Alan and Margaret are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother and father have been staying with them for 20 years and my mother calls the Beachgate Guest House "home from home".

This was my second stay and I cannot wait to return. The breakfasts are delicious and so moreish that you don't need a lunch! Alan's porridge followed by his full vegan "Scottish" are amazing. The rooms are immaculate with such an attention to detail. Thank you, Alan and Margaret for making our stay so perfect and take care until next time.

Alan and his mum have become family friends by taking such good care of my father in law and his late wife for many years. It was my first visit to his fabulous guest house and it really is as wonderful as they had said. You will not find a more caring and attentive host. The house is kept perfectly and the breakfast is devine. I'm still full and I ate 8 hours ago. Look no further you must stay here you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a most wonderful stay.

It has been an all around fantastic stay. Alan is such a pefect host!
Our room was spottlessly clean and the view on the ocean is breathtaking. The breakfast is out of this world, fresh and visibly prepared with love by Alan and (we guessed) his lovely mother.
The Guest House is positioned perfectly right, directly on the sea front and only 2 minutes from the city centre. The little harbour wirh many nice restaurants is a lovely 10 minute walk along the beach.
We even extended our stay to two days so we could enjoy more of Alans hospitality!
We highly recomend booking at the Beachgate Guest House and we will certainly return!!!

A wonderful place to stay if you are in Stonehaven. Luxurious and emmaculate rooms with a beautiful view over the bay, scrumptious breakfasts and lovely, friendly owners. I've been there several times and can highly recommend it!

When we arrived were met with a warm welcome from Allan who showed us to our beautiful room very tastefully decorated (recently refurbished). The bed was very comfy. The view was amazing looking out to sea. The breakfast was outstanding, porridge was delicious, best I've ever tasted. Meal finished off with lovely fresh fruit salad. It is the extra touches that makes the stay special. Fresh flowers, chocolates, biscuits, crystal glasses( not the plastic you often get), binoculars to watch the seabirds. Even entertainment by Gully waiting for his breakfast. Allan and his Mum made our stay very special. God willing we will be back. A & F

A very comfortable place with a beautiful seaview. Alan was really helpful with everything. The room was very tidy and absolute clean.we had a really comfortable and big bed.

For breakfast Alan asked me, which kind of egg I would prefer: chicken, duck or goose. Also it was possible to choose between a lot of fresh menus for breakfast. Really tasty and brilliant.

Worth the five stars and also worth the price!

Allan and his mother by far the soul of this little B&B. The location is fabulously placed right next to the beach where you can see the tide coming in and going out, watch sailboats and seagulls, and enjoy the little path for a walk to the Tolbooth or to the ice cream shop on the opposite end.

Their breakfast will have you full until dinner. With a simple "Please be seated and we'll take care of you" Allan offers you a menu for breakfast options, offers juices, coffee and tea, and sets you up for a decadent breakfast! Poached eggs with smoked salmon, a traditional Scottish breakfast, scrambled eggs and bacon and MORE!

My father was getting a headcold and had to take a day out of the vacation to lie in bed and get better. Allan offered him a "medicinal" tumbler of whiskey while his mother gave us times and options for doctors in the village if he needed them!

The house is clean and welcoming, and the beds are so comfortable! I highly recommend staying AT LEAST TWO days to wander and enjoy the calm tranquility which is Stonehaven.

A 'Lovely Gem' in Stonehaven to stay.
We were on route to Aberdeen for work so decided to book a Saturday overnight stay to break the 5 hour journey from home in Newcastle. So glad we did.
Room was first class and inviting with all we needed, and more. Plenty of space with ample storage should you require it. Lovely little touches, such as fine wine glasses in case you bring a bottle. Beautiful bathroom with a good shower.
Car was parked safely at the guest house too.
Met by Alan and we immediately relaxed with his friendly chatter and were left to our own devises with door keys to come and go. Alan gave us a quick run down on the best of Stonehaven, so off we went for a walk around the harbour, which is actually divided into 2, one for smaller pleasure boats and one for larger working boats. There is also a sea training company there. With 2 pubs and restaurants on the harbour side too for a tipple. Then we went along the beach and also into the town. That evening we ate in the Indian restaurant literally 2 minutes walk from the guest house, enjoyed our choices.
Breakfast in the sea view lounge was just lovely, with a good varied choice and amble to fill you, so if you leave hungry its your own fault. Eggs from their own little flock! Alan's mother was on hand too and a very cheery lady she is.
Did notice Stonehaven holds a Sunday morning car boot in the market square, 2 minutes from Beachgate house. So before setting off we did actually walk round the market, and had a good chatter with the friendly locals and found a 'bargain'!! too.
So yes we would definitely recommend a stay here, our only grumble was that we hadn't booked in for more nights.

I stayed at Beachgate House a week ago for three nights. It was wonderfully positioned overlooking the beach and sea. The guest house was delightful and obviously much thought had gone into the decor and visitor needs. I travelled alone and was made very welcome. I was given lots of useful information about places to eat and visit and was given a lift by Alan the owner, to Dunnottar Castle which is just outside of Stonehaven and well worth a visit.

The breakfast was possibly the best I've had anywhere. The usual cereals and full English was supplemented by a final course of exotic fruit salad. It was a treat as I always find I miss out on fruit when I'm away from home.

I had a very special stay in Stonehaven and much of it was due to Alan and his exceptional Guest House.
