There's a short bumpy road that takes you to Octagon, but don't be discouraged The place is quiet and surrounded by flowering shrubs and trees (and crested cranes!), the rooms are clean and private. We had breakfast with the owner, a delightful gentleman who runs another hotel in Nairobi. Wi-Fi in public places only.

This lodge is especially enjoyable for the lushing tropical garden surrounding the cottages. You wake up in the morning with the chant of countless birds singing. If you love nature, and if you love birding, you'll love this place. Great food, abundant lunch-boxes, all in all a great value for the money.

Loved staying here! The staff are friendly, the food delicious and the setting an oasis of calm. Great place to rest after or before a safari! The rooms are clean and Eco-friendly. The location is very convenient and the organic food was superb!

Very comfortable lodge with a great multi-course meal for dinner. The location is on a large set of grounds, excellent grounds kept with ferns, banana trees and lots of other things I can't recognize. There's even creeping vine tunnels that you have to walk through. Lodges are basically semi-detached cottages. Very large, with up to 4 beds (2 twin and...

Overall we were rather disappointed by Octagon Lodge. Putting a married couple in a room with separate beds is silly and the lack of a resolution left a bad taste. The management was acting as if they were interested in ensuring a satisfactory outcome, but really, they weren't. It became clear when the manager took a phone call in the...

This is to bring to your attention our very disappointing experience during our stay at the Octagon Lodge,Karatu,Tanzania(near Ngorongoro) . We were booked there with two of my friend’s family on the nights of 4th & 5th July. Although we paid equal amounts per family, yet myself & my family was provided a room( Room no.12) much inferior to the ones...

We were so happy we got to experience this hotel. It's so cozy and the staff is absolutely amazing. They were by far the most humble people we met. We warmly recommend this place. Their garden is fairytaleish. So cozy. // Vicky and Daniel, Sweden

After a game drive at Lake Manyara we climbed the ridge of the Rift Valley and zigzagged off the main road in Karafu to the quiet, secluded grounds of the Octagon Lodge. We were the only lodgers on the night we were there, so had the staff to ourselves. Our rooms were lovely with the enveloping mosquito nets around the...

After taking a cultural tour in Mto wa Mbu, Octagon Lodge in Karatu was a great welcome. The place is homely. We were the only guests at the entire compound. It was nice going around to enjoy the mature gardens and taking pictures. The staff were nice, friendly and attended to our needs. We had a spacious room with three...

We stayed there for two nights as we had come to Ngorongoro and the place was amazing. The staff were very friendly and the bar was the most exciting place to be. Everyone giving stories of what they had seen on their safari. Definitely the place to stay if you're on your way to Ngorongoro or Serengeti.
