#4 of 27 hotels in Borobudur
Travellers' Choice
Named ‘Peaceful Soul’ for the serenity of its setting in Central Java’s cultural heartland, Amanjiwo overlooks the Unesco World Heritage Site of Borobudur. Perfectly placed for exploring the region’s historic and natural attractions, or for simply relaxing in blissful surroundings, the resort cascades from a lofty rotunda down the hillside to a magnificent pool.

I could not ask for a better friend than solitude. This place is one of the quiet places where we can spend our time at peace. We can enjoy a breathtaking view, Borobudur Temple from here. Best place if you want to spend your time alone, nice ambience, beautiful sounds of birds chipping, humble staff. It was a great experience.

Hotel's Favourite
Amanjiwo was never stop surprising us from the day we arrived at the property. We already booked our room earlier with Miss Kinkin at garden suite but they wer upgraded our room to borobudur suite that has a very beautiful view towards borobudur. Once we arrived at our room they gave us an opera cake and congratulated card for our anniversary. Aww so sweet! And we realized that the excellent review score in Tripadvisor is the reality. We had an amazing dinner, breakfast and lunch with very delicious tastes. The chef was really made attention to the details with a great taste and outstanding quality ingredients as well. Even for us (Indonesian) the tasted of the Indonesian dish was very authentic and delicious. But, our fav were crispy duck and grilled snapper with sambal matah. Tasted heavenly! Amanjiwo was beyond that our expectations. The pool is spotless very clean and beautiful. We had beautiful sunrise and the scenery were just amazing. One thing, the staff are very friendly and gave you an outstanding service. Especially for Mr. Manager Mr. Heri and Mr Mul in the restaurant area. We had a great chit chat during our dinner. The served with heart and gratitude to Amanjiwo. Last but not least, They was blew our heart away when they gave us a cinnamon butter layered cake as a snack box when we checked out from the property because they already know that we were returned to Jakarta by car (covid 19 matters). Finally this is the end of my review of two nights stay at Amanjiwo. There are still a lot of good things that i haven’t write down yet. Hence, one day you guys could stay here and experience Amanjiwo by your self. Thankyou Amanjiwo for made our 6th anniversary just amazing and beyond our expectations. Definitely we will be back again! ❤️ Olyvia & Bram

There is no doubt Amanjiwo is a beautiful property which can be a destination itself! The rooms are spacious with a plunge pool & a gazebo for you to order you breakfast at & enjoy! The only issues were regarding certain basic amenities which you would not expect to deal with in a luxury hotel like Amanjiwo! Courteous staff & good Indonesian food! It was a lazy stay!

We were in this hotel from 10-13 th March 2021. We booked 2 Borobudur room and 2 dalam giwo suites. To make the long story short, everything were perfect including the weather. Our two butlers Marhadi and Yadi were perfect. The food in the hotel was great, no need to go out. Pricing of food and beverages were reasonable. The hotel staff did turn down services every two hours. So our rooms were always perfect and clean. I simply could not think of any complaints regarding this property. We will certainly be back to Amanjiwo.

We stayed in AMANJIWO for 4 nights (25-29th Dec) for a short break, and indeed it was the only break we had for the whole 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. it took 8 hours drive from Jakarta to the Amanjiwo, and arriving in the resort, we were greeted by Jann Hess, and others such as Pa Kurniadi, and another nice lady which i could not recall the name (but she was from another Aman resort in Bali). we arrived at 12PM, and were allowed for early check-in (which is a great PLUS) after short briefing and introduction at the Lobby. Entering the main lobby, you can view the expansive views of the surrounding valleys, mountains and the iconic Borobudur temple from a distance. the villa itself is huge with ample space, huge wardrobe, outdoor sunken bath tub, and outdoor gazebo to enjoy the cool breeze, with greeneries, mountains and hills around you. Food... Breakfast is complimentary, and they are very delicious and ample, and you will have more than enough. other times, you will need to pay for your meals, price may not be favourable for some, since they are in the expensive side, BUT..... they are very delicious. On once occasion we dined out at nearby hotel, it cost us almost the same at the end, with less satisfaction.... we were also served a complimentary dinner course (full course), since we stayed for 4 nights; and it was one of the best dinner we had, and they even allow a free additional dish (our son ordered) !!! and... they have free car wash, which they offer to do everyday!! Activities, there are heaps, we did cycling almost every morning, cycling down to nearby villages and rice fields while the mist is still covering the hillside, people here and the villagers are extremely friendly and helpful (mind you most villagers they don't wear masks)... There are free YOGAs sessions every couple of days in the morning, Sunset Meditation, Spiritual Cleansing, History Lectures every evening; which we really enjoyed very much.... Kudos to Mr Patrick who knows the history more than us !!!! even though he is a foreigner Being located far-away from the main Borobudur temple, and other Hostels/ Hotels/ Homestays, mean your privacy is guaranteed, when evening falls, mist will blanket the rice fields and the hills, and even some areas of the Resort, adding some mystical elements to it ..... you will be amazed by the sound of mother nature from tokeks (geckos), frogs, crickets, and other insects..... and the bed, pillows (including the extra bed) are super comfy.... The private pool in our villa is enjoyed mostly by our son; but even without the private pool, the 40 meter main pool will give all guests the best lush greeneries view with Mt Merapi and Mt Merbabu in sight. its sad time leaving AMANJIWO, and they even prepared us a box of Kue Lapis for our journey home.... thank you AMANJIWO team, one day, we will be back again..... STAY SAFE, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 to you all
