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. I was sorry to read that your stay was negatively affected by the noise of the surrounding units. While almost all of our Studio and 1 Bedroom apartments have a shower over bath, our 2 and 3 bedroom apartments all have a walk-in shower. I am sorry if you were not made aware of this at the time of booking. I hope we can welcome you back to our Resort when you next visit the Sunshine Coast

3 night stay in apartment 236, on the ground floor pool side with two bedrooms, with family, silver member. The staff professionally and attentively provided all the information necessary for the residence. On the All Accord description of the apartment it is indicated that it measured 80m2. In fact it must be 55 m2 (without the terrace), which is a bit tight. Apartment 236 was immaculately clean, it even smelled of bleach on arrival. It benefits from a larger terrace than the apartments above. The kitchen is small but everything is there, and it is well equipped. The 2 All Accord welcome drinks were chilled in the refrigerator, thank you for this attention. A small dining area followed by a living room opening onto the terrace. The rooms are a decent size but suffer from a lack of sufficient storage space for clothes. The closet is small and there is little space for suitcases. This must be complicated for long stays. Storage should be provided in the cupboard which houses the hot water tank. The apartment is equipped with washing machine and dryer. A free parking space is provided with the apartment. The residence includes a large lagoon swimming pool with two slides. The atmosphere is very family-friendly. There is a games room and outdoor games for children. The residence is located just opposite the supervised beach, and shops are located nearby (pizzeria, burger, fish and chips, restaurant, grocery store, etc.). A great destination for a family.

The location overlooking the beach was great as was the pools but that's about all the positive comments I have.
The rooms were not cleaned thoroughly prior to our check in, we were charged for any little extra requested including pool towels and porta cot ($10 a day!) which was provided not set up, without a soft mattress and standard sized bed sheets! The noise from neighboring rooms was shocking too, I have never stayed in an apartment where you can hear the people above walking around! Staff were not overly friendly and during our stay the fire alarm was accidently activated which ended up in quiet a confusion with half the guests evacuating and no explanations from staff at any point.
The rooms were to be sprayed for pest control while we were there which I do understand needs to happen however we were not given any prior warning with any chance to change/cancel our booking. If we had known we definitely would not have stayed in this hotel, as although it is deemed "safe", we have small children including crawling babies who we do not want exposed to the chemicals! Staff seemed very disinterested in our concerns.
Overall would not recommend staying here.

We had three units - two which were excellent and one that was below expectations. The staff are exceptional and grounds wonderful for the whole family. The locations is a short walk across the road to the beach - with Alex Surf Club upstairs and around the back wonderful for breakfast, lunch or dinner. ACCOR needs to ensure owners of units keep up maintenance and renovation as the old units are awful. Those owners who have refurbished need to be supported by ACCOR as they provide a much better accommodation to holiday makers. To ensure you have a well maintained unit always ask what the standard is like in the unit you are booking.

Nice location, however rooms are tired and need some TLC. We stayed in June and had a 2BR direct pool access room, prob wrong time of year the water was freezing and we hardly used it. The beach is directly across the road and is patrolled. For the morning coffee, I highly recommend the Alex Surf Club Bistro and Milk and Beans Coffee House, also recommend the Pizza from 24/7 which is pretty much on site, little pricey but very tasty. Recommend hiring a car to get around and visit more beaches and attractions in the Sunshine Coast. Overall I would stay again maybe in the hotter months to use the pool and beach more. Would recommend updating the units and heating the pool.

Two warm pools, and a very long unheated pool that goes under bridges, emerging into larger pools, is fun. Opposite the patrolled surf beach (for afternoon swims when the pools are in shade) and the licensed surf club. #600 frequent bus connects to Maroochydore and Mooloolaba, but we walked to either each day (4km round trip). Swim up bar not operating. Studio had fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, and a good sized balcony - very comfortable for two

Its not the most up to date decor with the most up to date appliances. But that is refected in the rates so it is kinder to the budget than many. Its all clean and well maintained. Location is fabulous with fantastic heated pools and spas and a long cold lagoon pool for the adventurous in winter. Staff are helpful and friendly. It has most amenities to enable eating in, including full laundry facilities and airconditioning. There are lifts to all levels for those not so able bodied. Wifi is available for an extra cost. We haven't tested it. Data mobile signal is average. Some units have a dual hotplate all have dishwasher fridge microwave electric frypan. Entertainment equipment is a bit disappointing not having a decent TV with streaming so maybe throw your chromecast to plug into the hdmi and a bluetooth speaker in your luggage to solve that one. Its perfect for those of us not made of money but just want all the comforts of home plus the leisure of great fun by the pool and the attractions of the Sunshine coast. I don't think its reasonable to rate it badly compared to top priced accomodation. Its awesome for the price.

Stayed one night to scatter my husband’s ashes at Alexandra Headland. Paid days in advance. On arrival I was told $200 will be taken from my credit card as a “hold” until the keys are returned. Thanks and welcome to Queensland. It might be informative to tell guests before booking or at least put it in your description with ACCOR. I was told the pest control man will service the room after departure, he turned up about 0800 while I was packing up. The complex is a number of joined buildings with inadequate signage. Try finding your building will get your 10,000 steps up. Asking where to eat dinner out, I was told to get takeout delivered. Upon opening the unit door I was hit with the smell of toilet. The complex is close to the beach and surf club with undercover parking. Upon departure I enquired can you release my $200 please as I handed back the keys. I was told this takes FOURTEEN DAYS and depends upon what housekeeping reports back about your room. My $200 is yet to be returned.

We have stayed at Alex beach resort a few times over the past 20 years. We love the location, we love the pool, we love the pool access rooms and that the resort never feels overcrowded. The only downfall - The rooms need to be cleaned properly, walls and skirtings were filthy and shower/bath didn’t look/feel like it had been cleaned with a cleaner, only given a wipe over.

There is a bbq area that is for the use of all guests - as to using your own portable weberq on the balcony - you would need to contact Breakfree themselves.
The 2 bedroom swimup room our daughter had did have a large fridge - we think there was an oven and pretty sure it had a large enough balcony to sit 6 ppl.
