I can't quite understand the positive reviews of this place. We paid £180 for one night, expecting a luxurious experience for that price. We received a frosty reception on arrival, and no offer of help with our bags which we were clearly struggling with. There was no wifi in the room - we were told it was due to the...

Stopped by chance in Ashford in the water on our way to bakewell. 2 course lunch with a friend. Mushroom and goats cheese tart followed by chicken breast salad. So tasty it was really enjoyable. Topped off with a bottle of IPA..

Very pleasant location, staff very friendly and helpful, food superb, room immaculate. Unfortunately Wifi is only available in the bar area and my mobile was not in range (v.useful for my trip :-)). Many thanks for an enjoyable stay.

I love this Hotel. The room we had was a tad faded glory. The first impression was WOW then you notice it's all a bit tatty round the edges but ok. Nothing bad. However the bathroom was first class. Looked like it had just been done. The toilet is a bit high! your feet don't touch the floor-strange! Our beds...

Expensive at first glance, but very stylish little Hotel. Good and clean room, nice welcome and even a glass of Sherry in the room and a bowl of nuts and a box of bisquits to go with your coffee or tea. We were the only Dinner guests that evening. 45 Pounds per person sounds very expensive, but everything was freshly...

We stayed at the Riverside for one night. The setting is peaceful, alongside the river. We reserved the room through Booking.com but were extremely disappointed that traditional English breakfast was not included, despite paying £100 for the room. Had we realised we would have booked one of the other many excellent hotels locally, we love our breakfast! The orange juice...

We stayed here for 2 nights in August - our room overlooking the gardens and river was lovely and very comfortable. Just a little spoilt by the noise from the main road. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I do feel though then when you pay £160 per night that they could include a cooked breakfast. We would go there...

My husband surprised me for my birthday with a lovely treat to Bakewell this August. The cottage is slightly outside Bakewell but not very far to get to. Approx 40 minutes walking or 5 minutes by car! :) The walk to the town was very enjoyable indeed, lovely views of the river and of the peaks. We stayed in the...

We had a super stay. The rooms were very comfortable. We stayed in a garden room in the newer part of the house so that we could open the patio doors. Really nice to get a fruit bowl, sherry and chocolate in the room on arrival. Dinner was very nicely presented, fresh and good quality but, the courses did arrive...

We accompanied my sister and brother-in-law for lunch on a warm and sunny August day. They are regulars at this hotel in the beautiful village of Ashford in the Water, but it was our first visit. What an elegant place! Everything about it is beautiful from its situation near the River Wye to the furnishings, fabrics and its use of...
