Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely location unfortunately run by a manager who is extremely rude, arrogant, incompetent and honestly probably crazy. Kicked us out at 10pm after some people in our group arrived a little later than the check in time. But still WELL BEFORE curfew. Its a camp site not a prestigous hotel! 2 trailers and 1 caravan travelling with dogs, she came screaming, yelling and swearing over like we just commited the most henious crime. She didnt care if we had to sleep on the roadside. God forbid your trip doesnt go to plan or people run late due to other factors. She will kick you to the curb with 0 compassion, and if your not packed up quickly enough (20mins) she'll call the cops on you! Funnily enough the police officers were extremely friendly and their body language suggested that they've had idiotic calls like this from her before. 3 nights and 2 unpowered sites and 1 powered site all paid for in advance and no refunds given. Got a text from her the next day saying she'll refund some of our money. But over 2 months later still nothing has been refunded! STAY AWAY - BETTER PLACES IN ALBANY EXIST We were lucky to have found someone who ran another camp site to take us in just before midnight.

Great place to stay, casual, laid back. Like going back 20 years to when caravan parks were parks and nor resorts, and over crowded. No tinsel but clean ablutions, well cared for site, beautiful soroundings, nice people in the park. We will continue to stay there

**DO NOT BOOK** We had stayed here 2 years ago with no issues, but this time we had a nightmare experience. Absolutely disgusting management, they kicked us out at 10:30pm with no refund on our 3 day booking after citing their 6pm “noise curfew” when we had friends arriving from perth at 645pm, and were quietly setting up their swag to go to bed. The yelling and ensuing police call was far more noise! Management are power tripping methheads. **DO NOT BOOK**

Booking was a fiasco. We had booked many months in advance and paid the necessary deposit, which was accepted at the time by the park. When we arrived at the beginning of January 2024 we were told that our bookings for 2 powered sites had been cancelled. At no time did the Park communicate with us that this was about to happen. We checked our emails and for missed calls as they claimed they had attempted to contact us and, predictably, there were none. We checked around the area to attempt to find alternative accommodation, but expectedly during the peak holiday season there was none to be found. We were then offered a place to locate our caravans in the paddock. Unpowered and unserviced (ie no water or water disposal). This was at the full unpowered site price. No cognisance of their booking blunder was included in their deliberations. It was apparently our fault we never responded to communications they never sent. Immediately after making the payment for the balance an email was received welcoming us to the Park and confirming the deposit. We were not the only potential patrons who were subjected to this treatment.

We stayed at Kalgan River Caravan Parks for 3 weeks in November and it was enjoyable. We were welcomed by a pleasant lady at the front desk. The toilets and ablutions were clean and the park was quite well kept. However, during our stay we encountered the Female Manager/Owner who was aggressive, abrasive and rude. She needs to take a course in customer relations. John & Gail Laney

My son booked this for 2 nights for us (mum & dad) and his girlfriend. The place is pretty basic. No tea towels. No fans. Lack of plug sockets. Cupboards in the kitchens were dirty. It's lovely to see the Kangaroos everywhere, I expect that's why we were booked in to stay. The owners need to do a bit of upgrading. But overall, a nice stay.

The location is a little out of town but in a pretty, quiet location. Management were rude and abusive when informing us we should have left 1 week into a paid 2 week booking. In the end they refunded 5 days accommodation. Park is nothing like their website - grass was dead and it was dusty.

Room Tip: Dont take a bay near the roadway to the boatramp as the bouncing tinnies at 7am are very annoying.

This is for the Kalgan River Cafe (can't find it on Tripadvisor & we didn't stay in the adjacent Kalgan holiday resort). The food is delicious, authentic Tha, home cooked and really tasty. When we got our spring roll starter, we knew we were onto a winner as it was home made & authentic (none of the usual bought in frozen stuff). We got a selection of starters & mains and shared. Really delicious and full of flavour. We really enjoyed our meal and highly recommend this hidden gem. We'll be returning again when next in Albany.

We've been lucky enough to stay here three times now. Fantastic park. Great staff, good sized sites, very clean facilities, pizza night, fishing, golf and resident kangaroos. Rebecca and Deanne, the office staff, go out of their way to help in any way they can. A big thank you to them for helping us through some unexpected events which changed our travel plans and circumstances. We can say in all honesty that this is definitely the best Park we've stayed in since we hit the road full time. It doesn't have jumping castles, playgrounds etc but it is located right on the river and there is so much fresh air and beauty. Also, great place to make your base so you can go and see all the amazing things around Albany and its surrounds. We're looking forward to going back again in December.

Needs to be more inviting and money re invested back into the place. Especially the camp kitchen.no one used the camp kitchen the whole week I stayed there. Bbq was never used . Location and atmosphere was excellent very happy with that. Looks like nothing has changed in 20 years
