Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An excellent place to stay if you want a quiet, peaceful farm type stay. Close to Perth, very close to York and Beverley. Comfortable old house and hosts Dina and Rob know how to help you enjoy your stay.

Great location on the Avon River. An early morning bird walk brought to light some lovely species. On the river there were Little Black Cormorants, Little Pied Cormorants, Australian White Ibis and Black-fronted Dotterel . Along the river bank, Rufous Whistlers, Red-capped Robin, Scarlet Robin, Chestnut-rumped Thornbill and the beautiful Splendid Fairy-wrens were there as well as cheekily hopping around under the outside table as we had breakfast. I would have loved to have stayed longer but work commitments did not allow. I will just have to return.

The hosts make you feel welcome. Very relaxing country getaway. Have the chance to interact with the horses and other animals on the farm They had a black and white baby lamb they had found on the side of the road when I was there. Not close to the town of Beverley - about 12 kms away so you need wheels. Great self serve breakfast.

Stayed at She-Oaks for one night with my partner, because he had a skydiving booking for the next day, and we didn't want to drive all the way from Perth to York on a Sunday morning. Chose She-Oaks because it was only 15 minutes away from York (between York and Beverley), and it looked like a different experience, staying in an old farmhouse, at a very attractive price :) The farm was a lovely surprise. Lots of animals (horses, cows, chooks, birds, sheep), a large living area and verandah for the guests to use, and home-made bread and fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning (among other things; contintental breakfast was included in the rate). We had a great sleep, and woke up to the sound of birds singing. The stay itself was wonderful; my only advice to travellers looking for something a little more action-packed is that even on a Saturday night, the pubs in York aren't exactly going off (we're in our 20s, and were surprised to find the place pretty dead by 9pm!). Also most of the take-away shops in York were closed by 8-8.30pm, so have a game plan for dinner (don't leave it to the last minute! We were fortunate enough to get a last minute order in at the diner!). Still, we had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again should we find ourselves in the Avon Valley once more.

Dina and Rob at She-Oaks have only recently made their lovely old home into a bed &breakfast. It was built in the 1930s as a homestead for what was a large property, but now much smaller. It doesn't seem to have been renovated at all (luckily) and still retains all the features of the original house, the wood panelling on walls ceilings and dado's, wooden window frames, big spacious living areas. It is still very much a country property, and some of the rooms are in what would have been the servants "wing" but they are still very comfortable. Some of the rooms open out to their veranda, with views of either the river or the country side. They are all well furnished and very comfortable She-Oaks seems very much like a "home". There is nothing overly fancy or pretentious about it, and Dina and Rob make you feel very comfortable and relaxed. They both work full time in Beverly which is some kilometres away so we were left to breakfast by ourselves as we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the property.
