We really enjoyed our stay at Chapel of Barras Farm. Michelle and David were very welcoming. The rooms are nicely decorated and the location away from main roads or villages ensures that you can rest well after a busy day of sightseeing. The choice at breakfast is plentiful and ensures you have enough energy for the day. We even asked for the recipe for the pancakes. But that’s not all about the food – every afternoon when we came back there was a kind of sweet snack ready for us to enjoy over coffee/tea. These snacks ranged from biscuits, cookies, shortbread and also gingerbread - for which we also got the recipe.

I can’t recommend the Chapel At Barras B&B enough! Everything about our stay was exceptional from the friendly welcome, the pristine and spacious rooms to the fantastic home-cooked and (really) locally sourced breakfasts. Home cooking and baking was sooooo good! Everything was done with care and with obvious pride in providing a top quality experience. We were discussing this the other night and agreed that it was by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in. I really can’t thank our hosts x and y enough for the friendly welcome and we enjoyed every minute.

This was a magical find. We arrived without a reservation, but they had room and welcomed us in. We enjoyed a clean, splendid room and huge bath and shower. All the amenties were spectacular. Michelle's breakfast was impossible to beat - homemade breads, made to order eggs, freshly processed bacon - o it was scrumptious. And to top it off the working farm had a splendid charm all on its own. Its location (Stonehaven) is a mecca for tourists, and centrally located for numerous activities and restaurants. Chapel of Barras Farm will not disappoint!

Did you ever wish that you could magically enter the homes you see in decorating magazines and stay there forever? Our stay at Chapel of Barras made our wish come true. You'll find yourself surrounded by beautiful meadows garnished with flowers and meticulous landscaping. The interior is simply perfect. Many local artists have contributed to a harmonious decor worthy of the finest dreams. Hosts David and Michelle are gifted and talented owners who present memorable meals and offer grand conversations. If you are looking for somewhere to create a precious moment, look no further. Chapel of Barras Farm is one of the best b&bs we have stayed in. Michelle gave us such a friendly welcome, the room was spacious, light and airy with a huge bathroom and very comfy bed. David and Michelle have thought of every comfort including excellent toiletries, power shower, welcome tray and homemade tray bake. Breakfast was excellent including home cured bacon, homemade bread and jams and local eggs and sausages. David gave us some good tips including visiting the nearby Dunnottar Castle which we loved. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs to choose from in nearby Stonehaven. We liked the Tolbooth Seafood Restaurant and Ship Inn and had we stayed longer would have liked to have tried the Creel Inn, Catterline and the seafood shack on the harbour front at Stonehaven. Anyone visiting will love this place!

Booked to stay at Chapel of Barras Farm Bed and Breakfast as a base to visit a friend in Stonehaven, and to travel to Stirling and Falkirk. Picked up the car from the airport, put it in the postcode on the satnav and in next to no time I arrived and received a lovely welcome.
The decor of the room was very much to my liking, as I also had to work. The room and ensuite were exceptionally clean. Breakfast was top class, and Michelle and Dave were wonderful hosts, such that the guests also echoed very nice pleasantries in the morning over breakfast.
I will certainly stay here again.

Where to start? Honestly a truly fabulous B&B! Everything you want and need; tucked away from the main road, on a working farm, wonderfully welcoming & engaging hosts (they couldn't do enough), a large bedroom with lots of wardrobe space, a large ensuite, comfy bed with a selection of pillows, fresh water in a glass bottle in the room, a mini flask of fresh milk for teas and coffees, a beautiful sleep, and a huge breakfast full of tasty food. I can't eat gluten and was provided with gluten free bread, AND sausages (a rarity in B&Bs) with my cooked breakfast. There were other gluten free treats offered too, but as I can't have sugar either - didn't have them
They recommended a local pub for dinner that served wonderful fish and seafood dishes.
It was a perfect place for me to stay having explored Aberdeenshire and before heading off towards the West Coast.
I'd happily drive all the way back there from Manchester just to experience their hospitality again!

A very warm welcome from Michelle and David, delicious breakfasts, and daily delivery of home-baked treats to the hospitality tray. Excellent location for touring the area. Super clean and comfortable in an idiliic location. The hosts Shelley & Dave went above and beyond to facilitate our group, nothing was too much trouble and the food was simply amazing! We had a super trip out to Dunnottar Castle which everyone thoroughly enjoyed … even the 20 year olds, highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Thank you so much, we’ll be back!!

Yet again Michelle & David exceeded all expectations. Rooms are spotless and a great size. We were met by Michelle, who had put us in the same room we were in last time we visited, which we were pleased with, there was already fresh milk and homemade shortbread for us, ginger cake the next day, then rocky road slices. Michelle makes most of her breakfast food from scratch, pancakes, jam, 3 types of bread, granola, even the bacon is cured on site. It’s a great experience and I can’t stress how welcomed you are made to feel. We stayed from Friday until Monday, when Monday came we both really didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend Chapel of Barra B&B, thanks again for making our stay unforgettable, we’ll be back again. Take care thinking of you both. Keep well until we come back again x Julie & Steven x
