We have been at El Cabito 4 years ago and we were stunned by the beauty of this place. The former manager (name no disclosed) genius when it comes to host people, had the magic touch to make you feel in a secret little place in the middle of the jungle (yeah, it is jungle no matter what other people may say, and it takes 20 minutes on a quad or jeep to get there from las galeras, if it doesn't rain), modest, and almost no comfort. ... Without going into details.. But all this was 4 years aogo..... And the price for the two "suites" cabanas was $25 x 2 people with breakfast.... Today, the place has not changed one bit (cabanas are exactly the same) and they build a little pathway in cement from the gate to the restaurant.. Pointless. What has really changed is the price and, sorry to say, the management.. Today you pay $60 (low season) each room (2 people) no breakfast.. But let's start with the day of our arrival... , we booked no matter what for 8 nights.. ( in memory of last experience, hoping in some real improvements.. Hot water for instance... We have arrived pretty late around 11.30 pm.. No other choice.. And no one was there neither to open the gate nor to show us into the rooms, eventhough we have advised we were arriving at that time.. First negative check mark.. When u run a place, u have to be there to welcome tour guests, no matter what. So -1 on a score from 0-10 Ok, we r now very tired, but excited, vacations just started and full of hope. We wake up around 8.00 am... still, no one there.. I get to the restaurant ( remenber I was the once) flip silence.. No one. After a few momements, Luigi arrives.. He's a nice local maintenence guy who asked me if i wanted a coffee.. I agreed.. Around 9.00 am the manager shows up, almost drunk, with a sigarette in his mouth ( no problem, I smoke too....) goes to the coffee pot, and get himself comfortable on a chair, without saying a word... I FINALLY SAY HELLO.. and I take he's the GM. We try to exchange a few words as he pretend not to understand any languages but spanish -2.. He is a liar.. He understand very well when he wants We ordered breakfast.. A nice lady prepared for us. you know fruits, eggs, coffee and bread.. It's time for us to leave and get to the beach. One of the rooms had no keys.. Luigi told us they will be ready soon.. Day one, two, three passed.. We had a blast.. And no keys were even tryied to be delivered to us some how.. Three days no cleaning of the rooms of couse. I dont rhinkni should be asking to clean the rooms or at least we could arrange . True, we came home pretty late around 9 and 10 pm , but the problem was no one is there in the morning either most of the time. -3 points The morning after i finnaly speak o the GM.. And quite franky he was very unpleasant. -4 The rooms got cleaned eventually, and the room key was delivered. +2. = -2 Ok,lnow you are bored about this revoew.. So I give + 4 just for the place itself... That has not changed.. And it deserve to be seen like many other eritets has mentioned. We did not eat there since the prices again went to the roof, and by knowing the management I can only assume it wasn't that great either ( it's a Small villge, and people talk) so total of score is now +2 out of 10. If u are able to get there, have a couple of margaritas , enjoy the view, and that's about it.. Unfortunatly they have turned a very special place in a almost ordinary place... Just to be kind. …
