Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just spend an amazing night camped out the back of this beautiful old pub. Tom and the family are the best hosts, dinner at the large table with other guests under the chandelier was awesome. 30 year old buffalo Buffy, who lives in the paddock out the back, enjoyed a feed of carrots

Good location to visit Porcupine Gorge. Motel room was compact but very clean & comfortable., especially the bed. The air conditioner was old and noisy but worked efficiently. The bar area is particularly quirky with dozens of bush hats adorning the walls, along with various mounted animal heads & two random jillaroo mannequins sharing a drink with us. The laconic barman served dinner in the dining room, complete with a chandelier.....we were the only customers at the 10 seater table. Great fun!

We stayed here as my husband wanted to see where his Grandfather worked back in the 1940’s. The Pub itself has so much historical information as well as historical memorabilia! The formal Dining Room, where we had dinner took us both back to a bygone era! Food was delicious!!! The Motel room was beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and luxurious linen.
The Owners of this Pub were passionate about their town and took pride in maintaining it.
Well worth a visit and a stay!!!

We stayed here on what was, for us, a bad night. The State of Origin Game was on in Townsville and the bar was busy as locals and travellers watched the game on the television. As a consequence, our anticipated communal meal with fellow travellers in the cosy dining room came to zilch and dinner was simply just a hamburger eaten at the bar. A disappointment too was our host, Tom, who was not exactly friendly or welcoming. However, the above paled into insignificance when we realised there was NO heating in our room. The temperature that night dropped to 0.5°C. We were lucky in that a kind traveller, who was self contained in his caravan parked behind the pub, lent us a blow heater. Andrea, Tom's wife, also gave us an extra blanket but, without the loan of a heater, we would have frozen!

The Priarie Hotel Motel is truly a little oasis in the outback. Accommodation is super clean & modern. The pub is like walking back in time with the wonderful old memorabilia surrounding the place, with old fashion hospitality extended by the publican Andrea. Dinner was good country fare. Wonderful experience which has enhanced our big Queensland road trip.

Probably the best country/outback pub we have visited. The owners are the most delightful coupe who have been there for thirty years. Full of memorabilia... quirky. Tea towels, shirts etc for sale. All proceeds going to the primary school in a bid to keep it open.

We had a most enjoyable night here. We were served a large well presented meal followed by a relaxing evening in the bar. We loved the memorabilia around the pub both inside & out. Our room was clean, comfy & well presented. Tom & Andrea ( & a bloke staying with them ) were welcoming & great hosts. We will be back.

What a wonderful evening. Wearied and parked both vehicles out in the free camp area. We set both up, and could see a tap for water available and a wonderful book for book library. Brilliant idea, you then walk around the front and discover a wonderful array of old worn out saddles, and other collectables. The bar is a must see with a couple of permanent locals holding up the bar, bit difficult to get some conversation but we had fun trying. The group dinner in the dining room was great, basic meal but it certainly filled the spot. Then I booked into my motel room, it was clean, comfortable and picture perfect. No roof top camper for me!!! Wonderful hosts, well worth dropping in

We stayed for 2 nights at the Prairie and what a great stay, the motel room was so comfortable, clean, good linen & towels and great little extras perfect for outback Qld. Andrea & Tom could not have been more welcoming, the pup is a must see and well worth the stop. The hospitality was wonderful and it was great to meet the girls as well. A true highlight of our trip to Northern Qld. Thank you so much Mark & Sue.

This place is cool. Really quirky bar with lots of antiquities collected over many years.
Rooms spotlessly clean and air conditioned. (Think they only have 3)
Food good and good drink selection.
Tom, Andrea and family really looked after us and we felt at home.
Will be back
