Enjoyed a small, intimate cooking class experience at Ristorante Daria in charming Montticchiello with host Daniele Natale. Being novices, Daniele was the perfect guide and coach as we enjoyed our initial traditional Tuscan cooking experiences. The foods were fun to make and delicious to share and enjoy, along with the wines, the setting, and the company provided by Daniele.

The traditional house next to the city wall, with beautiful gardens, is a wonderfully restful place. A common well-equipped kitchen space is great, with coffee and water provided by the friendly host. Wifi works and the restaurant is excellent (see separate reviews). Aircon is a bit weak, running in a stop-and-go mode all the time.

When we drove up to the walled city we were absolutely amazed by it! One of Daria's employee met us at the gate and escorted our car up through the medieval city to the beautiful property and house where we would stay in for 4 days. It was like a dream and we felt like we had transcended time. The home was beautiful and the rooms had a view of the walled city. The church bells rang and we were enchanted by everything. There is a beautiful garden patio area on the property where we had our evening glass of wine. Daria was amazing and delighted us with amazing breakfasts and we ate several times in her beautiful restaurant. We even took a cooking class from her which I would highly recommend.

Daria is an amazing host, always available with valuable advise! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the newly renovated tower. Comfortable bed, equipped kitchen, big shower, very clean rooms and amazing views. Definitely recommend it!

I'll keep this brief as I don't enjoying writing negative reviews but if La Porta hadn't been so highly recommended to us we would have left immediately after the very rude welcome we endured.
Staff 'in-jokes' and laughter from behind the counter, which felt aimed at us or about us - who knows - whilst we waited to be shown to our seats is NOT the way to treat anyone.
I am ashamed and embarrassed that I don't speak Italian as well as the waiters spoke English, and therefore I will never really know what was being said, but the mood and sheer rudeness that was created put me on edge for the whole lunch. An experience that ruined our trip to this beautiful spot. It was only slightly saved by the excellent food.
Give it a try, the food is well worth it. I just hope they have learnt their lesson that no matter how full or popular their restaurant is you cannot treat your paying guests - no matter which country they come from - with such hostility.

We have been coming here for 16 years and this is quite simply, the best there is. The best food, the best view, Daria is the best hostess. Don't take my word for it, eat here. All the food is locally sourced all home made and all delicious

Our time to La Porta was by far the highlight of 4 weeks in Italy. The view was spectacular, the tower room(honeymoon suite) was unbelievable and very comfortable. Daria was a gracious host to us! Her restaurant was by far the best food and wine we had in all of Italy! The veal Osso Bucco is so wonderful that my husband still talks about it. We were told by a friend about this place and although the town is very small it is convenient to all the touristy places like Monticino, Pienza, and Multipulciano! Don't miss this place to eat and stay! Thank you Daria!!

This was an event planned by Cretaiole when we stayed there. We had a great time tasting lots of different wines with our meal. Daria is very knowledgeable and she explains the history and the origins of the various wines of Tuscany. Dinner was simple and delicious, all twelve of us had a good time.

Went to La Porta for our 25th anniversary dinner at the recommendation of friends. The food was quite wonderful, and the setting is potentially quite spectacular, with an outdoor porch overlooking the rolling Tuscan countryside. Unfortunately the pervasive smoke from patrons at other tables was overwhelmingly unpleasant, and we also did not find the service particular top-notch as it should be for a restaurant of this caliber. They had been aware weeks in advance that we were coming for our anniversary dinner - had they held a table on the edge of the porch where the air was fresh and view not obstructed, we may have felt differently about the experience.

Ask for a table on the terrace (inside is great but the views back to Pienza are to di(n)e for! The food is wonderful and well worth looking for off the beaten track. Daria the owner is a treasure. All the menu is recommended but I adore the slow cooked beef cheek which just melts.
