The ideal B&B? Could well be.

Furnished to a high standard, the accommodation was clean and well-maintained, and especially comfortable. Unfortunately, we could only stay for two nights, but that was long enough to appreciate all the effort that has gone into making this an excellent place to stay. The breakfasts are simply outstanding, and Michelle and David’s recommendations for evening meals are equally as good. We dined exceptionally well at the Creel Inn (Catterline) and the Quayside, Gourdon.

Walks in and around the local area offer hours of relaxation with much more being available if you’re willing to drive a short distance. For example, the steep cliffs of Fowlsheugh (RSPB) are a few minutes away by car where, depending on the time of the year, you can see the spectacular sight of tens of thousands of sea birds, including kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbill and puffins. Looking forward to a future visit.

Stonehaven is such a beautiful place to visit but…….the Chapel of Barras Farm B & B is the jewel in the crown! Dave and Michelle are the perfect hosts - they make you feel as though they’ve been friends for years, so charming and welcoming. They have an ideally located, gorgeous farmhouse with lovely rooms and the best breakfast. THE BEST BREAKFAST! Repeated for emphasis because Dave and Michelle really go beyond the norm when it comes to caring for their guests. An absolute must book B and B. 11/10 for quality and care.

Chapel of Barras Farm is one of the best b&bs we have stayed in. Michelle gave us such a friendly welcome, the room was spacious, light and airy with a huge bathroom and very comfy bed. David and Michelle have thought of every comfort including excellent toiletries, power shower, welcome tray and homemade tray bake. Breakfast was excellent including home cured bacon, homemade bread and jams and local eggs and sausages. David gave us some good tips including visiting the nearby Dunnottar Castle which we loved. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs to choose from in nearby Stonehaven. We liked the Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant and Ship Inn and had we stayed longer would have liked to have tried the Creel Inn, Catterline and the seafood shack on the harbour front at Stonehaven. Anyone visiting will love this place!

This is the 2nd time we spent the weekend at Chapel of Barras and we absolutely love it!

Rooms are very good in size, spotlessly clean and have everything you need. We were travelling with our 1year old and Michelle provided the travel cot for our wee one and even got her 2 lovely books which Antonia just loves!

It's such a great place to stay. You're feeling so welcomed from the very first moment! Breakfast is also so delicious because everything is all home made with love!

Michelle and David are such great hosts too. They will welcome you as a family member to their guest house. They were so kind and took care of our daughter and played with her so we could have our breakfast in piece! This is not something you see very often in the guesthouses!

We will be definitely coming again! And if you come to Chappel of Barras make sure to get Michelle's home made jam- it's soon delicious 😇😇

We stayed for 3 nights and our grown up children joined us for two nights. Fabulous accommodation with attention to detail. Michelle and David are warm, welcoming hosts and very sociable. Breakfast was fabulous. Homemade bread and pancakes, and homemade brownies were delicious. Will definitely return and have already recommended to friends.

Practically perfect b&b. Hosts are incredibly welcoming, and have great knowledge of local area. The property is beautiful! Secluded but close to local amenities and attractions. Rooms were spacious and well put together - home made fudge was a treat!

My colleague and I stayed while working the Midsummer Beer Happening festival in Stonehaven. It was a little oasis in the middle of a very busy week. Lovely folk running it, clean spacious rooms, freshly cooked breakfast each morning. We couldn't have asked for more - but then they brought cake to our rooms each day, which was a delight!

Stayed here twice recently as working nearby. B&B is spotless with the most friendly hosts, Michelle & Dave couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was freshly prepared with lots of options. Home baking was a nice touch and very tasty indeed. Tony Mooney & the guys from Callidus, Scotland.

First class from start to finish, welcomed like old friends on arrival. Great location, not far from Stonehaven. Fantastic room with excellent shower and bathroom. Great views all around. Breakfast was amazing, all freshly cooked to order and Michelle made some wonderful pancakes. Not to be missed and next time we visit this beautiful part of the country we will definitely stay here again.
