We last visited the Sportsman's arms 14 years ago. On a return visit to Yorkshire we gave ourselves a treat 2 nights away from it all. We were not disappointed. The staff were friendly but remained professional. The food was excellent , the cooked breakfast certainly sets you up for the day. The restaurant suits all , tip, try to...

A colleague and I stopped overnight at this establishment and found it to be quirky and full of character. The staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much for trouble from the time of arriving to leaving. The real ale was well kept, a good wine list and an excellent menu was available either in the bar or...

This is a great place to stay and the food is excellent. Our stay was very relaxing, the staff were friendly and unobtrusive. The room was perfect, good TV, two, yes, two armchairs, the bathroom had a large mirror and plenty of shelf space to put your things. Why aren't all hotel rooms designed like this, it wasn't a huge...

It is probably wrong to mention names when they were all so good but Billy was everywhere and seemed in charge of everything and obviously really cared that guests had...

We ate in the bar, as opposed to the restaurant, which you should book and serves a taster style menu. in the Bar there is a good selection of dishes, covering seafood, game red meats and chicken. It appears to aim at a section of the market above pub food, it does it well enough, and it is reflected in...

We (two couples) have just enjoyed a delightful meal in the main restaurant. Beautifully presented perfectly cooked, scallops, grouse, lobster, grilled hake, sea bass... summer pudding and polenta cake. Wine selection is excellent. Well done to the staff.
