very well located hotel with friendly staff. the breakfast was good, not amazing but fine for the location. The pool is lovely and deserted. if you stay in a large room overlooking the pool, however, be prepared for a very loud mosque nearby that gets going at 4:00 am or so... Our room had 1.5 baths which was a nice convenience!

This is an average 3 star hotel. It’s an old colonial era hotel with v old flooring and style. But the rooms are very ordinary. They didn’t have hand towels, a/c wasn’t working, no soap in the basin area. Food menu tok is very limited. Though the location is good right next to the Borobudur structure.

This hotel is one of the best place we have been in Indonesia. We loved the set-up, as if it has been a colonial governmental palace. It isnt, however. It is new built. The place feels grand and is grand. The swimming pool is nice and gives lots of room to move. The suite is great, very big. The people are just wonderful. The Borobudur very close indeed, easy access therefore. Food is good enough. Breakfast is OK.

How good it is to go to an Indonesian hotel that has a star rating that matches its facilities. So many times in the last few weeks we have stayed at hotels that SAY they are five-star but are nowhere close to that. Sarasvati Hotel is listed as 3-star, and 3-star it is. It is spectacularly well located within walking distance of Borobudur Temple, there are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, and there is a convenience store across the street. The rooms are clean but dated, and set around a quiet courtyard. It would be good to have a desk and chair, and easy access to a powerpoint in the room. I was able to use a table in the dining area for this though. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. As a boutique property, I expected there may be little on offer, and certainly not buffet-style. I was wrong. There was tea & coffee, juices, fresh fruit, rice, noodles, a chicken dish, a vegetable dish, a few local goodies, and bread for toasting (butter and 2 jams). There was also an egg chef for made-to-order eggs. My only criticism would be that used dishes were not cleared from the table promptly (or without having to ask). The staff was friendly, and courteous, and provided some good information about the changes to viewing at the Borobudur Temple. The gardens and pool were terrific. Rooms are on two levels, so try for the ground floor level if you do not want to climb stairs.

This is a very attractive older hotel a short walk from the Borobudur visitor entrance. The lobby and room were nicely furnished in a classic style and I liked the high ceilings throughout. The breakfast wasn't a buffet when I visited, but there were several choices and I had plenty of good food to eat. I didn't use the pool but it certainly looked inviting. The staff was great. I considered it an excellent value.

We have been travelling around Indonesia for a few weeks so far and stayed at a lot of hotels, all varying budgets. We loved the colonial look of Sarasvati Hotel and the generous rooms and decided to book after not seeing anything in the area that appealed more to us. I am SO glad we chose this hotel. An inviting entrance way with lovely plants and trees greeted us, and the hotel itself was beautiful with a huge high ceilinged lobby. We were checked in by a lovely member of staff and made our way up to our room on the first floor, up a beautiful twisting staircase. The room we booked was a standard double but it was still very big (also thanks to the high ceilings throughout the building) and had a balcony overlooking the pool and surrounding garden. The room was very clean with a generous bathroom (albeit a little dark) with a good shower. The bed was super comfy with good pillows which we loved returning to after a gruelling sunrise volcano hike! The weekend breakfast buffet was very good though not many options and no tea (I’m sure I could have asked for one but was more than happy with the delicious juice on offer). We then chose an Indonesian breakfast for the next breakfast we had which was delicious (I had the soup and my husband had the Nasi Goreng which he thoroughly enjoyed. We also opted for dinner on one evening which was equally as good. The pool area is stunning, set in beautifully looked after gardens. We also enjoyed a massage in the pergola. Last mention is for the friendly and welcoming staff who were the icing on the cake for our stay. They are effortlessly good and we appreciated such a warm welcome when we returned from our trek. I’d happily return here in a heartbeat and explore more of the beautiful town.

The building has a lot of character and has an old colonial feel. The reception area is very nice with a high ceiling and lots of places to sit and mingle. The breakfast was nice and substantial served by friendly waitresses. I was a bit disappointed when I went to go for a swim and saw a lot of debris floating in the pool. The bathroom was dirty. Please see the attached images. It wasn’t possible to get a beer anywhere. There wasn’t a bar on the premises. Therefore the hotel felt more like a guest house. To improve the hotel needs to: (A) add a bar so guests can have a cold beer in the evening. (B) clean the pool (C) clean the bathroom.

The hotel is situated next to the Temple of Borobudur. And that means that at sunrise you can walk to the entrance of the complex. The hotel has a very good standard. Large rooms and a good Wifi. The entourage of the hotel is beautiful The diner is avarage. The staff is friendly helpful. A real recommendation!

We stayed here for three nights to visit Borobudur and also did some side trips to sights in Yogyakarta - Prambanan and Taman Sari. The Hotel was very clean and beautiful, the staff helpful and attentive in assisting with transport and tours, the food was excellent. The pool area is lovely, and great for an afternoon cool off. To address the other comments on the call to prayer - having travelled in several Muslim majority countries including Malaysia and Egypt hearing the call to prayer in your hotel room is a common experience. It’s part of the culture of the place you are visiting - take it in. In any case - get up and get to Borobudur, it’s stunning!
