A very warm welcome from James and staff. The room was extremely comfortable and clean with all the things needed for a short break. The evening meal was deeply impressive. Escabeche with grey mullet followed by feather blade of beef. The beef had been marinated and was perfectly cooked and presented. Although I was hoping for a good meal based...

A delightful combination of a real ale pub, restaraunt overseen by Michelin trained chef with comfortable and well stocked bedrooms. In addition, the location is ideal for exploring the Peak District with its many attractions.

First I should say this was a surprise birthday lunch for my 50th so all credit to my wife for organising this. Secondly a big thanks to the folks at the Samuel Fox, they opened up on a Thursday lunch between Christmas and New Year for the 9 of us. Food was excellent and the welcome second to none. It's...

We stayed here for a night just before Christmas and also ate in the restaurant for dinner. It was wonderful - comfortable, immaculate room, friendly staff and, best of all, absolutely fantastic food! I haven't enjoyed a meal this much for ages, and we eat out fairly regularly. Local ingredients, perfectly (but not fussily) presented with great flavours - I...

This eatery had been on our list for quite some time and we decided to book in for lunch on New Years Day. I have to say, my wife and i were most impressed with everything. The building is superb sat in a wonderful location nestled in the Hope Valley. The decor is contemporary and well thought out. The food...

The service at Samuel fox was 10/10. The rooms excellent and food some of the best we've ever had anywhere. There are many points of interest including Peak District national park, ladybower reservoir, Derwent reservoir and the village of Castleton.

We visited with family members including a baby and a toddler. We had the Christmas menu which was very nice. We had fun with the Christmas Crackers. The restaurant was full on a Wednesday night so best to make a reservation. They have a nice children's menu. Every one of us enjoyed our experience. Prices were midrange.

From arriving everything was wonderful. The staff were always lovely, the room was clean, comfortable and the view (we were at the front) was amazing. We stayed 2 nights, had dinner the first, best food we've ever eaten and then walked it off by heading to the local pubs. Breakfast was also superb.

Had an overnight stay at Samuel Fox. Boomed because of location & because the rooms looked contemporary, downstairs pub had fire. We were catching up with friends & decided to not eat at the pub, so I can not comment on evening food - the breakfast was scrummy though! The room was clean & comfy, with nice additional extras, such...

Stayed here for my husbands birthday for a couple of nights. Everything is just right at this lovely inn, fantastic staff throughout .. waiters, waitress and owner so welcoming and professional. The place was spotlessly clean and the bedroom comfy and cosy with a good choice of tea, fresh coffee, decanter of sherry, chocs and biscuits, lovely basket of toiletries...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Samuel Fox Country Inn is situated in the pretty village of Bradwell in the heart of the Hope Valley in Derbyshire's peak District National park and offers breathtaking views from the bar and restaurant. The building underwent a full refurbishment in July 2008 and is modern and stylish while still managaing to retain its rustic charm. All of its rooms are delux double rooms with en-suite bathrooms; they have at least 26 inch flat screen televisions;internet access and coffee and tea facilities. In October 2012 the Inn was acquired by new manager and head chef, James Duckett in his first pub venture after an early career in the kitchens of fine dining restaurants in the UK, France, Netherlands and Australia and, more recently running his own restaurants in Devon and Andalucia. James is passionate about food and uses, wherever possible, good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, for his 'blackboard' bar snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner menus alike. With two AA rosettes, fine food is a special feature of the Samuel Fox. However, there's also a very warm welcome awaiting those wishing to just enjoy a drink in comfortable and convivial surroundings. ... more   less
