We stopped here for the night and the other reviews were right. This is a fantastic place to stay. We had a first class dinner and then a wonderfully restful nights sleep. Dinnerwise I'd recommend the belly pork and try their bread, fresh and incredibly tasty!

I stayed at the Samuel Fox for three nights and loved every minute. James, the proprietor and head chef is a regular presence 'front of house' and is helpful, professional and efficient. The inn has only four rooms, and they are of a high standard and very comfortable. The welcoming gift of sherry and hand-made chocolates is a unique touch....

Another fabulous meal at the Samuel Fox. Great choices of & reasonably priced wine list. We had sea smoked trout & scotch egg to start. Both were lovely but the scotch egg stole the show - perfection on my plate. Light, with beautiful crumbs, top quality meat & the egg had a slightly runny centre. We had rib eye steak...

My fiancée and I stayed for a night away and fantastic meal the weekend after valentines at this unique little gem of a place. The room itself was lovely, well equipped and cosy. Fantastic little touches abounded that really set it apart which ranged from the diverse selection of teas, to the sherry and grapes. The meal itself was fantastic,...

A very warm welcome from James and staff. The room was extremely comfortable and clean with all the things needed for a short break. The evening meal was deeply impressive. Escabeche with grey mullet followed by feather blade of beef. The beef had been marinated and was perfectly cooked and presented. Although I was hoping for a good meal based...

A delightful combination of a real ale pub, restaraunt overseen by Michelin trained chef with comfortable and well stocked bedrooms. In addition, the location is ideal for exploring the Peak District with its many attractions.

First I should say this was a surprise birthday lunch for my 50th so all credit to my wife for organising this. Secondly a big thanks to the folks at the Samuel Fox, they opened up on a Thursday lunch between Christmas and New Year for the 9 of us. Food was excellent and the welcome second to none. It's...

We stayed here for a night just before Christmas and also ate in the restaurant for dinner. It was wonderful - comfortable, immaculate room, friendly staff and, best of all, absolutely fantastic food! I haven't enjoyed a meal this much for ages, and we eat out fairly regularly. Local ingredients, perfectly (but not fussily) presented with great flavours - I...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Samuel Fox Country Inn is situated in the pretty village of Bradwell in the heart of the Hope Valley in Derbyshire's peak District National park and offers breathtaking views from the bar and restaurant. The building underwent a full refurbishment in July 2008 and is modern and stylish while still managaing to retain its rustic charm. All of its rooms are delux double rooms with en-suite bathrooms; they have at least 26 inch flat screen televisions;internet access and coffee and tea facilities. In October 2012 the Inn was acquired by new manager and head chef, James Duckett in his first pub venture after an early career in the kitchens of fine dining restaurants in the UK, France, Netherlands and Australia and, more recently running his own restaurants in Devon and Andalucia. James is passionate about food and uses, wherever possible, good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, for his 'blackboard' bar snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner menus alike. With two AA rosettes, fine food is a special feature of the Samuel Fox. However, there's also a very warm welcome awaiting those wishing to just enjoy a drink in comfortable and convivial surroundings. ... more   less
