Love this place! The road is in much better shape then it was 4 years ago. Once you get there it is like stepping back in time. The park service does a good job of keeping up the old mine. The Lodge is very nice and serves excellent food

Dear Laura M, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your visit to Kennicott. The State of Alaska has been working hard to improve the gravel road from Chitina to McCarthy and it now takes around 2 hours to drive the 60 mile road. We look forward to seeing you again on your 3rd trip to Kennicott! Christina Kirkwood Kennicott...

The privately-owned Kennecott Glacier Lodge is in the middle of a huge and remote National Park. It is an historical one of a kind place to slowly enjoy. Many tours (glacier, mill) start near the lodge. Our room was large with expansive views: of moraine tracks (mud and rock) and white glaciers and mountains. The beds were great. The food...

This is the place, an old style lodge with a full staff and chefs for the full resort experience in Alaska's (and the country's) largest National Park. The rooms aren't luxurious like the Plaza Hotel in NYC, but this isn't NYC! And go for the meal package, you're spending enough for the rest, it really completes the experience. Your room...

I was not so sure if I would love to stay in a lodge, away from our car (left in Chitina) with fixed meal times and so on. But wow, our two night stay at Kennicott Glacier Lodge was like a stay in paradise. It's not just the lodge, it's about the whole experience. Flying into (from Chitina) this wonderful...

Dear Belgian_traveller_8, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. We love to share our “summer home” with our Guests and we are glad that you enjoyed this special area as much as we do! Christina Kirkwood Kennicott Glacier Lodge

1) This is THE place to stay in Kennicott/McCarthy. If you stay anywhere else, you will still end up taking a shuttle over to this place every single day to do any activities. All of the guided hiking tour meet outside the front door of the lodge. 2) Do NOT waste the extra money for a room with a view....

This was on my bucket list. Superb staff and they even were able to feed us after we arrived later than the dinner seating. Breakfast was very nice. If you can, book in the annex as the kitchen is in the main lodge, anf staff work late, and arrive early. Main lodge guests share showers and baths, and the annex...

Stopped for lunch while on the Kennecott Discovery Tour. Food was great. My husband loved the bison burger. I had the beef tips over risotto. Prices weren't too steep. The view from the lodge was beautiful! Staff was very friendly too.

We spent two days here in the south wing with meals included. We felt pampered and at home. Met amazing people at the family style dinners. The room was very comfortable with great beds, fluffy towels and luxurious bedding. We had a front and back porch and could sit on the veranda and look out over the beautiful glacial moraine...

I spent two nights and three days at this property. It is a unique experience and a great starting place for hiking and exploring the area. The accommodations are simple but comfortable and the food is good. Makes it possible to easily get to a beautiful and remote location in Alaska without all the planning and logistics hassles.

This is certainly not a place you will just stumble into. It takes a real commitment to drive the dirt road all the way to McCarthy. You park there and shuttle to the Lodge. Please visit the Lodge's website and get a full understanding that this a wilderness lodge. Make sure you want to come here. Lots to see and...
