Next to fields in a hamlet, with all its accompanying sounds (frogs, cicadas, calls to prayer..), this is a beautifully designed and maintained homely spot. We stayed in the larger 2 pool view bungalows which had open air showers and big bathtubs, and a 'shabby chic' feel. Everything you might need, even a floating breakfast! My one request would be for wall hooks to hang things up (something most hotels seem to lack, wherever you go). Easy to get into the surrounding area - Bobby has some really good recommendations.

This is our second times here. We're had a wonderful time during our stay at Janur bungalow. We feels like home. Having breakfast by the pool with a great breakfast menu, fried rice, traditional sweet cake, fruits, etc. Our favorite breakfast here fried rice ! must to try. Wake up first early morning and you will see the beautiful sun rise, and fresh air surrounded by rice fields. Rooms are very clean. Swimming pool was good for relax. Great place to stay with family. We're having very great time with walking around Janur, visiting village, making pottery using traditional techniques, visit Borobudur, etc. We are very happy with Janur owners, they are very nice hosts, we will not forget their kidness during our stay. We will miss Janur Bungalow and we will be back, someday

Close to Borobudur Temple, tastefully decorated bungalows, attentive staff and very helpful host Bobby! Highly recommend the cooking class - food tastes even more delicious when you've put effort into it. Also special thank you to our driver Wisnu who picked us up from the airport, took us to Borobudur at 4am, found us nice dinner spots both nights and dropped us off in town on our last day. A breath of fresh air from big city chain hotels 😊

It always pains me to write an average or bad review. I always want to like a place and leave with good memories. When I first looked at all the beautiful pictures of Janur, I fell in love with it straight away. I was tossing between Janur or Rumah Dharma, but in the end I chose Janur because of the pictures even though Rumah Dharma was cheaper. We did stay for 1 night at Rumah Dharma too because we couldn't extend 1 more night at Janur due to renovations. We felt bummed initially but as it turned out, it was actually a good thing that we couldn't extend because we actually wish we stay at Rumah Dharma the whole time because we felt it's so much better in terms of everything (location, price, view and the pool). So what's wrong with Janur? First and foremost, the very dirty swimming pool. Eugh it's so dirty that the floor was so slippery and we had to tip toed so as not to slip. Very very disappointed. Swimming pool was one aspect we looked for before we booked anything. Although we're not much of swimmers ourselves, we did want to have a clean pool that we could have a quick dip and swim. I still had my floating breakfast but it didn't look as beautiful as the photos they sent me :-( Hopefully the renovations will fix the pool. There's no restaurant nearby and for convenience, we had our dinner in the house both nights. We enjoyed the dinner on 1st night but not so on the 2nd night. Either the fish was so overcooked or it's not fresh because the meat was so tough. Some of the designs of the rooms were a bit weird, like the light switches. Why were they put at such weird and high places??? Light switches are the most basic thing in a building/house and the builder who knows how to build a good building/house would know that light switches should be placed at a convenient easy-to-reach places, like right beside the door so that when we came back at night time, we knew where to reach and could reach it...instead of struggling to find the pillow to stand so we could reach it. Clearly Janur had only tall western ppl in mind when they built the room. And there's a huge problem with the hot/cold water for the shower. Couldn't get the right temperature or pressure at all. Either it's too hot that it actually burnt us but then we tried to make it cold, the pressure became so small that we had to stand close right to the wall. Location is not close to Borobudur at all. So expect to spend extra money for transfer costs. Good points: The staff were amazing! Communication with Seo was always prompt and thanks to Bob who gave us a very sweet paw paw after I told him that's my favourite fruit. Yummy delicious breakfasts with beautiful decorations! We're absolutely stuffed! The coffee was the best too. We loved enjoying the breakfast near the rice fields and absolutely loved everything. Despite the light switches, we loved our rooms, very rustic and stylish. I loved the bathtub but too bad they couldn't arrange the flowers. We really enjoyed the tours with their driver (sorry forgot his name). He's a good driver and we really loved Selogriyo. The price was reasonable too. Lastly, thank you for the late check out. So overall, it's good but not great. We thought we would love Janur more :-/

Hi, Yenny. Thanks so much for your great feedback with detailed info. We're so happy to host local Chinese family from Sumatra. Above all, Thanks so much for your compliments about our unique space designed by ourselves (without any professional architect) and decorated by handmade accessory and furnitures including our eco ideas such as Non chemicals Treatment pool or using 100 years old recycled wood or offering Non chemicals handmade soap or custom made bathrobe using traditional batik patterns etc. Based on the above list, So many people might think we are a luxury resort or villa. But please note that we are a very small business. We are very proud of our efforts to preserve the traditional culture or to try to keep the beautiful environment as possible as We can. That is reason way We was selected as one of 10 of the best sustainable hotels in South-East Asia by the Guardian of UK in the January 2019 issue. And We're very sorry that you felt disappointed in many parts. 1. Hot/Cold water problem First, We're very sorry about Hot/Cold water problem You mentioned. We already checked it with technician after Your check out and It was well solved it. Your advice was very helpful. Again thanks so much. 2. Swimming pool As You know, We are not using any harmful chemicals in our pool to protect our beautiful nature and healthy despite of the high maintenance costs compared with Chemicals treatment pool. To keep the PH balance 7.4~7.6 like a drinking water, We just put Baking Soda and Citrun which can be used for cooking or processed food. So the water replacement period is quite shorter than Chemicals treatment pool. And We changed entired water every 5~6days During your stayng, There was no problem to use related PH balance or etc. The pool problem was color of the water. We convinced that We were honest about the part of the pool and our pool is much safer for your health than unscrupulous pools that haven't replaced the entire pool water for years with chemicals However, if the dry season is long-term, it is difficult to get the water for water supply cuz of lack of infra by government. Therefore, We thought We needed to discuss about the water replacement period. And We considered to use chemicals like a general hotel swimming pool. Now our Pool is under the Chemical treatment and is very well operating from 23th Sep 2019. We will try to change the water as often as possible and try to minimize the chemicals as much as possible. 3. Breakfast& flower bath&Dinner on request Free floating breakfast picture We sent was not a promotion picture but a photo that was actually provided to the guest. The kind of Fruits can be different depending on the season or market. We offered Free extra breakfast and Free late check out as a service related pool or Hot/Cold water issue. Related flower bath, Flower bath is not free of charge. It need to pay additional charge. Before your check in, We already explained that There was no staff for flowering bath on your request day. Related dinner on request, Yes, There is no resto around here. I already informed about some of option after your reservation is done via inbox of Booking and face to face after check in. -visit to Borobudur temple area -Having a dinner at Borobudur temple. Your sunset ticket You bought include dinner at Manohara resto at the temple. -Delivery food via Gojek or Grab apps or We could help for delivery food -Dinner on request at JB. But You just wanted to order the dinner at JB for 2 night. We can sure We prepared quality food with honest. All the food you ordered for two days is a traditional homemade meal without any MSG. We cooked with fresh local grown ingredients shopped the same day. We used a variety of fresh herbs, even those that we harvested directly from our garden. We offered sevice menu for second time order. *We never sold any food bought from outside street stalls as if it were homemade. Again, We're very sorry about inconvenient related this issue. I hope You enjoyed your precious holiday at Borobudur. See You soon again. Always welcome back! Bobby

We stayed there just two nights but we completely fell in love with this artistic b&b. Bobby, the owner, is funny and helpful, and also his kind crew!! We had DELICIOUS breakfasts (floating breakfast in the wonderful pool!). Bungalows are shabby-chic, large, cool, and clean. I loved the contrast wild-chic. The hotel is not in the real centre, but they can drop off and pickup for just €4/5. Better not to book in the real centre because it's trafficated and crowded. I TRULY RECOMMEND IT. Thank you for everything!!

We have spent two wonderful and magical days in this artistic and unforgettable place. Warm welcome in this tiny oasis very close to Borobudur Temple. It"s the place you wanna be to make your visit absolutely unique. Just few bungalows but each with its own personality and art. You will fall in love with the atmosphere, with the memories you will live. We had the luck to enjoy one of the breakfast directly in the swimming pool, this will be one of the best travel memory ever. The hosts, in the end, are simply awesome, they are really kind and they know how to treat and how to cuddle their guests. We can't wait to come back there again. Thank you very much

We had an amazing time staying with Bobby and his family. It is hard to know where to start - the gorgeous surroundings, the care and attention to the whole place, the fabulous cabanas, the wonderful breakfasts ... all in all, this was one of our favourite stays on our trip to Indonesia. We travelled with our 2 teen kids and they absolutely loved it too. The highlight was going on the Village Tour with Bobby - it felt like such a privilege to go round with him and get a small taste of village life. We chose Janur Bungalow as it is close to Borabodur but it is much more than that.

Our main travel was in Bali Indonesia and we decided to just flew to yogyakarta to visit Borobudur temple. But I gotta say, our stay at Janur Bungalow is the best part of our whole travel in Indonesia. There is no place like this!!! The place will let you experience the country from indoor to outdoor, the design/furnitures are well placed and amazes us every corner of it. because everything you see at Janur Bungalow is picture perfect, and memorable. The service is more than excellent as the owner himself will welcome you and tours you to his place. The food and are also great and beyond beauty when presented. My husband and i will never forget this place and will definitely bring my family here.
