The Ship Inn is lauded for its friendly service and spotless rooms with stunning harbor views, making it a charming choice for many travelers. While the hotel's location near the harbor is a highlight, especially for seafood enthusiasts, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the value, citing small portion sizes and high prices. Although the rooms are generally comfortable and well-maintained, a few visitors have mentioned they can be on the smaller side and the amenities slightly outdated.

This is a quality local hotel in a fantastic location - bed rooms are clean, comfy bedding and a clean functioning bathroom.
Staff are helpful and friendly - I would deff stay again.
Room 3 had a bath with shower over - I would suggest they provide a rubber bath mat so people do not slip when getting in or out of the shower.

Took my Mother (who is 89) and a friend here for lunch. This was to say a big thank you to my mother’s friend for looking in on her as I live in Cambridge. The restaurant did not have a table free but we did manage to get one in the bar will make sure that I make a reservation on my next visit. The food was tasty and well presented and the portions were very generous. I can recommend the ‘Joe Bay’ ice cream.

Dear 838granth Thank you so much for leaving us a five-star review. We can be really busy in the restaurant (always advisable to book if you can!) but if we have space available, then we do try to accommodate guests in the bar where we serve the same menu as the restaurant. We do hope that you'll stop in to visit the next time you are on a trip from Cambridge - we look forward to welcoming you.

We arrived at the ship Inn which is situation on the harbour front with wonderful views and plenty of parking along the front. We had a warm welcome and they reserved us a table for dinner as the pub was very busy and it was a Monday night but I understood why because the food was excellent. Our room was on the end of the pub away from the noise and we had the most amazing view and large spacious room with a comfortable double bed and large shower room. We paid slightly more for a sea view and it was worth every penny. Breakfast was really delicious and we ate it outside in the sun and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

What a find. We booked two rooms with sea view and they were comfortable and clean though tiny and with very little unpacking space. Narrow stairs to the second floor.
Bathrooms fine, light and we even had a bath in one. The inn offers single rooms even tinier than the double, true singles! We slept like logs in our soft and comfortable beds, woken by the seagulls.
As residents we were squeezed in for dinner in the bar even though it was full, and had a lovely meal after a short wait, the staff was very apologetic and accommodating so we didn’t mind a bit, the place is obviously much sought after even by locals. We had an evening walk and came back for a night cap in the bar, friendly service and a good range of whisky and other spirits.
Breakfast was unusual for our trip so far, no haggis or porridge but avocado toast etc. a central buffet with cereal and juice, fruit, yogurt etc and then the lady came round to make sure we got all the coffee, cooked dishes and toast we could dream of.
Much recommended, get a sea view if possible. Parking is a challenge but we moved our car later after folks had gone home after dinner, to right outside the front door, so don’t give up hope.

We were here at the weekend and this place was just what was needed. Relaxing and really wonderful views of the beach and the north sea. We could not fault the room, the staff or the food and the beach was within seconds of our room....what more could you ask for. What a wonderful relaxing time we had and we will certainly be back. We would highly recommend the Ship Inn at Stonehaven, if you are not staying overnight then we would highly recommend the restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

Sadly I only stayed for a single night for work reasons. I stayed in the single occupant room, which if your travelling alone or for a teenager travelling with a family is perfect. The room was very warm, cosy, and the bed, sheets and cover was very comfortable and welcoming after a long drive. In the morning, the view over the harbour is just awesome with the sunrise. And the breakfast was delicious and lasted me all day. The area, the people, the place - perfect and great value for money. I would like to bring my family back sometime in the future. My only regret - I could stay longer to enjoy the area. 5stars!

Sunday Drive to Stonehaven.  We arrived at the beautiful working harbour of this lovely north-eastern town intent on having a light snack lunch and a walk around the scenery there.  The Ship Inn was busy but in we went.  We were greeted warmly and duly sat down in that great space surrounding the bar and with an excellent view of the harbour itself.  The Wee Menu with sub-style sandwiches looked the very dab and we ordered one prawn and one egg mayo with one side of chips.  Well, it was much more than a mere sandwich:  and, quickly served, we set about our well displayed and efficiently served offerings with glee ... More like a full lunch and tasting of more than a unusually fine bit of value for money food than even we had expected.  "The Captain's Table" was certainly well spread.  My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our choice of eating-house and we will most certainly return for more of that good and comely Scottish Hospitality soonest.

Didn't actually stay in the hotel, but just stopped off for a coffee when on a day out, as we were staying in Aberdeen. Staff very friendly.

The harbour at Stonehaven is beautiful and there's a couple of hotels and a seafood restaurant, a very interesting museum which is free entry, but a donation doesn't go amiss for it's up-keep. There's a lovely little beach here too and on the 2 occasions we have visited was relatively busy.

The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Stonehaven. It is within walking distance of the beach, shops and restaurants. The room we had looked out over the harbour and we were able to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and do a bit of people watching! The room was clean and well equipped.
The breakfast was very tasty and there was adequate choice of food.
The evening meal we had in the bar was very good too. The staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent. The hotel has a great atmosphere.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We arrived without a booking on a busy Friday night but the staff were friendly and managed to seat us. My wife had a tasty mac and cheese, I had a pepper stuffed with 5 bean chilli, it could have had more chilli but was still nice. They had a good selection of drinks including some non alcoholic beers/ciders and were in a scenic location.
