Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hot Coffee is a B&B near Mae Chaam, that supports the Mae Na Chorn Children's home, one of the projects of the Raintree Foundation (a German foundation who supports Thai social projects, especially for children). The 44 children that find a home here & go to school, are from broken families and mainly from hill tribes. Hot Coffee's incomes are meant to support their needs. The children's home is just behind the B&B and can be visited. We had a nice evening here, singing with the kids, and witnessed them making breakfast for each other the next morning. For any traveller in the region, who wants to see how local people are involved in this project, for any traveller who wants to contribute to this beautiful initiative, I recommend this B&B strongly. The accommodation is basic but satisfactory and clean. The food is very good, the people who run the B&B (and are like parents for the kids) are very friendly. An authentic and heartwarming experience!

Always when we are out on the small motorcycles and do the Mae Hong Son Loop, we take our lunch or overnight stay at Hot Coffee Resort. For many reasons it's good , far from civilization and on a nice not busy route. The resort have about 6 rooms. All very nice located. The food is northen style but not to spicy.Hot Coffee is also a foundation, they take care of Karen hill tribe children.Money you spend, go's back to de foundation and use it for the kids again!Overall a good place to relax, and stay 1 night or more if you have time.

Perfectly placed bungalows overlooking a river, the location and comfort of this guest house are amazing. There is also an on site coffee shop and restaurant so there really is no need to move during your stay. The lady who works here was also extremely nice and helpful. You can't miss this place as it's located by the side of the road about 15 km before Mae Chaem if coming from Khun Yuam.

Our team of 8 scootered here from Chiang Mai and were instantly impressed by the attractiveness and character of this rustic riverside guesthouse. Though the staff had limited English, their warm and welcoming hearts spoke volumes. Appreciated their care for us eg led us to park our scooters in a secured compound, brought mozzie coils and even drained a huge cistern to recover a small toy that fell in.

Staying in the wooden cottages overlooking the river was v special. Sound of gurgling water was so therapeutic. Bed was firm, sheets were clean and crisp, bathroom spacious and spotless, and sleeping in mozzie net very quaint not that we noticed the presence of them.

Food was very good but do order in advance. Service was top notched. But the beautiful highlight for us was the orphanage discretely located next door. Filled with bright smiling friendly children, it was nice to pop in and say hi.

By itself, Hot Coffee deserves a return soon but knowing that the proceeds goes to support the future of orphans, gives us a more compelling reason to rate this as probably the best place to stay in the Mae Chaem area.

Do note they are 20+km away from Mae Chaem town though...

We stayed two nights as a part of our journey around Doi Inthanon. Lovely quiet place to stay and the hosts were very kind and helpful to us. Menu was a bit limited for a location that has no other meal outlets nearby. This dissuaded us from staying a little longer and enjoying the tranquil surroundings. Otherwise very good and suitable for a one or two night stopover.

Very nicely located and clean resort with friendly staff and excellent food. Serves delicous own coffee which is made by local hill tribe people (social support project). Great place to stay overnight when travelling from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Song or for visiting the area around Mad Chaem.

We went there just for a takeaway coffee in the morning, but the atmosphere was just so nice so we decided to hang around longer. We had breakfast with multiple cups of drinks. Wifi was available for tourists without mobile internet. Coffee is nice and is really cheap.

Stayed in an ensuite double bungalow overlooking the river. It was clean and the bathroom was spacious. It had a bit of cobwebby mesh in the ceiling but I was pleased to see theyd made an effort to seal it from the bugs. You have had fair warning- it is in the forest and there are big creepy crawlies! Nevertheless, sitting out on the balcony with a beer was blissful, listening to the locals downriver singing and swimming.

It is a very quiet place and the only people there on my trip were a large tour group that stopped in for breakfast. It is a well trodden spot for Mae Hong Son loopers who only stay a night and move on. For that purpose it serves well. The food is tasty and came out piping hot. Breakfast options are more limited.

We stayed here for one night on our Mai Hong Son tour and whilst it may not be a five star international resort we found it to be a clean and comfortable place in a peaceful rural setting along side a picture post card flowing river, the staff were as helpful as could be with their limited english, breakfast consisted of two fried eggs, coffee and toast, for 600thb we had no complaints plus it was pleasing to know that our small contribution was channeled back to the kids at the village orphanage
