Two of us (me and my friend) went to Purwokerto for travelling. We never go to Purwokerto before, then we decided to find the affordable hotel but good quality through the tripadvisor review. Our choice is Hotel Besar. Our first impression, antique and classic exterior design, located in the main street and very strategic. Only 10 minutes from train station.... More

Stayed at this cozy and clean hotel run by family management; previously Hotel Mulia which was set long time ago. Some old architecture interior (which I love) are still there - window at lobby, window frame and ventilation at room. Nice air circulation building supported with nice small garden in center. Room and shower room including bed sheet and towel... More

Well preserved and clean. Love the old architecture of the main building and the public area furniture + decoration + the inner courtyard which brings in fresh air and natural light. Room interior (stayed in Zirconia room) seems to be modernised, except the bathroom. The sanitary ware needs to be upgraded. Nice staff!

Sits right at the center of town, close to the main road,it's an old small hotel but it's well maintained. The rates started at 130k without aircon or 230k with aircon plus a modest breakfast but it's better to ask rooms no 7 to 14 since it's less noisy compared with their bigger rooms located close to the lobby, they had no restaurant... Simply one of the hidden pearls in Asia ... You'll be amazed that Hotel Besar ("BIG HOTEL" in english) - a local boutique colonial style within a small city in Java - is offering a sleek, friendly, no-frills, speedy hospitality .... all in a very gentle, heart-warming touch of Javanese. Supported with superb location - traditional bakery next door, batik... More

My friend and I stayed one night in Besar Hotel, when transiting Purwokerto. The hotel is pretty and clean. One can choose the comfort level of the rooms, like with our without warm water, size, etc. So it's good also for backpackers and for those, who want a little bit more comfort and pay somewhat more. This is a simple... More
