My guests stayed in the ostrich manor for some nights and would not stop talking about how much they enjoyed it! The lodge is very pretty and the new management Yvette ad Raymond are very friendly and kind people. Just a few small touches need to be done, but a very enjoyable and affordable stay for a couple, friends or...

I have read many of the reviews and could not understand why our experience was not as great as the reviews posted, but I think it is because most of the guests are foreigners who would probably find it cheap and, looking for the "African experience", do not have high expectations. As a local South African, I was unfortunately not...

Great accomodation! The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is great! I did both the game drive and the mountain hike during my stay, which both were awesome. The guys who are running the place are incredibly friendly and they did their very best to make my visit at the manor as pleasent as possible. Something´s that very important...

Had a hike up to the mountain and took the cablecar down. It was a great experience and two guides who could tell us a lot of great stuff and stories about the place and mountain. On our way we saw wild giraffes, zebras and springbuks.

Would really recommend Ostrich Manor for a quick stopover or a few days' break from the big city. We were treated to exceptional hospitality from arrival to departure and thoroughly enjoyed our two hour drive in the Nature Reserve. We found Dilo extremely knowledgeable about the area and the game/buck. Our dinner and breakfast were both great quality and our...

I recently stayed at the Ostrich Manor in the 'tents' we had soooo much fun. Being an eco area there are no TV's or aircon which made if feel like an 'out of Africa' weekend. The people are all very friendly and were willing to go out of their way whenever we asked for anything. Breakfast was included in the...

This is a wonderful location, the property has historical links going back to colonial times, an mature gardens with wonderful old trees hundreds of years old, it is simply a wonderful setting. Your hosts are gracious and attentive. Whilst there is not a full blown restaurant / kitchen, dinner was great and a real alfresco dinning experience. We were on...

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your kind words very much! We are excited that you have enjoyed your stay and dinner with us so much, obviously the bush babies and birds played a major role in that. Did you know that we have counted over a 100 bird species at our venue so far and that last week...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Ostrich Manor is a tranquil and intimate Eco Lodge situated within the Silkaatsnek Nature Reserve, which is part of the UNESCO Magaliesberg Biosphere. Silkaatsnek is home to some of Africa's magnificent wildlife, such as giraffe, zebra, kudu, nyala, waterbuck and over a 100 bird species, obviously including our symbol the ostrich. Overlooking the bushveld you will find our self-catering romantic rondavel and safari tents. Besides family rooms, the manor features a spacious honeymoon suite. All our accommodations have been decorated with eye for detail and we have managed to keep that authentic 1920's feeling, so our guests often wonder if "Out of Africa" Karen Blixen will be joining them for breakfast! We offer game drives, horseback safaris, bush walks and hikes to the top of the Magaliesberg Mountains, all of which can perfectly be combined with a massage or romantic picnic. Especially our full moon picnics are a unique surprise to celebrate special moments with your loved one! We are located in the Hartbeespoort Dam area ("Harties") that boasts a great variety of activities to explore the local nature, culture and adventure. Johannesburg and the International OR Tambo Airport are an hour's drive and Pretoria only a 30 minutes' drive from the Ostrich Manor. An hour's drive to the west are Pilanesberg Big 5 National Park and the adjacent world-famous Sun City. ... more   less
