Our host was friendly and very helpful with local directions and recommendations. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room was large, although the bathroom was small but adequate. We had a room overlooking the harbor and the breeze coming in off the North Sea was wonderful. This B&B does not serve a prepared breakfast, but there were plenty of choices in baked goods, cereals and fruit.

We travelled to Scotland in the middle of storm Dennis and didn’t know how the trains would be running so rang in advance. The owners of the guest house were really pleasant about it and just said to keep them informed.
As it turned out, we got to Stonehaven exactly on time and received a nice welcome and check in.
The guest house itself is beautifully decorated - the owner is also an interior designer and it shows. We were very comfortable in our family room with gorgeous views of the harbour. My girls (age 6 and 7) loved playing on the beach and we enjoyed a windy but beautiful walk to Dunnottar Castle along the coastal path which starts just behind the guest house.
We ate at the pubs located in the harbour so only a 2 minute walk away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the comfort, decor, location and views and would recommend Shorehead guest house to anyone looking to stay in Stonehaven. Thank you Jane for a lovely stay!

We enjoyed our night's stay at Shorehead Guesthouse which is right on the lovely harbour at Stonehaven. Our room was immaculate and modern with a good hot ensuite shower and an extremely comfortable bed. The help yourself breakfast suited us as I had an early start fishing in the morning, although ordinarily we would have liked to have had the choice of a hot cooked breakfast. Jane, the owner was friendly and gave us lots of tips on what to do in the area and we would happily stay there again.

Went to checkin but didn't stay. Pictures say it all really, although the owner refunded us she thought we were talking a complete load of nonsense and referred to a dead fly in the fire light in the hall. Dead fly stuck to the wall in the bedroom, cobwebs in corners and thick dust everywhere.

Said we would be arriving early were told keys would be left in safe place for us they were not there we e mailed owner no reply so waited in pub next door as was raining for over and hour went back to guest house as still not heard via e mail. Keys had now appeared owner was there said she had forgotten about keys didn't apologise .
Room was very dark, stuffy, claustrophobic window overlooked refuse bins not great for £108.
Owner does not live on site so no cooked breakfast, on reaching dining room no bread to make toast, no fresh fruit or orange juice just prepacked pastries, muesli bars, microwaveable porridge pots.
We ended up walking into centre of Stonehaven and paying for a cooked breakfast in a local hotel.
Very disappointed considering price of stay .

I had a comfortable stay but was disappointed with no breakfast as that was advertised when I booked. To be greeted with the price is room only was not good enough.

The situation was good which was one reason I had chosen this accommodation but there were others that would have suited as well with breakfast included.

One day I returned to find cleaning materials left in my room -not sure if this meant that my room hadn’t be cleaned that day.

I will not stay again.

Sadly this B&B is living on its past glory. The owner does not live on site .
Our bedroom was very cramped with one window that only opened a few inches and overcrowded with furniture.
We did try to open a window in the guests lounge but that did not open at all. Again a safety concern.
It is now very dated and in places dirty and unkept.
Cleaning issues were very noticeable in all places.
Breakfast we were told was continental which you helped yourself too .
It’s classed as a B&B but the kitchen was open and guests were cooking their own food.
Which again did give us some safety concerns.
The only good thing about this place were the beds which were very comfortable and clean.
£130.00 for one night for two which in retrospect we should have left and demanded our money back .
I do have photographs that I’m happy to share privately.

Great little guest house right on the shoreline. We were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was superb. Very friendly, family run business. We stayed for the annual ston fire festival and we were in the prime location to see all of the celebrations. I, and my wife are already deciding when would be best to go back. Definitely would love to return.

We wished we could have stayed longer. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Comfy beds and a nice picnic style breakfast which was more than generous.
Jean the landlady was very friendly and helpful.
We have no hesitation in recommending this guesthouse which is convenient for days out

This is not a traditional B&B because: (1) The Host is not onsite overnight. This caused a problem with extremely noisy quests that were yelling and running the stairs until 2:30 a.m. and smoking on the back porch with the door into the building open; (2) There is not a prepared breakfast but instead a less than continental breakfast set up with cold cereals, a single type of unripe fruit, toast that you make, and store bought (not even from the bakery section) snacks; (3) Nothing is marked in the kitchen for this self serve breakfast set up so we had to hunt the drawers and cupboards for flatware, cups, mugs, plates, etc. plus the kitchen itself was rather messy with so many people serving themselves and leaving detritus behind. It was also odd that the heat was only turned on for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening.

Room Tip: Do not stay downstairs and be aware that the "breakfast" is not traditional, hot, or homemade.
